Hmm...
To go along with what you said, a couple interesting quotes from the Starfinder core rulebook on Nyarlathotep (page 488):
"It is said that one can see Nyarlathotep’s influence in every major disaster or calamity if one looks hard enough and that he has had a hand in guiding entire civilizations into ruin."
"In any form, the Crawling Chaos works to upend the status quo and cast down the mortal races from the heights of their achievements. As the deity of conspiracies and dangerous secrets, Nyarlathotep engineers the deaths of kings, presidents, and reformers to inexorably guide civilization toward anarchy."

Folks, I'm really sorry I've been fairly MIA. I'm going through some significant personal issues right now, and I have little time (and honestly, little enthusiasm) for much of anything. I hope it won't go on much longer, but please DMPC San as necessary for now. Sorry again.

Folks, I leave tomorrow for Italy (this time on vacation; yay!). However, my online time will be severely limited until at least the 12th when I get back. Please DMPC San as needed.

Pretty cool, Pat! Thanks! From Ekuur's description:
"Ekuur ... looks more like a bronze sculpture than a man. Standing 6' 3" and weighing 222 lbs, he is heavily muscled and broad-shouldered. His body is completely hairless; not because he shaves, but because the constant heat he has dealt with in his life has burnt it off and it no longer grows. His skin is a deep bronze in color, and his eyes are a light amber."
I guess I always envisioned him as being similar to Teal'c from the Stargate SG1 tv show, with the changes described above (and no forehead symbol). A few other notes: he wears bronzed half-plate, and his obsidian orb holy symbol is around his neck and constantly surrounded by a bluish flame that never consumes it.
Hello, please cancel my Adventure Path subscription. Thank you!

I calculated as 6000/7, or 857 gp, 1 sp, and 4 cp

I think Pat's been giving us maximum hit points, unless I'm mistaken. That's how San was set up, and what I did for this level as well. Let me know if that's wrong ...

Guy Humual wrote: For me it's more like there's a lot of other characters but it feels like Magnus and Kesel do most of the talk. I'm really trying not to step on other people's shoes as I'm new to the game. It doesn't feel right joining someone else game and then taking over. A lot of time I'm holding back because I want to hear what the original cast want to do first. And I often hold back a bit because I'm playing San as definitely NOT the leader; someone who's not sure he even really cares what he does. :-)
But yeah, it can be hard to get back into the swing of things after an extended break; still, I'm in favor of continuing as well. I've always enjoyed this game a lot.

That's what I thought. Thanks!

Quick question for the more rules-savvy folks: spells such as magic vestment and greater magic weapon do NOT stack with an existing magical enhancement bonus, correct? In other words, if Ekuur memorized magic vestment (+2 bonus at CL 10) and cast it on his +3 half-plate, it would have no effect, right?

So, did we make a decision as to what we're doing? Are we pressing on, recuperating where we're at, or heading back through the portal to rest? I'm unclear, which is why I haven't made a post yet ... :-)
EDIT: Anyone have rope trick or secure shelter?

Ravenloft was definitely my thing. I think I ran a 4-year campaign in college that started in the Forgotten Realms but ended up in Ravenloft for like 90% of the time. I still lurk on the Fraternity of Shadows site fairly frequently.
I still think what would have been cool is a Masque of the Red Death campaign but set a few hundred years earlier, like in 1500 during the Renaissance.

I'm pretty sure I know as well, though I never played through these adventures before. But if it is who I think ... whoa! Should be fun!

Just to let everyone know, I'm out of town on vacation today through the 2nd or 3rd. Shouldn't have much trouble posting (except the last day when I have an 11 hour drive home), but if I'm a little slow in responding, that's why :-).

Welcome back, hope all went well? Thanks! Yeah, went well. One of my more enjoyable work trips, actually. Got to see Florence for the first time, and parts of Turin I hadn't been to before (believe it or not, I counted, and this was my 21st trip there). Now I'm just exhausted, and trying to readjust myself to EST.
Lots of good stuff on the thread, though; it was fun getting back up to speed.
And Pat, Ekuur is now updated to level 10.

Hi all. Finally home after a long two weeks. I'll get caught up and updated by tomorrow at the latest.

All, very sorry I haven't been able to post more; we've been extremely busy on this trip and have had much less time than expected. This weekend won't be any better, as a group of us are taking off to visit Florence. I hope to have more time by the middle of next week, but as before, please DMPC Ekuur as needed. I expect to level him up as soon as I get a longer break.
FYI, Ekuur does have the ability to cast raise dead on Rhiannon, but I was gathering from the posts that this was a pretty good "exit" and that we would sort of hand-wave that off.

FYI, folks, I leave for Italy on business Saturday for two weeks. While I should be able to post, it may not be every day. So if anything starts to lag because of me, please DMPC Ekuur as necessary.
OK, just found my new favorite journal. Nice job, Ragadolf!

It's novel length though sadly it doesn't seem likely I'll finish it.

Wow, I remember reading every word of that journal, Guy (and checking every few days for the updates). Absolutely loved it! I know if you ever do happen to decide to finish it, there's a lot of us who would eagerly be waiting to read it :-).

I think Concentration is d20+lvl+casting stat; caster level is just d20+lvl (and any relevant feat bonuses)

Pat, this game started in November of 2008 - almost 7 1/2 years ago. I think it's safe to say we'll be here when you're ready! :-) And good luck!

Also just got back from taking my two kids. Definitely a fun movie, kids loved it, and overall enjoyable flick. I'd recommend it.

Thanks! I gave him Craft Magic Arms and Armor.

Pat - I think I may have Ekuur down one feat. He's 9th level, which means he should have 6 feats ... 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th levels plus human bonus. I've only given him 5. Can I select another and pretend he had it all along, should I wait until we get to civilization, or should I just forget it (my mistake, after all). Let me know what you prefer.

NobodysHome wrote: So, I don' t want to delve into the rightness/wrongness of the whole, "Catholic Kentucky clerk refuses to grant marriage licenses to gay couples" thing, because we'd get threadlocked in an instant. I never get involved in these discussions, preferring to just stick to the pbp forums, but I feel the strong need to correct something here. The clerk is NOT Catholic, but rather an Apostolic Christian according to every single news report I've seen.

Hey, Pat - we've been here this long, I think it's safe to say we're not going anywhere. Take your time!
And sorry I haven't posted in a bit either, I've been in Italy on business the past two weeks and had less time to check in than I thought I would.

Patrick Curtin wrote: There is a saving throw per level lost at the 24 hour mark. If a save is made the level returns. If it is failed the loss is permanent. So Karrin could lose 0-4 levels depending on how the STs break. Or she could get a Restoration spell before the 24 hours is up which will negate the level drain. Restoration will remove all of the temporary negative levels, or one permanent per week. Main issue is the component (100gp or 1000gp of diamond dust), which I don't know if any of us have ...
Ekuur could conceivably rest for 8 hours to replenish and get restoration before the 24 hours, but we still need the dust. And find a safe place to do so ...
