Laura shakes her head back and forth, sweating a little from dragging the body all the way to the chapel. "Don't know," she growls in response to Winter's question, "This her? She weren't in much state to talk, but she had this stuff in her desk." She holds up the journal and other loot they recovered.

She nods to Veda, indicating without words that she remembers the drow woman, though her eyes crinkle slightly as if she is trying and failing to remember from where.

Laura catches the talismans as they fly toward her and shrugs amiably to Aoife's question. "Let's get all this stuff back to the chapel," she mutters gruffly.

If the key does not open the lock on the desk, Laura prepares herself to try and break it with her crowbar. Once the room is gone over and looted, she takes hold of the rope and begins to drag the body back to the chapel.

This is going to be a little tricky, because we haven't found very much treasure yet, certainly not enough to give those of us who aren't making new characters wealth equivalent to WBL 3. I have no objection to re-adding old members if our GM is willing to accommodate us. I play in another PbP game that has eight players, and so far it seems to work pretty well with the GM increasing the difficulty slightly. So far no one has vanished or dropped out of that game, but I feel confident that if someone does we have enough that we can still continue, and maybe that same circumstance applies here?

Laura wordlessly draws a long coil of rope from her pack and fashions a sort of noose or lasso out of it. From her position on the other side of the room, she carefully tosses it over the woman and tightens the loop. She looks to Prasitis for the nod, and then pulls hard on the rope.

Laura's eyes widen at the disturbing scene. Looking slowly to the others, her expression slightly disgusted, she hefts her axe experimentally and gives a silent questioning nod as if to ask if she should put the woman out of her apparent misery.

Almost instinctively, Laura turns toward the door and advances, intending to open it immediately. She doesn't question where the orders came from, she only considers that they feel correct.

Laura looks suspiciously at first the scrap of paper, then the wall behind him. She then looks to Prasitis with a shrug that might mean she's game if the cavalier-witch thinks it a good idea.

Laura shrugs and looks at Prasitis. "There are monsters and worse out there. What will you give us if we kill them for you?" she asks the tiny monarch, her puzzled eyes remaining on her companion as a sign of respect.

Laura raises her eyebrows and sighs, as if annoyed to see another of these strange folk declaring himself in charge of the empty rooms of the asylum. "Does this mean you are to blame for what has happened here, your highness?" she mutters sarcastically under her breath.

Laura eagerly picks through the bloody trove to collect the coins, untroubled by the mess. In response to Satomi's question she turns and shrugs. "Not very long ago, from what that, mmm, person Winter said it sounded like only a few days." She grunts then, as if the effort of such a long sentence merited an expulsion of energy to recover. She hefts her axe and prepares to push forward.

Laura grips the shaft of her axe and concentrates as she swings it at the enemy. She also steps around the creatures to flank with Prasitis.

Laura's eyes widen and she stares at the creature. She nods absently to Prastitis and draws her axe, moving protectively in front of the elven woman and swinging at the second monster (assuming that Prasitis is taking care of the first with her glare).

Laura nods to Prasitis, almost like a salute, and indicates she is ready to follow where the elven woman leads. That is strange, she thinks to herself, when did I accept Prasitis as my leader? It's like she reminds me of someone else... She shakes her head, reluctant to expend energy on trying to remember something she knows she can't recall.

Laura regards the library flatly, but shrugs and does her best to make the best of it. Perhaps there are some books about the sort of creatures like... what did Prasitis call it? My familiar? With this goal in mind, she begins to scan the titles and from there proceeds to explore the room more thoroughly.

Laura pauses at the door, and like everyone else has an instinctive flash to turn around. She shrugs, and decides there is no reason not to trust her better self, if that is where the impulse comes from. "Let's try one of the other doors," she agrees.

Unbidden, something about the room reminds Laura of a memory from before, about ghosts and spirits that linger long after the body has departed. It occurs to her to stop and look over the corpses to see if they hold any clues about why they were here.

Laura catches her breath, her eyes shining with the effort. "Not sure why I have those," she says. "Good thing, though." She knew somehow that the part of her that was bonded with her, well, familiar could conjure a splash of acid, but it made her uncomfortable to feel that pool of energy within her. Perhaps that was why she had the vials, so she wouldn't have to tap into that side of her psyche.

She keeps her axe ready in her hands as she steps behind Prasitis.

At Veda's direction, Laura draws out a vial of acid from her pack and pours it over the creature's bubbling mass of goo.

Laura winces as the blood and gore splash on her fists, and draws upon deep unconscious reserves of dislike that she has for abominations such as these. Raising her fists again, she cries out a wordless shout as she punches it right in the mouths.

As a move action, she activates her Martial Flexibility to gain the Dedicated Adversary (hungry flesh) feat.

Laura steps forward beside Satomi, and draws upon her knowledge of street fighting tactics to give herself a burst of strength. She then throws herself and her axe against the mess of gore, attempting to drive it back from its prey.

Instinctively looking to Prasitis for direction, she indicates the head covering and motions a question of whether they should remove them to look at their faces.

Laura watches the drama involving the eye creature intently. She cannot bring herself to look away. Is that what is going to happen to me? she wonders in sick fascination. She doesn't even cover her nose and mouth despite the overpowering chemical smell coming from the weeping creature's tears.
