Barclay stands at a door off to the side of the main room. He waves you over. "In here."
Barclay walks up to the door and holds it open for Derika and Vishanti. After following them inside, he heads to Jericho's place.
Barclay gestures at the Common House. "He's still staying in there. I have to check on a few people in there myself."
"Why wouldn't I be okay with that?" Barclay asks. "I don't have any authority over you. You helping out around Valwick is at your convenience, not mine. I'm sure Kyoga and Jexxa would appreciate getting back to their homes."
"Of course," Barclay says.
Derika and Vishanti encounter Barclay as he is heading to the Common House.
Derika and Vishanti encounter Barclay as he is heading to the Common House.
"You've got three hours," Barclay says. "Then I have to turn them loose."
He turns and exits the fort.
Barclay sighs and looks at Drago, since the dhampir had lived here the longest out of most people in Valwick. "And how do you propose to do that?"
After a few minutes pass, Barclay walks into the fort. He looks at Drago, Toska and the others. "I hear you have captured some of these dragon followers...in a questionable manner, it sounds like. By law, I cannot keep them imprisoned simply because they are evil. Also, they have done nothing in or to the town, so I need a really good reason why I shouldn't let them go this instant."
"I don't know," Barclay says. "All I know was that she needed to be taken to the temple. I didn't get specifics."
Barclay nods. "I'll keep that in mind should anything come up. By the way, tell your sister that my paladins did find the ratfolk girl."

Barclay smiles. "Well...I'm glad you felt like telling me that. I think Valwick is worthwhile place as well."
Dressed in simple clothing, Barclay opens the door. He wears spectacles and is holding a large book in his hand. "Oh, excuse me. I usually don't expect visitors this late."
Barclay shakes his head. "No, it's fine. If I need to respond to the note, I'll stop by later, if that isn't a problem."
Barclay takes the note. "Thank you. Let her know that I hope she feels better soon."
Barclay walks up to Rajni. "You needed to see me?"
Barclay chuckles. "When in doubt, go on the defensive. You might get an opening that way."
He takes the practice blades away and notices Rajni sitting nearby. "I'll see you later, Drago."
Barclay parries the strike and uses Drago's momentum to send him a few feet past him. The paladin turns to face the dhampir and waits for another attack.
Barclay adopts a relaxed stance and waits for Drago to make the first move.

Using Drago's strike as an indicator of his position, the paladin deftly uses his sword to disarm the dhampir. He grabs the sword as it spins in the air and opens his eyes. "Fancy tricks won't help you if you can't keep a firm hand on your sword."
He holds out the handle to Drago. "You're putting your body too close to mine when attacking. You leave yourself open for unarmed attacks or even a stab from a dagger."

Barclay closes his eyes and focuses before rushing at the dhampir and starts his swing high before changing course and going low. He lands a hard blow behind Drago's knee. "Not every opponent needs to see."

Barclay grins. "Here I was thinking that this was practice, but you apparently don't want me to take it easy on you."
He casts a spell, his armor seemingly becoming lighter than air. Cast Effortless Armor.
The paladin quickly circles around behind the dhampir to ready another attack.
Barclay spins with practiced but surprising speed to bring his wooden sword against Drago's side.

"Usually, no," Barclay says, shifting his weight. "This time I'll make an exception."
He closes the distance between himself and Drago, leading with his body rather than his sword. The dhampir barely sees the paladin begin his horizontal swing.
Barclay nods. "I should have some around here."
He goes to the side of his house and produces two wooden swords. The paladin tosses one at Drago.
Barclay chuckles. "A good idea."
Drago hears a voice behind him as he is practicing. "Bored?"
"Divitia and Esmerelda have their small house next to the tailor's shop at the north end of town," Barclay answers.
After being diverted from the fort, Drago ends up at Barclay's doorstep. The paladin opens the door after the dhampir knocks. "What brings you by?"
"If you'll come with me, Kyoga, was it? I'll get you set up for the night and see about getting you home in the morning," Barclay says, walking over to the tengu. He then nods at the group. "Have a good night."
"I'll talk to Kierk and perhaps Michael to see if we can do anything for your feathered friend," Barclay says. "I'll set him up with a room at the Common House and we can go from there. I don't think there is much else we can do for tonight."
"We've always known that there is more underground than we're aware of," Barclay says as they walk. "There are four drow cities, some dueragar and more probably. The bad thing is we don't know many specifics."
He glances at Gashka. "You can't hold someone against their will. You did nothing wrong."
Barclay stops two patrolling paladins and sends them off to find Jexxa with haste. He turns back to the group as they depart. "There's no telling what's beyond the gates these days or how far our protection extends."
"I didn't know there was another town nearby," Barclay says. "I better send a couple paladins to keep an eye on the girl you rescued."
He walks out the door and closes it behind him. "Let's go find a couple of them, while I think on it."
Barclay opens the door when you knock. He looks over the group. "I take it you've finished the job."
Barclay nods. "As you wish. You know where to find me."
The paladin heads out of the tavern.
"Sure, I'll just leave the key with you for now and I'll show you and Eldan the house when you have a chance," Barclay says.
Barclay comes up to Chris as he gets up and produces a key. "I needed to talk to you. We have a vacant house and I figured you and Eldan might like to share it. It'll give the ladies a bit more room and you won't have to sleep on a couch."
Barclay nods. "I don't see why not. She's at the Common House."
"Apparently she's here and was wanting to see you again," Barclay says. "She's eating with some of her companions right now."
Barclay looks at Derika and Vishanti. "Do you have a friend named Jerrica?"
Barclay chuckles at Eldan. "It's nothing like that."
He then nods at Gashka. "We can talk indoors."
Barclay nods. "Everything seems to be fine at the moment. I need to talk to Derika and Vishanti. And then Chris and probably you, Eldan."
The group sees Barclay approaching them as they walk to the house. He raises a hand in greeting to them.
Barclay nods and heads off.
"I'll be back in a bit," Barclay says. "I'm going to see if your friends are at home."
"Just 'Barclay' is fine," Barclay says before answering. "Yes, I met them the other day. They're doing a little work for me. They're staying in a house up the road. I can take you over there when you're ready."
Barclay shakes his head. "No, I figured if you have to leave, I wouldn't take up too much of your time."
Barclay goes to one of the doors and opens it. "She'll be inside here."

"My faith is not small," Barclay says in his defense. "There have been many strange things going on in this land for me to accept what new arrivals say at face value. If I had been more suspicious yesterday, we wouldn't have had an issue."
