Barad hears the report and grumps loudly. Preposterous! - and he grinds his teeth, pointing the weapon at the orcs - No one will leave that place alive! He casts longstrider at himself while he waits to see if the others were going to do some buffs and strategizing. Between his anger and his armor, it was hard for him to consider a stealthy approach.

Not sure if Kaz is coming back to us, but just wanted to send a general ping/question... Should we recruit another Dwarf? I think we have some good chemistry going on so far, and maybe we just need to pick up more on the rhythm. I'm guilty too, as I missed a couple days, but will put an effort to do better.
Male Dwarf Cleric (Crusader) 8
A combination of tha' two may be our best approach for now, lads. - finally speaks the grumpy, silent Barad, looking from afar with the others - I mean, scrying for information, resting and scouting the surroundings tae' avoid being surprised. I'm not the stealthier around, as you well know, and even with invisibility means they might hear me' breastplate from afar. May I suggest we go this route, Stonefoot gets his shiny fireworks back, and we approach once we have more information? Still around - sorry for the absence!

Barad smiles and moves towards the orcs, immediately starting his cleaving attacks. He positions himself with a rock to his side, trying to avoid exposing himself to being surrounded. He uses his reach weapon, but is ready to attack closer if needed with his boulder helmet. Move 5 feet west, 10 feet north First attack vs. pink, then blue, then red Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 1 + 2 = 27 Hatred, Favored Enemy
Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 35 Hatred, Favored Enemy, Orc Hewer
Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 11 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 23 Hatred, Favored Enemy, Orc Hewer

Still here! Sorry I didn't post any check up. It seems we finally will get sum' action after dealing with that flying fey, lads! - he says, keeping a low tone in case anyone wants to try a silent approach - If we manage tae' keep one breathing, we may be able to learn more about the happ'nings here. He taps his giantsticker and holds for a moment, pointing if forward and ready to move towards the enemies but waiting to see if anyone would try a different plan.

Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Barad sees the creature attacking his companion, and quickly adjusts with a side five-foot-step to attack it with his reach weapon. Attack 1: 1d20 + 11 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 1 - 2 = 18 Haste, Power Attack
Attack 2: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 9 Haste, Power Attack
Feeling the speed running through his veins, the ranger attacks yet again. Attack (Haste): 1d20 + 11 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 1 - 2 = 24 Haste, Power Attack
If we're in a forest, initiative is +2 higher. Favored enemies are Giants (+4) and Orcs (+2)

From my part, Barad isn't "turning back"; he will very much proceed forward until he's attacked or the creature or creatures reveal themselves - their mission is to find the warhammer and save their companions, and he doesn't know if the "treasure" is exactly Agrimmosh.
Male Dwarf Cleric (Crusader) 8
Barad crosses his arms as Stigmar speaks. As much as he wants to truly get rid of the orcs, they weren't there just for it - and whatever treasure this assailant could have, it could be what they were searching for. He patiently waits, trying to avoid any thoughts on his mind after the voice was heard there.

Sorry - just saw the GM post! We were writing at the same time :) Writing now my "after the GM action" post! ------------------------------------------- Barad turns back to talk to his companions. Bah, lads, if there's something I hate as much as an ole smelly giant, is an ole smelly spellcaster speaking in me rocky head. - the ranger says in a tone audible for his group, unaware if the assailant has a way to scry his words - What do you guys think? Not sure what this treasure would be, if 'tis what we seek or not.

Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Barad grumps loudly as he analyzes the happenings with the others. Aye, agreed. Whatever or whoever fried this ugly one, it mae' be friend or foe. The ranger casts longstrider at himself - despite having the same speed as his fellow dwarves, the extra feet in case a fight erupts will be precious. Rhen's strat is a fine one far' me. We should pick the pace... I'm still concerned with our brothers. - as he moves to assume his place in the formation, giant-sticker in hands.
Male Dwarf Cleric (Crusader) 8
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Assisting Stigmar I am just glad I don't see Dwarf bodies here! - says Barad, honestly happy to be finding only Orc bodies with the plant - But I'd be curious tae' where our brothers went from here. Survival: 1d20 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 3 = 35 Can Barad find the track of the Dwarves, instead of the Orcs'? Damn I just wasted 2 beautiful natural 20s! Of course when battle comes I will start rolling snake eyes :P
Male Dwarf Cleric (Crusader) 8
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Another +1 for giants
Orcs from Belkzen. - says Barad, impatiently looking at the bodies - Twisted Nail tribe, I'd say. The ranger moves around, tapping the ground and examining the tracks with brutal efficacy. Yeah, me lads, a large force of orcs ambushed Dwarves here, maybe seven nights ago give it or take it. Not everybody died... At least four hands o'orcs survived and headed Northeast. He is then pleasantly surprised, and follows up quickly. But ey! Look at that, huh? - his voice is excited - 'Tis faint, but I believe at least a couple of our boyos also headed there! Torag shall bless us with some live stone blood after all!

Barad grunts. I sparred with those kids! - he finally lets out, spilling some ale on the beard, which immediately gets lost across all the braids - 'Aye, commander, count with me blades tae' get the hammer back and find our brothers! He's dismayed, but gives space to the others to speak. His companions were already used to him and his outbursts, and this time it felt as if he's almost learning to control himself. Yet, he doesn't ask any questions at all, limiting himself to pull a small overused whetstone and start sharpening his axe.
Male Dwarf Cleric (Crusader) 8
Hm! - Barad grumps, before continuing - I'm getting rusty tae' be honest. The ranger had spent his timeoff patrolling the forests himself, but truthfully he mostly slept and drank than actually did anything truly useful. Ya' do me honor tae' be in your presence again, but now I'd love tae' hear more what's gonna be next for us. - she concludes, immediately feeling his mouth with a large piece of cheese.

@GM: I shifted Barad's gear to get him a +1 giant picker instead of the double battleaxe; I made the double battleaxe just masterwork instead of +1 for now, and replaced my spider's silk rope with a regular silk rope to be able to afford it. Despite that, Barad would likely be fighting with his battleaxe and shield for now, as I feel like Barad can be used in a more "tankish" mode for the time being until he gets shield brace. On the long run I will prefer him with the two-handed reach weapon (and shield via shield brace) as it works better for his cleaving style. If the change above is not okay, I will reverse it back, and apologize!

By Torag! Stigmar, me boyo, ya look even fatter than I remember from before. Ya gotta let them book rest a bit and try at least 'tae play with the ladies or doggos, huh? Barad isn't usually friendly, but the two weeks off put him on the edge. As much as he hates to admit, he misses the action. The Dwarf was of average height for the race, with long braided blond hair and beard poorly hiding his stern expression. Aye, just kidding, mate. Ya look great. I guess the centipede is taking good care of ya. The timeoff was too short! - he says, not really reflecting his actual feeling - But I know people missed me beautiful toned arms. He takes a long sip on the ale right after sitting, and pulls a large oaf of break that the breaks and starts munching as they wait for the others.

Barad went with an extra feat (ranger style gives Vital Strike, extra GM feat went to Great Cleave). I also added a plan for feats on the bottom of the sheet; I may change it to better help the party if needed, this is just some thinking ahead (but it gives the GM also an idea of what I see for Barad) - I'm thinking on actually shifting him to a two-handed melee reach weapon instead of his current double battleaxe, just want to make sure we're covered on closer melee before changing. Suggestions welcome, and will wait on GM approval for some changes to the equipment to reflect it (I might make the battleaxe just masterwork and use the +1 on a longhammer or similar reach dwarven weapon).

For the rangers - Barad and Kazidorr are very different! No need to change anything as far as I see, especially since one's a bowyer and the other is a cleaver :) both can do switch hitting anyway so I think we're golden. Stigmar seems to be covering all knowledges well, even for the ones he isn't maxing. Barad is maxing local(because, you know, giants) and I dropped dots on some of the others to support/aid another (dungeoneering and nature). Barad carries good survival and perception, and maybe even the Spellcraft can be useful on the long run. As for healing: if anyone is INT focused, maybe the Pragmatic Activator or similar Trait could be a way to do better with wands (plus, it's good to have someone capable of actually doing UMD when we need it). There are also similar traits to use WIS for CHA skills, I believe. Plus, since we're all dwarves, if anyone is going for more WIS, maybe we could be smart on the use of the Heal skill out of combat for deadly wounds? I guess we'd have to purchase some heal kits just in case. @GM: Could you open Gameplay just for us to dot? It makes easier finding the campaign :)
I tried to keep the background somewhat open, but if selected and once the GM decides exactly the point of story we will start, I hope to update it to match it. It would be great to maybe also tie backgrounds with some of my colleagues here, in case we're selected, especially since we're all Dwarves in the business of slaying giants (and cousin, business is a boomin'!)
Hi Qstor! I think it's still ongoing. I believe they're recruiting for a couple spots :) I'm still crossing my fingers here for my Dwarf ranger. Hopefully he can fit well on the party as a frontline cleaver of sorts! Between us - I never had the chance to use the Dwarf-specific feats before, so I'm hoping to leverage them and see if they work or if the character just becomes too "feat-starved". |
