About Barad Boulderplate

Born in the famous Boulderplate dwarven family from the Sky Citadels, Barad was expected to follow the tradition as a miner and smith, but instead his passion was different - that of forest life, out in the sun. The mines of the Boulderplate in the Menador Mountains suffered with the overall orc infestation, so from a very early age it was easy for Barad to justify his excursions to outside in hunting parties.

The nearby goblins and even the orcs from Belkzen were somewhat dangerous, but Barad could deal with them, almost to the point of specializing in trimming the orc population while roaming the forests and logging. Yet, the rise of giant activity was a much, much larger threat, and such troubles slowly started to push the Boulderplates away from the region.

Eventually his parents, uncles, cousins, and siblings decided it was for the best to flee and seek other lands - fact that was accelerated when his grandfather, the great patriarch of the clan and a wise and peaceful man, was killed by giants. By that time Barad was already a fully fledged ranger, and decided to stay behind. He started to negotiate with the local Human settlements and to dedicate himself to study the giants, in the hope of someday bringing his family back to their mines.
