"If your father is in there rotting, the best way to keep him from rising against you is to burn it. And if you have no desire to return here, set the entire house aflame so his ashes mingle with those of the house." He looks back toward the church, then over to Ismark. Is there reason you do not bury him in the church cemetary, or is that place not safe from the touch of this devil?"

So as not to cause too much of a commotion, Balandusk waits outside around the corner. He kneels down just below the window, and keeps his ears open to the conversations inside as best he can. Taking into account what the old priest said about his appearance. He makes a mental note to ask one of the others to find him a cloak with a deep hood, and possibly a cloth to cover his face.

Balandusk follows Bazim and the priest outside after a not-so-restful night. He starts to tear up as this is something he remembers having to do back at the monastery.

Balandusk joins the others on the main floor of the church, and helps Bazim board up the window.

"This... thing... I don't think it should be allowed to live any longer, and cause terror and destruction to anyone else. I would have to agree with Urnir on this. Besides, she seems to know more about this place than any one of us."

Balandusk launches a bolt of radiant energy at Doru.

Radiant Bolt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Disadvantage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 I think you said ranged attacks have disadvantage down here?
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 radiant damage

Balandusk curses and tries to grab Doru off of Bazim.

Going for a grapple attempt. Strength (athletics) vs target's Strength (athletics) or Dexterity (acrobatics)

Grapple: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Balandusk follows Urnir and Bazim down into the cellar. He tries to focus on finding the priest's child in the darkness.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 (in case he would have disadvantage)

"So the priest is telling us to do what he cannot. Should we open the door and put his son out of their misery?" Balandusk looks down at the trapdoor. "I personally think we should. I just hope the priest doesn't turn on us for it."

Balandusk looks at the others. "I don't know what we should do." He looks at the priest. "Did you say your boy has been here a month? Most people would have been dead going that long without food or water. Yet he still lives?"

Balandusk looks at Urnir, and over at the priest. "Are you saying we should trust the words of a drunken lunatic and not those of a child being tortured by not being given food and water?"

Balandusk follows Urnir, and winces as Bazim shatters (I am assuming) the window.
"I don't know if doing that will endear us to those inside, but I guess we had no other choice."

"I would agree. Church first. I am a little leery of what we would find in the tavern in this... place."

Balandusk looks at all the rags, and grabs a small blanket to tie around his waist. "I guess this will have to do for now." After finally covering up, he follows Emron.

"How can one person do such a thing?" Balandusk asks as he joins the others in the search for clothing.

Balandusk uses the shortsword to attack the undead nearest him...

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

...then uses his Martial Arts to strike again
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Balandusk takes the shortsword given to him when the others left that house, and strikes at the zombie in front of him...
Shortsword Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 piercing damage
...and uses his bonus action to make an unarmed attack at the zombie
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 bludgeoning damage

Sure. Luckily I am proficient with the skill, so hopefully my roll won't be as bad as my attack roll

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Balandusk does similar to Urnir, using a ki point to do the Disengage action as a bonus action to follow her up the stairs. When he gets to the top, he turns and tosses another radiant bolt at the zombie that attacked him.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 radiant damage (if it hit)

Balandusk's chest glows slightly, and he lets forth a blast of golden radiant energy towards a zombie.
Radiant Sun Bolt attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1 radiant damage.

He reaches deep inside himself, and finds the power to release 2 more blasts (using 1 ki point to make 2 more Radiant Sun Bolt attacks).
Radiant Sun Bolt attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2 radiant damage.
Radiant Sun Bolt attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 4 radiant damage.

Each attack going for the same zombie

Balandusk moves into the house, and positions himself to let loose his breath weapon, trying not to hit Urnir, and as many zombies as he can.

Breath Weapon: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8 necrotic damage. DC 12 Con save for 1/2 damage.

Balandusk follows Emron, hoping for some houses that are not occupied if they are just going to break into the houses.

"Who is this Lord Strahd? If he is such a terrible leader, why do these people cower and not stand against him?" He looks at the village, and says more to himself, "How can he influence this village so greatly?" He raises his voice so he knows the others can hear. "They see me as a monster, hmm? That can be addressed. We just need to get me some clothing to cover me, and a hooded cloak to hide my face better. But that seems to be the hard part."

"I know nothing of this world. You, however, seem to be familiar. Usually a church is the best place to go. Curious why you say an abandoned house would be safer."

Balandusk takes the shortsword from Emron. "Thank you, my friend." He steps away from the view of the people within the house, hoping they can find some clothing for him to cover himself.

Balandusk stands up and looks towards the castle on the mountainside. "You want us to go there?" He turns his attention to Urnir. "That lightning strike was rather ominous. I'm not quite sure why we should go there, but if you say we must, then I will follow. But first," he moves his hands to cover himself, "I would like to find some clothes."

Are there any people around, or is this area devoid of people? I'd like to find some clothes, though I wouldn't be able to afford any as my money was destroyed as well. I guess it's a good thing I went with monk, as his fighting ability isn't hindered by not having any gear. Honestly, I didn't even think of that when I chose the class. Just a happy little coincidence

Went ahead and leveled to 3.

"Here?" He looks around with a confused look. "I have no idea where here is. As for your other question, I am alive, if you want to put it that way. So no, you haven't died that I am aware of." He glances from Bazim to Urnir. "I do hope she's alright."

Balandusk looks over at the others as he sits up. He starts to stand, but then remembers what always happens when he "wakes up". "While I am glad that you are so happy to see me, you wouldn't happen to have my old clothes, would you?"

Of course, Balandusk has no idea why Urnir has that reaction, or what the reaction is about.

that's a mighty powerful maul you got, Emron:)

Hope everything goes well.

No worries :) I believe we are all still here

Just waiting to come back to life :)

Sorry for the lack of activity, again. I promise after this convention is over, I will post more frequently.

I did make mention about taking my body away from here so I wouldn't have to go through this house again, when I stepped onto the dais and the ghosts started chanting.

Balandusk takes in a deep breath, and then lets out a cloud of blackish-purple energy at the creature. Using the breath weapon attack

Breath Weapon damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10 necrotic damage to all creatures in a 15-foot cone. Constitution saving throw DC 12. Tried to position to where only Lorghoth gets hit.

Balandusk stops abruptly and turns around, looking at the apparitions in black robes. His shoulders slump and he gives a sigh. "I should have known something bad would happen if I was dumb enough to step on this stone."

His gaze turns to the others. "I'm sorry everyone. I hope this doesn't turn out badly for you. Just promise me one thing. If I am to die here, take my body out of here. I'd hate to do this all over again." He readies his quarterstaff.

Balandusk ducks under the portcullis and enters the room. "If there was chanting down here, I don't see the ones who made the noise."

He sloshes through the water and heads up onto the octagonal area in the middle.

Went with average HP (5 + con mod). Profile updated

Waking up from his rather unexpected nap, Balandusk feels slightly refreshed. He caught the conversation about losing another member, closing his eyes and shaking his head in sorrow.

He follows Bazim and the others across the table. "The quicker we are out of this cursed house, the better."

Sorry for the long silence, but I should be good now.

I agree with Bazim and Urnir. I'll also post again when I have the time as things are getting rather hectic around here.

Balandusk moves in to attack the creature, swinging with his quarterstaff two-handed.
Quarterstaff attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
quarterstaff damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 bludgeoning damage (if hit)
He then plants the butt of the staff on the floor and uses it as a balance to kick the creature (bonus action Unarmed Strike)
Unarmed attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Unarmed damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 bludgeoning damage (if hit)

Balandusk seems a little apprehensive about disturbing the tombs. "I don't know if disturbing the dead is a good idea. On the other hand, the dead seem to be already disturbed in this place, so I am sure opening the other tombs couldn't make things worse."

How are we doing hp as we level? I couldn't find anything mentioned previously.

Balandusk follows the others through the door and down the stairs.

Will level him up once I can find my PHB

Sorry for the inactivity, had stuff going on

Balandusk seems to be in a fog, the removal of the spirit must have been more jarring than he thought. He sees the spirit of the woman attack Bazim and fall to the floor. This snaps him out of his stupor and he scrambles to his feet, his claws making a scraping noise on the floor. As he reaches the room, he is greeted by Emron cleaving the spirit, which revived Bazim. He rushes over to Bazim to see if he is alright, feeling a bit helpless at not being able to reay the help the dwarf showed him but a few minutes before.

"Are you ok?"

Balandusk feels the fear drain from him, and the exhaustion of his encounter with the adult female angry ghost hits him hard.
"I am feeling alright, though I would feel much better without Emron holding me down, though."

Balandusk feels an overwhelming presence of fear enter his being. His body being held down by one dwarf and his head by the other, the fear begins building stronger. He struggles to free himself from the dwarves, his eyes wide in terror.

"Well that was a bit harsh, but not entirely unwarranted." Balandusk looks around the room and says to no one in particular, "Thank you for showing us the secrets of the house."
He makes to follow the others to the basement. "Maybe we could put the spirits of the children to rest if we head to this basement."

Balandusk is taken aback at the site of the skeletons of the children. As Bazim prays, and the cold air coming from the dollhouse enters the room, he gets a puzzled look. "The dollhouse seems to be reacting to your prayers."
