I'm confused - did the warharose die and get resummoned? Are they in the pit or flying above? Was that a new action? I was waiting to see the result of the pit before taking my Round 4 action, so did we just skip that? I am going to proceed as if the horse is in the pit and the Dullahan is not, because that's the closest I can figure to what happened.

August steps up to pound on the horseman while he is without a mount.

Too bad about haste, that could have made a big difference!

Poor Will...

August feels the pain of a trapped and likely doomed friend, and takes it out on the large mostrosity in front of him.

GM:
I didn't think there was any issue with metal numchaku connected with a chain. They were a relatively new purchase, though, so this is the first time they were used. I know they are commonly made of wood, but I saw examples of metal ones online, but if you think this is a no-go, I'll swap with some other monk weapon that bludgeons... perhaps cestus or brass knuckles? I guess they wouldn't be brass anymore though... :)

Scout aid token (Allied Offensive, not heroic) - Probably to a lower or mid-tier table. Agree - it is certainly a time of high tension, and that often leads to frustration and pain. We have to remember that this is our diversion from the harsh realities of life! Maybe let's all take a breath and put in perspective.

I know most of us also serve as GMs, and as such sometimes will interpret specific things differently within the rules. That's ok - it happens, and sometimes we will even just be wrong - that's ok too.

I think discussion of a rule, even a disagreement, doesn't need to become an argument, and let's face it - written messages don't always convey the tone or compassion that the writer may be feeling. So unless it becomes clear that there is bad blood, maybe just default to assuming not.

I, for one, would not like to see Anwar leave us. This is supposed to be a very dangerous scenario, and losing a character - especially one as experienced and versatile - could really hurt.

On the other hand, even if allow the GM to interpret some rules differently, when this seriously hamstrings the way a character is meant to be played, this really drives the enjoyment factor into the ground.

Given that GM Ilmakis conceded the first discussion in our favor, I think it shows a willingness to hear us out and make adjustments. As a player, I appreciate this - as a GM, I appreciate it even more! I make mistakes all the time, and don't mind learning new things each time I play. So if you disagree with a rule, I certainly would prefer you bring it up fro discussion.

Maybe this one works out in our favor, maybe not - but I do think Khellek makes a good suggestion to at least allow a character adjustment if there are big differences in understanding.

Personally, I don't see the argument here for not allowing freedom of movement. My understanding is that it is a magical effect that prevents difficult terrain from affecting you, regardless of cause. I don't even think it matters why - I mean, you can move normally in web or underwater, so whether it is grabbing roots or large rocks, I think it still works. And it's a 4th level spell, so it really should have a big impact on the game.

Anyway, short story I think is let's encourage discussion and be flexible to maximize everyone's enjoyment of the game, and by all means let's stick together and see this through! There's too much real-world scary stuff out there to not just relax and get away a bit here.

OK, off my soapbox. :)

"What have you witnessed. I am afraid our own scouts could only give us the basic knowledge that we face many undead and that perhaps some sort of ritual may be going on? We want to stop it, but if you have any information that can help, it will only improve our chances. Plus, you can then report back that you helped a small army to do what you knew needed to be done."

"And, do you have a way into the catacombs that they might not be expecting us to use?"

I did some googling to see what I could find, and it seems this particular part of it is debated. I did not see any clear consensus (not that you often do in these cases). I think it is a little more odd in that both participants here are large and also sharing some but not all of the same space.

My two cents is that since the grappled can attack the grappler and no one else, then they do threaten the grappler (and no one else), even though they don't get AoO. That's the way I am going to rule on my table, but I will defer to the GM in this game how he wants to run it.

Have not played that one.

Sarenrae, eh? Fair enough. We are Pathfinders, here to stop a growing evil before it can expand its power and reach. Clearly, the effects in this place do not bode well for the rest of the world if we fail. Will you allow us to pass without trouble?"

I have some questions in discussion, but I see Anwar has moved to a good position which at least answers the question of "do I now flank". If the DR is something I can recognize, I will forgoe the flurry this round to instead draw an appropriate weapon (nunchaku if adamantine is required or kama if I know silver or slashing will be more effective). Both I can use in a flurry, but I think I need a move action to draw them, so I would use that plus power attack instead.

If I understand the DR:

Attack, power attack, heroism, inspired, haste, flank: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 11 - 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 25
Damage, PA, inspired: 1d6 + 5 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 4 + 2 = 17

If I don't understand the DR:

Unarmed flurry attack, haste, heroism, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 34
Damage, inspired, sneak: 1d8 + 7 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 + (5, 2) = 17

Unarmed flurry attack, haste, heroism, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 39
Damage, inspired, sneak: 1d8 + 7 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 + (5, 2) = 17

Unarmed flurry attack, haste, heroism, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 19
Damage, inspired, sneak: 1d8 + 7 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 + (1, 6) = 19

Haste extra attack, haste, heroism, inspired, flank: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 36
Damage, inspired, sneak: 1d8 + 7 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 + (4, 6) = 25

Before I act again, I need to know how this plays out.

First, is the no sneak just based on the flank/no flank question?

Second, can I tell what the DR is? My hands are considered +2 weapons and bludgeoning, so if it is a metal type, I may not know, but if slashing or piercing would be more effective, I have other options.

Once we determine the ruling on threat, on flanking I was under the impression that
1. Large flankers count from any space they occupy
2. Flanking occurs if you can draw a line between the two characters that crosses opposite corners or opposite sides. This would mean that it does not necessarily need to cross the middle point.

I don't mean to be troublesome, but a fair amount of my character's usefulness will be based on us being on the same page here.

Thanks!

August sees the cat in the fray, and steps to the side to take advantage of a flanking position.

I don't know if a plant can be flanked, but I don't know of any rule against it.

Unarmed flurry attack, haste, heroism, inspired: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 20

Whatever you think. I am grabbing some holy water and additional alchemical fires for myself.

I vote yes for the heroes feast. This sounds from the briefing that we are charging right in, and even if it doesn't last the whole time, if we split it we gain a lot for a little cost.

Add +1 enhancement to Amulet of Mighty Fists (6000 to go to +2)
Upgrade cloak of resistance to +2 (3000)

"A haramaki? I haven't seen one of these in a while. You must be well-travelled."

I have a wand of mage armor and a wand of endure elements, both of which I will use on myself but others are welcome to do so as well - I have lots of charges, and if I die here, they will just go to waste. I'm going to have to change up one of my aid characters, because I am using it in another table. I will probably need a lvl 4 pregen instead, because I don't think I have another core level 5 or up. But I need to check to see if I have any not yet applied chronicles (which I often do...)

August Dupine here, might fit the bill. Was supposed to be in a game day game that never seemed to happen. Hard boiled detective type, monk/rogue classes.

I'm still working up the details, but I am envisioning a Brawler/Investigator... someone who was educated despite a "kid from the streets" background who decided on a career of research and investigation... that is until he started seeing too much. His method of dealing with it was to resort to self-medication - first with over-imbibing, and then using some of his knowledge to dabble in chemical concoctions. Perhaps his amnesia is simply a result of his medicinal remedies... or perhaps it is something deeper in his psyche. Either way, he is just barely hanging on...
