Atrios takes one last look at his friends. His eyes well up with tears.
Brave Miles, Canny Netheran, Artful Tetch I will miss you all!" He nods at the new Atrios, takes a deep breath and steps into the rift.
Not really hearing Netheran's Atrios is consumed with a vision.

Recently I expressed a desire to retrain Atrios with the forlorn elf stats and as a witchwarper. I feel like now would be a perfect time to have the 'other' Atrios appear and switch places.
Atrios tries to unlock the door
"No I'm good," says Atrios lost in thought. He also seems to be making faces as if he were reacting to something someone said but it clearly not anything the other members of the group have said.
Atrios approaches the Shipping container and examines it.
"It had better be something amazing!" says Atrios. "I will lose it if it turns out we went through all this for an anti-climax..."
Well, hopefully we won't have to do anything but clean up..."
Atrios mutes the quarantine message before getting to work.
Atrios lets loose three more of the force bolts at the familiar creature.
"Oh imagine how awesome it would be if this worked!"says Atrios, rubbing his hands together in glee. "I'll have to go to engineering to make it happen though,"
"I think so...," said Atrios, "let me see..."
"Hey Atrios, before he died, was your Miles ever uncomfortable around you?"
Atrios says nothing blinking back tears. Those logs are heartbreaking! Whatever is going on, more and more lives are being thrown away. But what for?
Atrios wiped away more tears.

"There's a firewall. I can get past it, I think," says Atrios. "I just hope I don't trip up on anything nasty!"
Atrios brushes his forehead, his hand shaking. If it weren't for these two rescuers arriving int he nick of time, then they would have been done for! Tech's telepathic prompt wakes him up a bit and he excuses himself. He goes over to the nearest console to access the ship's computer and runs a ship-wide diagnostic. Then he tries to reactivate the life support systems so they can give their suits a break.
Atrios spins his head around and screams:
Taking advantage of their timely arrival. Atrios runs over to stand next to Tetch. He has to hope that Netharan and Miles are still alive and unconscious. Magic exists to raise the dead but Atrios has no clue where to find someone who can swing a miracle that big.
Tears are streaming down Atrios' face as brave Miles and steady Netharan are struck down by the monsters. Screaming in anger, he fires again.
useless, useless, useless! thought poor Atrios.
Atrios' weapon wouldn't do much good would it? There was only one way to find out.
Atrios blinks back tears as Netharan gives voice to the hopelessness of the situation. He touches his computer and uses the data therein to summon more bolts. This can't be the end of them, it just can't!
Is he spell-coding the magic missiles wrong? They're not coming out right...
"I can do this two more times by the way!" says Atrios summoning more magic missiles at the same creature he struck before. He casts a worred glance at Miles and Netharan.
Well, After Tech makes his move, Atrios will cast Magic missile as a full round action but will send one bolt to each creature.
Hopefully they can get to the bridge and then Atrios can see about gettinglife support back online... ...right after they deal with more of those nasties.
Ok this is not good thinks Atrios. The other's attacks aren't working as well as they should. Maybe if he fired directly? Maybe. But what if cryo beams don't work either? Atrios decides to try something new.
There it IS again! Atrios should be terrified or at least wary, and he is, but he's also excited. The tension builds, especially knowing that he can actually see farther than the others in this dodgy light. He could work in the dark if he had to thanks to a useful mod he put into his armor. And now a... blob of some sort is careening towards them! Hells yeah!
Suit up? With what? thinks Atrios before remembering that his body suit is actually Second Skin Armor. He fumbles a bit before finding the discreet activation pressure point. The thin force field activates placing a small amount of pressure on his skin. "Ready!" he says.
Atrios goes back to the Engineering console. He does a quick diagnostic of the sensors. "The sensors seem to be fine but I run a diagnostic just to be sure. I doubt I can cut through the interference,"he says. Maybe we should just dock at one of the airlocks?
Atrios wanders over to the shuttle's window to gaze up the derelict with his own eyes.
You hear Atrios scream "MAXIMUM POWER!".
"Are we winning?" wailed Atrios "ARE WE WINNING?!?!?!"
Atrios was finding this skirmish less amusing by the minute. This necroglider was too quick!
"Oh wait, should I have diverted power to propulsion instead? TETCH!!" panicked Atrios."I mean Captain,"
Atrios prefers to keep silent during these situations. Tech and Netharan are so smooth and always seem to know exactly what to say. When refreshments are offered he smiles and accepts graciously.
As he sips away, he thinks about how wonderful the trip in the shuttle was. Having your own ship is such independence! I wonder if we can get a drift-capable vessel of our own one day?!?!. Atrios has a 'feeling' that wish might come true. He doesn't know if it was true prophecy or wishful thinking but he wanted to believe that things were looking up. |
