![]() Power of choice, you don't have to like it, but nothing here should give you and anyone else the sense of authority of muck up someone's thread. Besides, GW may have granted them the settlements, but it was we the players that voted for them to have it. So where should the blame actually lay? Soon enough other players can seek to claim their own settlements once the mechanics are in place. And eventually maybe even overthrow current leaders. ![]()
![]() @Damocles It's all there, if something eludes you, feel free to inquire about any of those specifics. I think that in part is what diplomacy is all about.
@Bluddwolf Oh bludd, you lost any credibility when you threw in the towel and ran like a spoiled baby when the game didn't manifest itself into what you wanted. You made Aragon irrelevant, not me sir. I continue to at least seek the style of play I want for myself and my company within the realm of possibilities that still exist. I don't hide on the forums, sniping other peoples threads about the promise of Aragon, rather of what Aragon will never be. As for taxes, I fully expect some form of taxation to be imposed by some if not all of the established settlements at some point. That's generally what happens in a feudal type system. I do not balk at the idea, but embrace the symbolism of it. ![]()
![]() Envoys from the Xeilias Empire sat across the table, hands folded, staunch in their unwavering means of producing no facial gestures. After much discussion, only the sound of birds chirping, signaling the end of the day, lingered as I pondered a final response. I already knew the answer. There had always only been one answer. For weeks, since Allegiant Gemstone Company took up residence in the Imperial town of Kreuz Bernstein, there had been a strong effort from Imperial factions to integrate the company in with the day to day operations of the Empire. In short, they wanted us to bend to the knee and become citizens. The offer was tempting and for those weeks I skirted the line between becoming a citizen and running an independent company. I wanted to fit in, to pull my weight and in so doing subjected my members to radical changes. They took up the challenges with the zeal and relevance I’ve to expect and admire. Qualities commonly found throughout the company. As we moved across country, we explored the new area and quickly even jumped into the Empire’s conflict with the southern city states. The allure of the Empire had its effect on us, but it began to fade and we began to fall back on the core beginnings of the company. Now all I need do is say yes. One little word confirm, no actually to reaffirm what we had always been. An independent company. Our identity isn’t the Empire, Golgotha or Banditry. Rather we are the fighting merchants of tomorrow and will continue to pursue that course. By saying yes I do not reject the Empire and all it has to offer. They have been gracious hosts. I only say yes to the Allegiant Gemstone Company and its future endeavors, wherever they lead. With a yes, AGC becomes just a private business who takes up residence in Kreuz Bernstein. Subject to their laws and taxes as would any other fitting company under the umbrella of the Empire, but having no obligations otherwise to the Empire. In reality that is all we ever wanted. Why the pause? The allure of citizenship is strong. They are good folk. Their benevolent leader is, well benevolent. However, the answer was always yes. The question was just never asked until now. So yes. My answer was yes. The envoys stood, gave a nod in unison, and exited the room. Silence engulfed the room eventually driving me to the Tavern. ![]()
![]() AGC is glad to open its doors once again and welcome any and all ambitious candidates. We welcome all to read the brochure on our establishment and stop by with any questions or to sign up!
We are independent in all things, just as a business is in America, or Germany, or any other country, so to is AGC where ever it decides to reside in PFO. We strive to challenge ourselves and the game itself where applicable. While we play for today, our main focus is actually on tomorrow. We are building for a distant future, gradually laying the foundations that may one day give birth to a Merchant Empire. Do not mistake us for the corner shop in the market, for we may expand, encroach, bribe, coerce, use diplomacy, assassinate, go to war or just flat-out out compete with others to accomplish our goals. We are the fighting Merchants of Golarion! We are full of ambitious, self-sufficient, hearty, independent and mature individuals who desire more than the cookie cutter company and here at AGC we hope to offer just that. Something a little different, something with a little edge to it, and something not afraid to take risks. We are not communal in the traditional sense. You have to earn and work for what you want. The company itself sees everything as a value, including your time. We have our own internal market structure where you can buy and sell to the company. All items bought from the company are done so at a profit to the company so you own those items completely. What does that mean? It means you are free to do with them as you see fit, sell them on the open market, use them for yourself, or trade them to another player without feeling as if you're taking away from the company. We do encourage trade(barter) between members, but the company itself only deals in copper. We are new player friendly and will help you get on your feet. We have a very limited command structure giving you, the member, the flexibility to both seek adventures on your own or join in the many company events. Everything is optional in AGC. We run a casual company in a fake world. We are a company of players, by players, and for players. Come help steer us into the unknown, join a place where your ideas are just as valuable as you are. We believe in a realistic approach to the game and diplomacy. Avoiding gamey tactics, and have a zero policy towards exploits. "You can role-play without role-playing" We support the "Don't be a jerk" doctrine.
Additionally, you may PM me on the Paizo Forum, again @ Atheory Feel free to visit our website @ Allegiant Gemstone Company

![]() @Decius I understand this might be a hard concept to grasp, but AGC is an independent company and always has been. While we now reside within the Empire of Xeilias, we still maintain a great deal of that independence. With that independence comes an inherent set of responsibilities in being citizens of the Empire. I won't bore you with the internal politics of the Empire except to add: Phyllain as the leader of this Empire can do as he please, such as to support the actions of AGC or not. I am merely clarifying, at least attempting to, that diplomatic dialogue can be established with AGC on matters involving the AGC. People can bypass us and go directly to Gologtha, the capital of the Empire and seek an audience with the Benevolent Leader if they wish, but in many cases this actually wouldn't be necessary with cordial discussions between the originally involved parties. As always, should those talks fail, then go up the ladder. ![]()
![]() bad credit? Can I cash that in somewhere...... AGC is widely misunderstood, but it's okay. Someday the rest of the world will catch up to us. It's not a matter of distancing ourselves from Golgotha, I will gladly let the big boys handle their own. But the earlier argument had revolved around the base camp, now, I view it, this has been discussed for what it is, and now the action itself of farming in "proclaimed" EBA territory can rightfully be discussed. ![]()
![]() I thought that went without saying, and I am surprised this thread has lasted this long. It is amusing to see how easily things can escalate. Until things improve on the diplomatic side, with the leaders discussing in earnest and hammering out issues, this will continue to happen. Perhaps this is what most want after all and we are seeing the fruits of that desire now. ![]()
![]() Let us broaden this otherwise declaration of lines on a map. How does one go about obtaining permission to harvest in your "claimed' territory. Are there limitations? If not, do you trade? trade what for what? rates? Who speaks for the EBA? Are request completed by committee or still done at the individual settlement level? Just yesterday a Phaeros officer, who I will not name, plainly stated they have policies that the rest of the EBA do not. Where is the consistent message? Will Phaeros honor something agreed to by another settlement in the EBA. Help me, help you. Atheory

![]() In a world of politics, where nearly anything is possible, I would not expect anything less. I see no difference between an acquisition through means outside the game as with one made within the game. Also, GW could see it as a means to maintaining settlement viability. Perhaps the new owner can bring life to it in some way, maybe they will pocket it so no one else does, maybe its another settlement to add to an empire/nation.... I would not be concerned, but rather excited at the possibilities. And there is yet more to come!
