But the only things that I have on order are the Core book (ordered waaaay back) and the Beastery. I combined these two orders when the Beastery was first announced for August or September (in any case, when it was first announced back in November last) to save on shipping, and thinking it might arrive around my b-day. I too have the shipping date as pending for November. I am not subscribed to anything atm :( (I wish, but...)

In Frostburn there is a template for a Spirit Animal (+1 cr)that could be tacked on (although I am now looking at the book and nowhere is the OGL :( ) at a higher level. Or at least something along that line. I too would like to see the Necromancy school have powers that could be used on both sides of the boneyard, and blame the bad necro rep on the few who use them for the Dark side. They are not subtle and would ruin it for the rest of us. Is it SOOOO wrong to want to know just how the spark of life works? I ask you, is it really immoral if you remove it, scientifically of course, from someone when you know you can return it later? What harm is there if it is all for the greater good? A great stride in the name of Science? *ahem* Will slink off to my lab now. Sorry.

Would that mean "select few" or "pre-ordered" or "subscribed to something or other"? I am aware that I might be a bit pushy here, but I need to get this done quick before I drool all over the keyboard ;)
LOL I just happen to be on the downhill side towards 50 (and drawing maps since my teens) and have no real need to pad the CV. I draw my land masses by hand (shock gasp) and was looking more for a program that has decent terrain features built in. I do already have Corel Draw (ver 6 though - shows you how long I have been trying to get this sh*t down - and failing!) and have just about given up coming up with a descent representation of terrain features. Same thing applies to doing it by hand (but even longer - goes through spurts but can never get it right). Hence the plea. Having said all that, where can I get info about Gimp (will be gooooogling it soon)and/or download it? and how is it's tutorial?
I am looking for a decent but FREE mapping software that is good at adding terrain features and stuff like that. I am (I think so anyway) good at coming up with decent land masses and have the means to scan them, but I absolutely SUCK at the things like mountain ranges and forests and other terrain features like that. Anyone know of a free software that could handle that for me? Pretty please? I'm on my knees begging here! (And wipe that thought RIGHT out of your mind right now buddy. You might lose it instead!)

This also has the benefit of having the cleric losing the divine bonus if they fall out of favor with "Big Daddy". Having said that I think that they should still get a bonus at 1st level, justified as the indoctrination that they go through in order to become a cleric.

This ability functions like the command spell, but the mount must make a DC 21 Spellcraft check to succeed if the target is being ridden at the time. If the check fails, the ability does not work that time, but it still counts against the mount’s daily uses. The way I read this is that the mount must use it's Spellcraft skill to be able to use this ability. My question is: Are we expected to list skills for animal companions now? While the mount is indeed smarter than most equines, the text in question seems to imply that they should also have a decent grasp of high magical concepts if they are to be able to pass a high DC skill check while suffering a negative in the associated stat. Why is the mount rolling a skill check as opposed to the target having to roll a save, possibly using HD as caster level? Or am I miss reading this?

My suggestion, off the top of my head would be to take both Plant and Animal domains 9might make it look more Druidic though) and pick up some levels in Survival and Knowledge (Nature). Ehlonna's favored weapon is the Longbow so you get that as a proficiency, and that would also help with the Ranger feel. Another one would be to give the cleric a few ranger levels. Explain it as being so "one with the spirit of Ehlonna" that he is also developing those skills as well. I built a Cleric/Ranger follower of Nature as a mental exercise and that was the way I went. :edit: Damn, didn't notice the "elf" part. I still would go with the two Nature domains though
actually that link goes to a table top card game the link that the OP was refering to is: LINK

I was wondering, just how much crossover there is between this book and the Gazzeteer? I am interested in picking both up, but the budget is way too tight to justify picking both up if the amount of shared info is too great. From what I have seen and heard so far, Paizo is not in the habit of gouging their customers by publishing two books of similar material, but need to know in order to justify the expense to "higher" (my past spending record has brought me to this sad, sad point so no one to blame but myself :( )
So...I am guessing that the days of the dog-eared pages and bits of papers used as bookmarks in the PHB have gone the way of the Dodo bird... Seriously, save the bookmarks or ribbons for special editions. Color coding or thumb prints on the side of the pages would go a loooong way to making quick searches easier. Failing that a piece of loose leaf always worked for me. EDIT: true, the paper bits lack style but.....
sort of off topic a bit here, but...(blame Gamer Girll) Back in the day when Wings was big, I was waiting in line at a record store (Discus if anyone remembers the name) when I heard the person in front of me ask about "Paul McCartney's "other band". When the cashier asked questioningly "the Beatles?" the costumer said, and I swear to the Gods that this is true, "no thats not it, it was BEFORE Wings". On topic, I had to walk away from an "discussion" about Conan and what class he would be. The other person stated that he began playing with 2nd edition and was could quote from some TSR source (and holding it up as an authority on the subject) and that I had no idea what I was talking about. Even though I had been playing DnD since '80 and was at the time holding 2 Conan books written by REH himself, he insisted that they were written AFTER the supplement.
There have been a few threads over the last bit that I would have liked to keep track of. However there is no way of doing so unless you have the time to look through all of the threads, if you remember which forum it was in. This is a bit of a problem for me (my memory SUUUCKS) and I find that it is much easier to look up threads in my account on various others sites and see if there are new posts for the threads that I am interested in. Are there future plans for subscribing to threads, and tracking them somehow?

Actually Pathos, the line should have read "as well as HEALING his party" :( . I guess that is the result of being up waaaay too late and trying to type. Am I really the only one who sees a problem with either healing your enemies or killing your allies depending on your alignment?
I haven't actually play the game yet (still reading the Alpha3) but have read the write-up on Chanelling energy. I must say that either I am missing something or there is a major "typo". Here is my problem - A group of adventurers are suprised by an evil necromantic cleric and his minions (both undead and deprived living). The party is surrounded and are taking a beating. The party cleric channels positive energy harming the undead all around him, as well as his party, but unfortunately also the evil minions. The necromancer decides to channel evil energy healing up his remaining undead, but watches his living minions drop dead on the spot (not that he minds the extra bodies, but.....) Am I really miss reading the way channeling energy works? I would think that the cleric could choose which living gets healed, but that is not how it is written. Arda
A "quick" time line is needed here..... Mid Last year a friend introduced me to Dungeon Magazine (and I must admit to being very ashamed of that fact - been playing D&D and others since 1980) shortly after - found out that Paizo was bumped by WotC yesterday talked to a Game Shop owner who mentioned Pathfinder (he told me that it was a "new version of Dungeon" and that Paizo was going to be putting out a "3.75 version" I then went home and looked up Paizo on the internet and have been reading the Alpha and the two released arcs constantly since. (GF will not be happy when I tell her that I will be getting back into DMing ;) ) Great news and awaiting with baited breath |
