Another plus to 3d printing mini-figures is you can get them in lots of different materials!
Shapeways Materials
iMaterialize Materials
Click on each of the materials shown on the website to see examples of what it looks like printed.

I'm not quite sure what the prices involved would be, I know 3d printing a model the size of a mini-figure would not be all that much. How much would you expect to pay for something like this?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Hello Paizo community! Man its been a while since I've posted here, almost three and a half years!

What I'm posting was a question to the Paizo community, would you be interested in custom mini-figures of your characters? I know lots of gamers, me included, have commissioned artists to create portraits and origional art of characters that we have fallen in love with. What I can offer is custom mini-figures of custom characters that you can use in your gaming sessions or to display.

A little about how the models that will be created. The models will be created with Autodesk Maya and Pixologic Zbrush, but thats just the digital side. To give you a "hold in your hand" version of your favorite character I will turn to either Shapeways or iMaterialize, both are fantastic 3D printing companies that I have worked with before and offer fantastic quality and the detail of the finished models is astounding. A plus to custom characters like this is I can make you into the "elven archer", adding a little personalization to your character

Let me know if you would be interested in this! Please let me know if you have any comments, questions, poo and rotten veggies to fling.....

I'm terribly sorry to say that I will have to drop out of this campaign, school has just gotten to busy (being finals) and trying to keep up with my job, homework, and this thread is just to much. I have thourally enjoyed this game so far and wish the remaining players the best of luck. ;-)

Assuming that you are going with the Offensive Class you need to drop one feat. You get two + the weapon profeciency. I would drop the lightning reflexes and plan on picking it up if you ever reach 3rd level.

I haven't sat down and figured out whether your skills balance out right but you should have 40 skill points divided up before bonuses. Maximum skill ranks is 4 at 1st level. So assuming your computer use skill is 4 +2 int. +3 for the skill focus feat, the most it could be is 9 (not 12). Likewise the driving is 4 +2 for dexterity for a maximum of +6.

Your starting Sanity is 60 and your maximum sanity is 99.

Your BAB is +1.

You need to pick one save (Fortitude, Reflex or Willpower) to make your good save.

EDIT: As for the possibility of a character being too powerful - heh. ;)

What are the base saves for an Offensive character?

Computer use should cover it. You might want a skill focus feat to increase your ability in this area.
cool, I'll add it then. I think he would be a perfect tabloid reporter. Able to go where others can't go, find information people would like to keep hidden, and the like.

I almost have him done, he will be an British computer technician.
Here is what I have so far:

Short History
Avery was born and raised in London and has had a passion all his life for computers and high performance cars. In his late teens he worked as a mechanic for the McLaren Formula 1 racing team. He was in heaven, for he could work , and drive, the most powerful cars on the planet, and use some of the most powerful computers money can buy. This love of computers is what got him fired from the team, for he hacked the main computer and leaked the new car design over the internet. After getting fired from the team, he got a job as a computer technician for a large corporation. This was a totally mind-numbing job and he was driven to more useful job. He likes to dress in dark colors, mostly earth tone shirts and dark jeans. He is often known to wear a black trench coat. He talks with a strong British accent, and often confuses people by using British terms instead of American terms.

Let me know if this works, are there any class specific skills?

if you have any suggestions, questions, or criticism email me at sthomas@gmail.com

No problem I guess, I need to wrap up with the other two anyway but the 4th might be a problem.

Fair warning to all - I am taking a vacation from August 4th to 11th and will not have access to any computers or internet (sigh).

Well I guess I will really flesh out my character! Sorry about the delays!

From the top of the thread,

To recap:

There are two “Classes” in Call of Cthuhlu d20. They are "Defensive" and "Offensive"

Defensive 1st level has 2 good saves (choose from Fort, Ref, Will; good saves are +2, the other is +0), +0 BAB, and +2 AC.
Offensive 1st level has 1 good save, +1 BAB, and 1 free weapon proficiency feat.

Each character picks a profession which allows for eight associated skills +3 skills of a characters choice.

If you pick a profession, I'll give you a list of skills associated with that profession. Typical Professions include Antiquarian, Archaelogist, Artist/Musician, Blue collar Worker, Criminal, Priest, Soldier, Technician, Businessman, Writer/Reporter.

If you want the writer/reporter profession – the associated class skills are:
craft (photography)
craft (writing)
Diplomacy
Gather Information
Innuendo
Knowledge (any one)
Knowledge (any one)
Research
Sense Motive
+3 of the players choice.

Characters start with 32 skill points (+int. bonus x4)

Abilities are either 4d6, drop the lowest, arrange as desired; or 28 point buy.

Each character will have $12,000 starting cash to buy this or that. (laptops, cameras and the like would be appropriate). Assume modern prices. This may take a little googling or “shopping” on Amazon or the like.

Players at this point are:
Shenzoe,
Bill Lumberg
And Aramil Xiloscient

In character you know that you have been hired by Hugh Rogers, owner, publisher and editor in chief of the Sunlight Scoop, a bi-weekly tabloid of a sensationalist nature. It regularly prints stories about alien abductions, elvis clones, and giraffe boy. You have either been hired as a writer or a photographer and your character should be of such a sort as would be willing to take such a job, unpublished writer, retired soldier, etc.

The game will be set in the modern era (today more or less - though not exactly in our real world of course).

I might add to this that you have a...

Alright!!! I'll get right on it!

Also, is this d20 modern stat rules? Please fill me in!!!

If you want me back can I play the same character concept I had thought of at first?

I'm 16 and I find the gratuitous use of 'mature' themes irritating. Its not interesting or cool, its just annoying and distasteful. Mostly I think that such themes, used in moderation, can greatly add to a story. A little gore or sex or disturbing themes can be necassary for a story but used in overabundance, they take whatever real 'punch' the story would have had. Often I find they're used to cover a lack of an actual story with depth. Horror is far more effective if the man who's killed horribly by the monster is killed off stage with enough hints as to what's going on for the audience to know than if its done out in the open. What each individual's mind can come up with for what's happening to the red shirt is worse than anything a writer or director can come up with because it taps into your own fears. Too much blood, gore, sex ect usually means that its a low quality product trying to cover its shortcomings with shock value.

You are quoting my opinion on this matter perfectly. I personally love the whole Play-with-your-mind type of horror.

Yikes, -8 is pretty steep! Thanks for the info V
Dan takes up the gun first, a bit overconfidently and lets the wind shake his aim slightly resulting in 5 misses. Three of them wide and 2 barely missing the targets head.

very, very, very proud of it! I even named it!
Named it what?

Well I own two guitars, the above mentioned 12-string and a classical. The 12-string is named Anastriana (players handbook under elven names) and the classical is named Sonora (from the movie Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken).

Our group has one of those players. He actually DMed the long dead The Long Trek campaign and he is one of the worst power gamers I have ever known. He actually wanted us to advance our characters (which were already at 21'st level or something) to 54th level!!!!! He also has a very loose sense of the rules.

This is the evil twin to the "woah I'm a geek" thread. Here you can sound off on your observations of other people and their geekiness.

Here's mine:
I was browsing at our library, and I came around one shelf and saw someone with their back to me opening up their laptop. I innocently looked over his shoulder and watched him type his password. I realized with a jolt, as he rapidly hit the 1 and 0 keys, that his password was in BINARY code!!!!! It was something like a 15 character password! Wow.

I'm seriously consitering buying this 3D program. Does anyone out there know of any jobs that I could get as a intermediate computer modeler/beginning animator? If anyone wants to see my works so far check out this link
