Hey everyone! I wanted to take the opportunity to show off my wife's DeviantArt gallery. She does a lot of fantasy work, but the bulk of her recent stuff is focused on her World of Warcraft characters. Still, she does great work and I'm very proud of her. I wanted to spread the love and I invite others to promote their art on this thread as well!

Cool. The half drow 'Rye' is ace!

Nice! I like what I see. ~thinking of making a folder titled "Just Art" on my favorites~ Oh, and I saved her website for further perusal!

BTW, you wife is very pretty! You are a lucky man!

Why thank you! I'd be interested in seeing the galleries of others as well. Please, if you've got 'em... share 'em!

~grins~ Well, I am not an artist, so I do not have any galleries. But I would be happy to look at other peoples art.

My DeviantArt gallery.

For my older abstract work, here is a link to My Deviantart page.

My computer will not let me get a Deviantart, even after I changed the settings. Advice?

My website, which I should update sometime this week with new drawings and a painting.

My stupid blog which you shouldn't read, but has a blurry photo of my Wheel of Time Calendar Competition piece, which is due Wednesday and almost ready for photographing.

Not a lot of fantasy stuff yet, but I'm working on a few things in the hopes of getting into the game.

James, which web host do you use if you don't mind me asking? Are you happy with them? I've been trying to get a site up for ages and my mates who are into IT keep saying "yeah, I'll send you the names of some good web hosts in the US, they're cheaper than Australian ones" and of course none of them ever do. I'd like to research it myself but I'm totally new to the whole thing.

I use phpwebhosting.com, because it was recommended to me by a teacher that I trust. She also recommended mediatemple.com. Phpwebhosting is cheaper than mediatemple, but I think they give you a little less space (which shouldn't be an issue, really, unless you want to put a tremendous amount of material up there). Mediatemple is also, I think, a little higher end. But for my purposes (having a professional email address- james@jamesmkeegan.com, hosting a simple website without a lot of bells and whistles) phpwebhosting is affordable and the host has been pretty good about answering any questions and providing instructions on uploading material.

My mediocre profile.

Cheers mate.

I have my Wheel of Time calendar competition piece up on my website now, along with a few inkwash drawings I've done for fun, if anyone wants to check them out. JamesMKeegan.com

Fate! Your wife's art is awesome! I enjoyed browsing the gallery very much! She really has a cool style for face-pics especially! Kudos to her, and to you for marrying such an attractive and talented young woman!

Duuude...

I had NO idea you were a comic book artist. That's what I'm planning on going to college for. (Eventually. Once I get the cash.)

May I suggest Cyzra's Deviant art for all who like Drow...and other stuff too.
Also check out the W.O.G. webcomic by Mortellan, if you know the dieties of Greyhawk, its for you. its at

While I went to Art college and will say it's great for creating a solid work ethic and breaking bad habits one has built up over the years, there's no reason to put off attempts at comics until you graduate. A decent sense of storytelling, an awareness of text and some decent drawing skills can take you a hell of a long way.

Art is one of the few careers that doesn't require a degree in anything. One of my teachers was an illustrator for 20-30 years with nothing more than a high school diploma. It's all about developing a work ethic and then not letting it slip. Art school in general really is a zoo, from what I've found, and you may not get the practical education one wants/needs. There are teachers that just want to fill your head with their garbage and you have to work pretty hard and go out of your way to get the kind of technical skill and background you really want. I graduated a little while ago, and I still don't feel tremendously confident.

I'm not saying I didn't get anything out of it; I have gotten a lot out of it, but you should be careful about picking a program and teachers if you decide to go. It's not really like a lot of other schools, since graduating won't guarantee you any kind of job or even any level of expertise.

Hey, I've fired submission enquires in once every few months- not so much as a peep.

But hey, if you want me, I'd be delighted to help out!

Very nice! I'd like to see your work in Pathfinder.

I'd love to see your art in Pathfinder. I'm not a big fan of the artist who drew things like Ripnugget and most of the NPC portraits for the Sandpoint inhabitants. Your stuff is much better.

Thanks for the kind words, guys- I'd love to give Pathfinder a shot, Gods willing.
In the meantime, I just got the call that I'll be doing some work for Mongoose again and my Andorian Oneshot for Star Trek is out in a month or so.

I wanted to submit some art to Paizo, but I lost my crayons.

I've decided to make a new portfolio of D&D targeted stuff, so I started with a character portrait of my friend's Kenku rogue, Karak. I'm not as sharp with paint as I am with drawing media, so I'm trying to think of how to approach coloring it. Working up a dozen or so more thumbnail sketches to figure out the next portrait or scene.

Wow! That one just blew me away. Great work James!

Scarab Sages

Still looking for his crayons...

Here's a crapload of thumbnails I've been doing lately. Characters, equipment, scenes and the Moathouse of Temple of Elemental Evil fame. It's on a "support group" blog set up for recent SVA grads out there in the big bad world. I think only blog members can comment on the actual blog, but you can always yell at me here.

Hurblaggh!

Paizo Employee Director of Game Development

Those sketches get me all impatient to see where you go with this! Keep it up, my man!

~peruses the artwork~ Interesting. vewy intewesting.

Here is the stuff I do. 3D Stuff

I can't speak for Fatespinner, but this talk has been threadjacked in a really nice way- it's great to see how many talented people hang out on these boards!

And since I'm not one to overlook a chance for a bit of media whoring, I just want to let you all know my US comic debut- Star Trek Alien Spotlight: Andorians, is out this month from IDW, so fight the good fight and buy early and often.
My latest color can also be seen in Star Trek: TNG- The Space Between Graphic Novel, Scarface- Scarred for Life Graphic Novels, as well as Star Trek season Four, all again from IDW. Coming soon I get to color the great John Byrne's take on the Romulans and Steve Niles Borg for the Alien Spotlight series.

Here endeth the shameless plug- back to the thread (sorry Mike).

Another cool picture.

My gallery, though not your typical fantasy fare. All coment & critique welcome.

Link not working, for witch I'm sorry.

Here's another character drawing from my own campaign, an NPC cleric of Mak Thuum Ngatha named Orm the Toad. The next one will have more going on than a guy just standing there.

Dude, are you familar with John Blanche? Big hairy guy, does illustrations for Games Workshop? Your picture looks quite similar in style to his stuff. Which is a good thing.

No, I don't think so. I don't really check out a lot of Games Workshop stuff. I'll google him. I aspire to be a big hairy guy that does illustrations for game companies and perhaps some similarity can help.

This is a typical example of his sketch stuff. It's very sort of twisted and seems intricate and loose at the same time.

Here's my site: Deviant Art.

It's not art that is in any way safe to view at work.

If one is easily offended, please don't view my work.
