As far as the Adventure 2 armies go, though, what you're looking for to avoid defaulting to a d4 requires:

Diplomacy, Knowledge, Ranged, and Survival on different characters
Arcane, Divine, Knowledge, Perception, and Diplomacy on different characters
And Divine, Melee, Stealth, and Fortitude on different characters.

Starting with Hawkmoon's decent base of Kyra, Adowyn, Seelah, we see that the first army means we need another person with Ranged or Survival; the second requires an Arcane caster and someone with Perception; and the third means we're going to need another person with Melee or Fortitude.

Crowe actually looks like a great fit here - he has Arcane, Survival, and both Melee and Fortitude, so then you're almost free to fill in as you want. I'd probably take Harsk for Perception - it's better than Alain or Seoni's, plus he's better able to fight multiple times in a turn - and for the last one, I don't know, you have lots of great options. Shardra has the amazing-for-large-groups power to provide rerolls, so I'd probably end up going with her. Ekkie's tempting, though.


My wife and I have done Runelords and now S&S three times each (to use all the characters, in parties of four). Our highest check to date was near the end of the second Skulls & Shackles run - Oloch landed 115, with support from Damiel, Lirianne, and Merisiel.

Neat to see the agreement - thanks for the opinions, all. Andrew, the issue I have with that fix is for barriers like Large Chest - it could be undefeated, you'd banish it anyway, and then by that wording it would go to the bane pile. I'd probably change the last sentence to "...he is undefeated unless all 6 henchmen are in the bane pile or the box", unless that would break something I'm not seeing. The other alternative would be "when you defeat a bane or would banish a henchman", although that might have issues with summoned henchmen (e.g., the owlbeartross's Riptide Grindylow).


Had an interesting situation come up last night. My wife and I were playing Press Ganged when Oloch stumbled across the owlbeartross. One dead grindylow and one dead owlbeartross later, we searched the deck for the next monster to banish and found Maheem (one of the henchmen).

I realized that by the rules - unless I'm misunderstanding something - we lost the scenario right there. The owlbeartross tells you to banish the next non-villain monster; Press Ganged requires you to defeat the henchmen and put them in the bane pile before you can defeat the villain. We put Maheem in the bane pile anyway (didn't have much desire to repeat that scenario just because Mr. Owlbeartross decided to see how many licks it took to get to the center of a Maheem-pop), but I thought it was worth pointing this out. Did we understand the rules correctly? What would you have done?

My wife and I have been subscribers for all of the Skulls and Shackles PACG adventure path. We finally received Adventure Deck 6 today and happily opened it up - we've been waiting to continue in the adventure path until we had all the promos - only to find that NONE of the promos were there! We checked the box (and sifted through the packing peanuts a few times), we checked inside the adventure deck case (where we did find the make-good pack for Adventure Deck 4), but we did not find the promos anywhere. How do we go about getting them?


It seems like changing the text so that you're instructed to advance the blessings deck again BEFORE resolving the Sihedron special effect (and shuffling it back in) would work, wouldn't it? That way if there's nothing left but Medallions, you simply time out (as should be expected). It reduces the chances of hitting multiple medallions in the same turn, but otherwise doesn't change anything.


Just finished our third and (for now) final Runelords runthrough. No failures or deaths since Seoni perished in Black Fang's Dungeon - we found that this party (Seelah, Seoni, Lem, and Harsk) was definitely the weakest to start but strongest by the end of any we've run.

This seems highly related to "Can you play Rage during combat" - I think they stand or fall together. Playing Rage during combat also doesn't immediately affect the check, but of course them burying a card for 1d10 does. Hawkmoon's last post in the other thread indicated that he thought that would be acceptable, and both his reasoning and his track record of being right led me to agree with him.


Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you still use it in the "Play cards and use powers that affect the check" step to hand someone a dagger for them to discard if they'd already played a weapon?

This topic raises another question: When my group played this scenario (yesterday), and encountered the Scribbler with four characters at his location, we summoned a different monster for each character (that's how the effect naturally read to us). It sounds like the OP's group summoned one monster and had everyone encounter it. Which resolution is right, and why?
