Is no real big deal, data-wise, I put in that it was the evade power feat, so it works regardless, I just wanted to let you know because that's one of the few that reading it as the other can really change the gameplay experience.

It can be the difference between leaving a villain on top of a deck and going exploring elsewhere for nifty treasure and battle, and having to spend several turns digging through a deck because you know the villain is now at the bottom.

I've about got it all compiled and formatted; I'm working on reading the powers and inputting them, now.

After that, I get to re-check the card lists, then error check my data entry, and then after that, I can actually process it all and figure out some statistics.


Well, now I'm worried that my earlier characters are some of the ones with mistakes! I believe I've been playing correctly but transcription errors are always possible.

I've had to repeat two adventures due to failure, but no character deaths. Also, this group only got to access the Character Add-On Deck cards starting in AP3 due to a shipping delay.

I would have taken the power to recharge Blessing of Sarenrae, but I don't have any yet so it would have been wasted.


Here are my motley solo band after finally defeating the HMM pack (phew!). Toughest scenarios to date have been Foul Misgivings (took three attempts to complete) and Into the Mountains (two attempts). The latter was particularly (and somewhat unfairly) difficult because 5 out of the 6 locations needed Divine/Wisdom checks to close! (Who thought that was balanced?!) I only just managed to scrape through. A little worried how I will fare in later scenarios as closing locations seems to be a bugbear at times.

No deaths with this group. Lost Local Heroes(miserably) as well as Angel In the Tower and Them Ogres Ain't Right on time.

I am amazed by the cards people have obtained for Ezren. I've had a dickens of a time upgrading his offensive spells. In the very last scenario, Merisel defeated a Hand Chopper and pulled Lighting Bolt from the box. Other than that it's been pretty sparse.

I'm also impressed with people's blessings, although Amiri has done well in that regard.

I imagine you get better boons by (a) being in a larger party, (b) playing extra locations, and (c) keeping locations open after defeating the henchman. We rarely play this way.

As this is our second play through I have noticed two things that I feel are good things for the game. With different characters, the flow of the game has a very different feel. Interestingly, Harsk never had a lot of appeal for me (think I have a thing against Dwarves) and I was in two minds about including him in this team, but ‘wow’ is he good. The ability to add a 1d4 with modifier to any person’s combat check is just amazing, certainly in the early game. He has been a pleasant surprise and proving one my favourite characters.

On a side note – second playthrough and I have to agree with those who have been clamouring on these forums about the shocking poor quality of the card stock. I have been very careful with my cards but already I have noticed a few cards getting scuffed and showing signs of wear. I’m sure I haven’t played my set nearly as much as some other groups, and I have to say that I am disappointed that I am now going to have to sleeve my sets (just ordered sleeves and the divider insert from Broken Token). The cards are handled a lot in this game, not only shuffling but also moving cards in and out of the box etc. It is costing me a fair whack of money to sleeve my set (and swap out the plastic inlay for the modified insert). I’m doing it because I love this game and want to continue enjoying it, but I do feel the card stock is a serious issue. I guess, with backward compatibility, it is too late to address those issues, but it makes each AP purchase a serious money sink above and beyond just the base sets and add ons. Anyway, minor gripe over!

Several have died along the way; when they did, I restarted them from scratch and played them back up. I'm doing one AD at a time per character, so each will play through the full AD before moving on to the next. I've never intentionally failed out an encounter unless there was a significant chance of death by continuing (and even then, I didn't always fail out when I should have).

@Scorpio: when the blessings deck ran out did you repeat the scenario, or did you just houserule a bigger deck? The friend I'm playing with refuses to be beat by a mere timer. :-)

We repeated the scenarios but found ways to story the repeat. For example, we knew where Black Fang was hiding because we'd closed a couple of locations, driving him away. Unfortunately, we ran out of supplies so had to go back to Sandpoint. He apparently thought the pickings were still good enough to risk staying, despite the threat of a couple of annoying adventurers chasing him all over the countryside.

For "Them Ogres Ain't Right," we had managed to beat all of Mammy Graul's kin the first playthrough, but ran out of time finding her. We left to regroup (again, ran out of supplies), but when we came back, she was literally the first card we encountered, so she must have figured "I'm gonna stop ya'll 'fore ya'll hurt my young'uns 'gin!!"

Eratta on Here Comes the Flood. Going back to my notes, we actually lost on the first run-through because the Black Maaga ate more villagers than we saved, not because we timed out.


This run-through is using the Rise of the Runelords base set (no character add-on) + Cleric class deck + Sorcerer class deck.

No deaths, and no losses. This magic-heavy group hasn't had great luck with finding spells, especially divine spells, as you can see by the lingering presence of Detect Magic.

Originally it was just me (Harsk) and my wife (Kyra), then our six year old daughter (Merisiel) joined in by Adventure 2 Scenario 5. Tried to solo Merisiel so she can catch up with me and her mother through the previous adventures, but she died midway in Adventure 1. I didn't want to go through the whole lot of back scenarios again so I just let Merisiel keep all her feats and added the ones that she doesn't have yet and put in additional cards (Adventure 1 and below) as needed.

Comments: Started off with 3 players. When Merisiel died, a player switched characters from Ezren to Seoni, Seelah joined the party, and everyone restarted from Brigandoom!. 5 Class decks were also added into the box (not including Bard & Ranger deck). Also worth noting is that an extra location was added on every scenario as if there were 5 players.


Thanks for the riveting game, Mike. This is a two-man run with Valeros and Lem. Only two scenarios required multiple attempts: Trouble at Sandpoint was hideous--five attempts needed; The Fort in Peril required two attempts. No deaths. Here's where we stand at the half:

No deaths; and I don't remember needed to play anything over, but this is my solo game that I play when I don't want to disturb the state of the Skull and Shackles box, so I've been going slowly and don't remember much of the events prior to Deck 3.

The Returning Throwing Axe and one of the Staves of Minor Healing were acquired by going back to the box (either I banished a card to a location, or had a card feat, and avoided acquiring cards of that type during the scenario). Honorable mentions to to the Sage (really helpful for closing problematic locations) who made room for the Poog I acquired in the last scenario of deck 3, and Fire Sneeze, which was an emergency d12 + d4 combat check when I didn't have a weapon in hand. I angsted some on my Item composition after getting the Deck 3 loot; Headband (+ closing locations power feat) makes up for no Sage, Poog's fire power means I don't need the Fire Sneeze for trolls/Muck Graul, and the Augury let me drop my Spyglass and still scout a bit.

Now it's off to fight the Cult of the Dragon before shuffling in Deck 4. I know I'm expected back in Sandpoint, but I'm sure they're doing just fine and I can go off and sidequest without any problems. :P
