"Oh, we didn't see the start. We just saw the last five seconds or so. There were some angry voices, and the two were clearly deep in tense negotiations of some sort. I couldn't hear what either of them said, so I have no idea why the dark-haired man reached for a weapon. That's when the blond man struck him, and you arrived promptly thereafter." There's a part of Anock's mind that is rather proud of herself for the "thereafter". It makes her seem so smart. But what concerns her most right now is making sure that there is no "jump to conclusions" style judgement/punishment, but rather actual, reasonable justice based on a fair, thorough, impartial investigation. Like *civilized* people.

"Well, you're no help," Anock snipes at the security guard and flounces off in Vitellius's wake. She's in high dungeon now, and his antics grate on her nerves. The temptation to give him bunny ears pops into her mind, and the only thing that stops her is how goofy and undignified it would make *her* look to do such a thing.

"We've been sent to gather *information*, which, if everything goes as desired, won't interfere with the local commerce in any way."

I would've thought he'd shove a camera and mike into someone else's face as *they* did the work."
If no one else finishes loading the pallets, Anock will get really huffy and indignant, but eventually will break down and finish the job. She won't stop complaining about it and making sure everyone knows how disappointed she is in their laziness for the entirety of the mission.

This reminds me of a photo of one of my kids sitting on a barbie horse when they were preschool-aged. Amazingly, it didn't break, though it looked like the legs ought to have snapped.
The look on Anock's face as Vitellius suggests someone riding on the miniature pony unicorn clearly shows that she's wondering if the man is out of his vapid gourd. "Anyone who *doesn't* want to be a drama queen can walk where and how they choose, camera angles be darned. Vitellius, try going for a 'true reality' type vibe, without the curated camera angles. Those are so over-exposed they've gotten boring and predictable. You'll never stand out if you do what everyone else has been doing." She had been about to reprimand him even further, but caught herself in time as she realized that a true leader knows how to redirect energy toward less counterproductive pursuits. Anock goes stock-still for a moment when Poko asks for a hug. ...Germs... But Poko looks clean, and Anock did spend an inordinate amount of time in close proximity to her not that long ago. She takes a deep breath. Really, she's quite fastidious, even in unhygienic situations. Really... Gulping, she acquiesces. "*Brief* hug times, Poko, but yes."
After the hug, which no doubt went on longer than she would've liked, Anock turns to Vitellius. "If your shots are too perfect everyone will think it's scripted and fake. We'll do our best to make sure that isn't an issue," she informs him with only a dollop of smugness.

Just before heading out the door, Anock checks her inbox. As she scans VC Arvin's message, she swells with indignation. "*Really?!*" Anock exclaims. "I just got back from *weeks* of roughing it after crash landing on a distant planet that was trying to kill us *the whole time*, and I have a full week of cleansing spa appointments scheduled to *decontanimate me* from that awful hellhole! I don't have time to--AAARRGGGGH!" It's only after stomping and throwing a hissy fit in her entryway for a full eight seconds that she realizes how immature she's being. It takes another twenty minutes or so for her to calm down enough to reply professionally. Sighing, she cancels all her spa appointments.
Deep down, she knows that it's unlikely that she's still harboring any dangerous pathogens from that planet, but her germophobic tendency makes it hard to truly accept that. She packs way too much hand sanitizer and heads out to meet her new team. Hopefully one of them speaks Akitonian. If not, I'll pick up a Tetrad Certified Translator before we leave. As she walks, she pictures herself delegating aspects of the negotiation to her underlings team, basking in the glory of a job well done. It'll all be worth it. And I'll re-book those spa days afterwards!

Despite spending as much time as possible in the shower on the way back to civilization, she still feels contaminated and is monitoring herself closely for signs of infection. "I'm still flabbergasted that we weren't put in quarantine for at least four weeks upon our return. Who *knows* what pathogens we could be harboring?!" For her part, she quarantines herself for that duration. As a reward, she books some serious time in a health spa afterwards. Maybe after that she'll finally feel clean, inside and out.

Now that a random outside factor has been introduced, the cycle could start all over again as fast as before, as everything on the planet begins competing to become more and more lethal.

With glorious visions of arriving back at Starfinder HQ in an advanced alien starship, Anock does some putzing and pondering herself for a change.

"Yes, Wilson, you and Domehead can go forage. At least the flora and fauna here are edible. I am capable of creating an emergency beacon with my nanites. Once the Society sends a rescue ship, they'll probably look here first. It would make sense for us to make for a landmark that they'd notice from space, and this is the one that'll scream the loudest. I'll get that set up right away. "Now for the shelter. Nip, why don't you start looking for supplies while I find the best nearby place to build it?" Of course Anock delegates the dirty work, but soon she realizes that choosing a site is the work of a few minutes. She'll have to actually get her hands dirty (Aack! Germs!) to avoid looking like a lazy, self-entitled leech on the party's resources. Sigh. Well, here goes. Good thing I still have soap in my pack. It turns out that she's not much help. It's a good thing she can contribute the emergency beacon to their rescue efforts, or her poor ego would be absolutely crushed.
