Meanwhile, in Istanbul (Not Constantinople), shadow demon Sliirx tracks down recently immigrated Snake-Charmer Amir, who rode the scaly back of a charmed sea serpent across the Mediterranean Sea from Morocco to recently conquered Byzantium, the better to serve his master, Sultan Murad II...

The sunlight-hating, incorporeal shadow demon finds the Snake Charmer sitting on a silken mat in the court of the ruined Hagia Sophia, plying his trade to entertain the Muslim builders reconstructing the ancient Byzantine Church into a mosque...

Ah, so the Mighty Ones have beaten the Antichrist Nero, and seek his phylactery. What's more, they have the King Solomon's Heart Diamond hidden in a bag or rucksack... If I know my master, he isn't too disappointed that the lich is incapacitated for the moment... but he'd really like to get his hands on that DIAMOND! But who wouldn't?? It must surely be the largest diamond in ten thousand ages!

Among these Arrows of Dispatch are a number of cunning individuals who have had chance encounters with or previous reasons to pursue one or other of the Mighty Ones...

Amir the Snake Charmer had purchased magical treasures no longer needed by the Mighty Ones when they were in Marrakesh. He was a druid, a wild man of the desert, who had an affinity for serpents, especially venomous vipers...

To Johann Kaltgeboren:
وأنت ، يا سيد بير! أسطورة الخاص بك ينمو بعيدا واسعة ، وحكايات براعتكم العظيمة معروفة لي!

wa'ant , ya syd byr! 'usturat alkhasi bik yanmu beydaan wasieatan , wahikayat biraeatikum aleazimat maerufat ly!

Arabic:
And you there, Master Bear! Your legend grows far and wide, and the tales of your great prowess are known to me!

Continuing in Arabic: I will buy that exquisite samurai armor you are looking to sell, and use the money I would pay for it to enhance that hide armor you wear, if you wish...

"Ahhh...how much?" the Fox asks in English to the man showing interest in his blade.

It's a +4 weapon overall (+1, +1 for corrosive, +2 for holy), which is a base price of 32,000. Standard sale price, then, is 16,000. I'm guessing we can manage that despite the language barrier.

"Bah!" he scoffs at the Bear. "I'm sure there will be much more interest in your bear hide! You better go around as a snake, to be safe."

After some pantomime haggling, Master Fox and Amir the Snake Charmer agree on 16,000 golden shekels for Barakuda, and the deal is made.

The Ogon Fox's nose twitches in delight at the smell of exotic spices as he passes near a marketplace in Marrakesh. He searches for a weapons vendor carrying suitably fine merchandise that might offer a proper price for the beautiful Barakuda.

Amir the Snake Charmer has the means to pay for such a handsome blade...

آه! سيد فوكس ، لقد سمعت أساطير المهارات القتالية الخاصة بك والمعارك التي خاضتها مع هذا النصل الأسطوري! سأكون سعيدًا لشرائه منك بسعر عادل!

ah! syd fuks , laqad samiet 'asatir almaharat alqitaliat alkhasat bik walmaearik alty khadatha mae hdha alnisl alastwry! sa'akun seydana lishirayih mink bisier eadl!

Arabic:
Ah! Master Fox! I have heard the legends of your martial skill, and your bold battles fought with this fabled blade. I will be happy to purchase it for a fair price!

The exotic melody of a hornpipe played by a dusky young man sitting on a reed mat reaches the mortals' ears. From a basket rises a great emperor cobra, swaying hypnotically to the music...

Bernardo Machiavelli wrote:
Gecko, riding (combat trained) please

They have it for sale in the Kasbah at the listed price.

Turkish: Camel or horse too banal for a gentleman of your taste, aye? Hehehe! I do have war geckos from the Underworld, trained by the dark elves...

Machiavelli and the Beast Master haggle over a combat trained gecko, and Machiavelli gets the snake charmer down to the standard fair market price of 400 golden shekels (or ducats or florins, et al).

Back at the boat

"I do not wish the death of the innocent children either, but sometimes politics is a bloody business, In my kingdom right now too many Heirs and warlords vie for power. They kill each other, and the merciful unfortunately have found that the heirs can rear their ugly head. Now babies or the very young can be taken elsewhere and molded but those who are older will have to die unless you wish to have an enemy rear its ugly head years later."

'Wow, I did not expect her to justify the killing of innocent children, I'm glad I didn't infer that 'woman' shouldn't be killed as well. Since I know full well they are as dangerous as men. But Children, I would rather take the chance of being killed by them later, than have innocent blood on my hands.' Looking sadly at Mwikali, he responds, softly. "Yes, that's what tyrants and evil men tell themselves, but they don't sleep better at night do they. I have enough nightmares, I'll have no part in killing innocents, and I will stop anyone trying to do it if I can. Good night."

in the morning, he will follow Giovanna, this is assuming there was a quiet evening :-)

In the morning, Wulfgar tries on the exquisite breastplate. Leaving his pack on the boat, he arms himself, including the scimitar he took from the dead slaver, and gathering his old armor follows Giovanna to an armorer. Dropping the old armor on the table, he waits until the Lady has made her request, translating in Arabic if he needs to.

When the merchant is ready be begins to bargain, in Arabic "I am going to sell this Persian amror and I need to purchase armor to protect my arms and legs that will work under this, lovely breastplate, something made from scales or fine chain, it doesn't need to be overly fancy or light, but I need it to do it's job." He gestures at several of the gladiator sleeves that the merchant has displayed.

Purchasing scale arm...

Ah, yes, my big friend! I have such a cloak that would look quite fitting for a fellow of your considerable stature...

Pulling from his bag of holding a long cloak of vermilion lined with the shaggy fell of a winter wolf around the shoulders, and a golden ravens’ claw clasping a moonstone.

In Arabic: HAHAHA!! Well done, Balthazar! You will dine well tonight, and that rogue Faruq will have to train a new pilfer-monkey! Haha!
