![]() I'd like to apply using a character I made as a replacement recruit for another Ironfang Invasion campaign. Amice is a Kayal/Fetchling Shadow Mystery Oracle refugee from Nidal presently, but if that's not okay I could switch to Human or Halfling. She'll need to be leveled down, currently at 5th) as well. I came into the other game at the beginning of book 2. But, within a couple of of months the game folded so nothing really happened during my time in it. EDIT: I'll also need to alter her backstory a bit since it assumes a later meeting with the party. I think it'll change to Amice being a beekeeper who lives a ways outside of town and only comes in to sell honey occasionally. ![]()
Female Kayal Oracle 5
![]() Amice cocks to head to the side, as if she's received a revelation, when the elf reveals why he is so strangely stuck in a tree he climbed. When she hears Braden ask for the man's faith in falling slowly and gently, she looks at him and cocks an eyebrow instead. I would not believe such a thing... ![]()

![]() Amice waits until the others are finished talking to the giant, then she approaches him. She lets the swaths of shadow wrapped around her dissipate, then she tries to get his attention. "Uh, excuse me. I want to tell you, all the things they said are true. I know it. I've lived by myself here in the forest for a couple of years. I've had no troubles since I'm good at keeping quiet and out of sight. But that changed now." "The Ironfang hobgoblins aren't like the forest's predators, looking for a meal, or the humans who travel it. They are scouring the forest, killing everything they find. I couldn't find peace and safety any longer. I was so desperate I gave myself up to these people, hoping for the best. They have been kind, and I have found protection with them." "Hiding away and hoping to be left alone won't work anymore. The hobgoblins are many, and they will find everyone eventually. We can only look to each other for protection now." ![]()
Female Kayal Oracle 5
![]() Amice fights the urge to flee, her reflexive reaction to such a situation after a couple of years living alone in the forest. Instead she grabs control of the closer owlbear's shadow, attempting to use it to hold the creature in place. Casting Shadow Trap (DC 18 Will save) on the nearer owlbear. ![]()

![]() Amice eats everything given to her and sleeps hard. Despite what some of the people in the group seem to think, she isn't half-starved or underweight, they're just not familiar with Kayal bodies. Lately the real shortage she'd suffered from was sleep. With so much turmoil in the forest now, and her need to keep moving around more, she hardly ever had the luxury of sleeping through a whole night. Nobody to keep watch meant every sound or change needed her attention. When Govrina, the tailed woman, starts talking about scouting the area around their current location, Amice pipes up. "I know this cave well. I've stayed in it on and off for a long time now. I didn't come here looking for you. This was the next of my camps on my circuit but you were already here. It had to decide what to do, and that took a while." Amice agrees to help scout the surrounding area. "I can help, yes." ![]()
Female Kayal Oracle 5
![]() Amice is starting to get confused about how exactly things might work in the camp. She certainly can't figure out what the masked man is on about. At least he knows the term Kayal, which is nice. She figures it's okay to drop her arms to her side at this point. "Some stew sounds really good." Thinking it might be helpful in some way she adds "I found you because the cave is one of the places I stay during my round, usually a couple of weeks before I move on. I came here for the shelter, and found you occupying it instead." ![]()

![]() Amice isn't sure who matters more in giving orders so she's not sure what to do. She glances at the tailed woman to see how she reacts, but does mostly as the halfling asks since his wolf is closer. Amice brings her arms down to waist level, but keeps the her hands extended away from her body. ![]()

![]() Amice shrinks or flinches slightly at the threat of the floating rock, but remains standing in the same place. Both Govrina and Harg can see that while the young woman is completely human in form, she is frightfully thin. Her skin is pale as milk and her hair black. Her eyes are slightly luminescent and yellow. But, despite the oddity of her appearance, her clothes are very mundane. She wears trousers and soft boots, a plain shirt along with a short, thin fur coat. The coat is clearly not professionally made, and the rest of her clothing shows obvious wear and extensive mending. As she answers Govrina, there is a slight tremble in her voice, probably fear. "I'm alone. I live here in the forest alone. But I can't keep doing as I have before. The forest is too crowded with violence now for me to continue as before. I've watched you and the hobgoblins both. They hunt everything and come with manacles and cages. You don't have those things and only hunt hobgoblins. So I have come to you asking for mercy and protection." Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 ![]()
Female Kayal Oracle 5
![]() Amice spends many days and nights watching the camp. She had spent quite a few before as well before she had made up her mind. Now it was a matter of deciding on the best time and circumstances to make herself known, and screwing up the courage to do so. She had decided it would be best at night, when not so many people were milling about. Also it would be better when the two regulars are both present. One is always there, very large and with some bestial features; she thinks he might be a half-orc given what she's heard in the past of them. The other is a tailed woman, she doesn't know what she is. They are strange, but it is better if there are fewer people to react immediately. Then the night comes when she is as ready as she knows she'll ever be. She wraps herself in darkness within the night's darkness and stays within the deepest shadows as she approaches them. Amice moves silently until she is maybe 40 feet away from the pair and takes a last deep breath to steel herself for what's to come. She abandons the shadows as she raises her arms high over her head and takes a couple more steps forward. "I have come to surrender to you and throw myself on your mercy."
