"I think perhaps the latter, Chavakala. She seems a salty seacat to me. Hopefully it means we'll be able to put to sea soon." he says with a wink.

Enjoying a cup of tepid beer, Amaric nearly drops it as he sees his new captain perform. Watching Quara leap and gesticulate, gyrate even, Amaric had never seen anyone move quite like that. Especially someone furred like a striped tiger. Singular, disturbing even. Yet somehow, each tumble around a table, each slide across the floor, seemed to be telling a story. Astounding. Amaric looks around to see if any of the other shore workers are impressed by the display.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Have a great time LOC, Ireland's awesome.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Ha, that sounds like our captain's MO, :)

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

"Ah, it sounds like you all just escaped with your lives. I too seem plagued with bad luck. I'm hoping this next voyage will signal a change in fortunes. Glad to have met you Atajay, Chavakala."

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Amaric agrees with the captain that a naga would make for a powerful ally. But, it's plain he is not keen on returning to the jungle to track one down. Rather, he spends his time trying to help where he can with provisioning the ship, eager to get back to sea. In between, he practices his swordplay and heads up to the bluffs to look out at the ocean horizon, longing for open water.

He also spends time trying to get to know the folks here at this station, including the crew of the Rabbit Prince. "So A'vandira, those are interesting tattoos. Varisian, are they? And Atajay, you look like you have some stories to tell. What was your last voyage? I've met a few ship's mages, officers in the Andoran navy, but I confess I don't know much about magic. And Chavakala, where have you sailed from?"

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Bluff bonus is +8. I've not sailed with the crew, but I could make up some good stories about The Rabbit Prince's brave captain and crew, in future.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Amaric emerges from the river, dripping wet and his fine clothes a mess. He feels somewhat cheated of a good fight, but on one level he feels relieved the creature is gone. During his time wandering lost in the jungles, he'd had his fill of the monsters there. The sooner he set sail and go away from this place, the better.

Momentarily distracted by the sight of A'vandira, Amaric looks down in concern at the others trying to draw out the poison from Pete's bite.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Sure if the option's there then will use previous rolls for Amaric's current actions. Then his latest rolls for the next round, contingent on the situation changing in between his turns.

Quara with that swim roll I think you must be swimming even better than the dolphin!

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Coming within range, Amaric thrusts with his rapier, trying to pierce the snake woman's hide.

Same action as last post. LOC, do you want me to reroll or would you prefer to take the results of my last post? Actually, I'm happy either way but I'll roll again below so as not to hold up the game. Make normal melee attack, but if she tries to attack me in return then Amaric will use his Opposing Riposte deed ability to try to counterattack.

Melee rapier attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

opportune riposte: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

counterattack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

That's a not very stunning series of rolls, that.

Panache points used: 1/4 points

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

This is a strange creature! Glad that Pete has been helped, Amaric turns his attentions to the snake lady figures. He swims down and towards them, trying to stab with his rapier.

Try to get within range of the snake lady and attack if possible. If she then tries to attack Amaric, he will use a panache point to use his Opportune Parry and Riposte deed. perhaps too much to repeat verbatim, but here is the link to the class ability description: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/swashbuckler

Swim check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

rapier attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
confirm possible crit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

opportune riposte: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 Add -2 penalty for each category the snake lady is larger than Medium size.

counterattack (if possible): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Panache points used: 1/4 points

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Well, that's the thing, isn't it? Still, where there's derring-do to be done, it wouldn't do to be done in because he was wearing the wrong duds. He'll just have to hope that someone has a handy laundromatic cantrip for when this is all over.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Amaric peers into the water, trying to work out what's going on. All he can see are a lot of blurry shapes, but from the way everyone's jumping into the water he may as well too. He tosses one end of the rope to those still on shore. "Hold on to this. Be ready to pull." He then draws his rapier and springs into the murky water, the other end or the rope in his left fist.

This could potentially be a couple actions. Immediate action, draw sword, standard action give the end of the rope to closest bystanders, move action jump in and swim towards the action.

Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Amaric casts about for a length of rope to throw out to Pete should he surface. It was difficult to see precisely what was going on in the water. Ready action to attempt to lasso man if he reappears.

Just realized that when I was putting the character together I neglected Swim. I know what Amaric will be spending his skill points on when he next levels up.

@Amaric Such expensive outfits are usually made from materials like silk and cashmere. Is this what you'll be wearing?

Of a sort. In my head I was thinking of something more extravagant than the typical travelling outfit but not quite as opulent as court attire. Or to put it visually, something like this but with more flair. After all, I figure if he's going to be running around using panache, he'll have to look the part. So yeah, I was thinking workaday clothes but with finer fabrics and embellishments, may include silks and velvet and the like, though to be honest I'm not great at describing clothing.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

With the prospect of hunting Chelaxians and slavers, Amaric seems to brighten, talking more and even joining in with the drinking and carousing. In fact, given a couple days to wash up, shave, and purchase some new clothes, Amaric looks like a new man. At last he appears to match the well-made rapier slung at his hip, with a fine linen shirt, dark trousers and his leather boots.

With the sudden commotion by the boathouse, Amaric instantly draws his sword and moves closer to scan the water. He tries to peer into the depths, either looking for the hapless man or the thing that dragged him in. Draw weapon and move to 5 feet from the water's edge, looking for man or beast.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Purchased courtier's outfit 30gp - going for the dashing Musketeer look. I'm sure Hake will have all kinds of fancy clothes like that just waiting to be worn, right?

I think it'd be fine to go inactive. I wasn't aware it could be transferred before I made this board.

Will do. I wasn't aware either, but let me know if you need any previous details.

I'm spending some of my gold before we set sail:

Because you always end up needing special metals when you least expect it. ;) Also, I need the Harrow deck for my upcoming Prestige Class.

We'll have to start calling you Quara of the three blades!

Speaking of which, just saw on the messageboards a note about inheriting a game from another GM. Litany would you want me to sign over the original game threads? That way you would have a say over if/when the game could be retired.

Did we ever calculate the gear we won last chapter for selling purposes? All I have written down that I collected was 345 gold and the Charisma circlet +2. I'm sure we got more than that, but don't recall if we divvy'd everything up.

I seem to remember you liquidated it all when you reached port, but I'll check the original threads to be sure and if not still have the treasure lists so can calculate everyone's shares for you.

Actually as I think of it Litany was acting as party treasurer.

Amaric had likewise been hanging back, brooding over a mug of the proffered ale. The man had bedraggled, shoulder-length hair and tattered clothes, his lank hair not quite covering his pointed ears. The only items of finery he seems to have on him is a richly appointed rapier and a fine pair of boots. His blade is a distinctive design that is such a contrast to its owner that surely it could not belong to him. The man looks like he had just stumbled from the jungle.

As in fact, he had. Just that day, he had been shocked and relieved as he followed the river through the jungle to step into a clearing and fine Hake's hideaway here on the coast. People asked where he had come from and how he had survived the denizens of the Slithering Coast, but he didn't like to dwell on his recent experiences.

The man brooded until he heard Quara mention hunting the Chelish. He looked up, suddenly focused on the tiefling. He stands up, chair scraping back, and he steps forward. As he does so he draws his sword. "Did you say you're hunting Chels? Count me in." He drives his blade deep into the wooden floor inches from Quara's feet, its hilt quivering.

"The name's Amaric," he growls, with an Andoran accent.

Chavakala looks like an intriguing character, super. Just got the Monster Summoning Players a Companion and thought the herald caller archetype looked like fun. Which deity are you thinking of choosing? Litany was playing a warpriest of Calistria previously, and there is a NPC cleric of Besmara among the crew. Or there was, there's been a real change up of the roster, anything could happen.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Yeah I am cool with the additions, the Rabbit Prince is going to be a tricked out ship.

Amaric's fine with the anti-slavery stance. Given his story, vengeance and liberation will be his mainstays.

I'm loving it! That will be great.

I agree with all the ship modifications. I'd also put in for improved armaments, a couple more ballistae at least and enough to make a broadside if we can swing it.

Welcome aboard Nachni! Quara you are getting a whole new crew to go with a whole new ship.

@ Crazy

for HP you could take 10 hp for 1st level, then use the first 3 rolls for 2nd-4th...and save the 10 roll for 5th level once you reach it, if you'd like

Sure, happy to go with that. I've also take 2 hit points for favoured class. Equipment purchased, and I'll try to get up character background just now.

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Ditto

Male Half-Elf Swashbuckler 4

Hedgehog here with a swashbuckler, nearly ready apart from rolling hit points, finalising equipment, and finishing back story. Are you happy to create him at 4th level, or would you prefer him to start at a lower level? Usual starting gold?

Litany, any other information you're needing from the first sourcebook?
