Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara sees the approaching ship, sees that they are Rahadoumi, and curses. "Bastard slavers!"

She calls on Besmara to bless their undertaking.

Round 1

Casts bless on all here assembled. +1 on attack rolls for 2 minutes. Everyone should get +1.

Round 2

Light crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Round 3

Light crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Round 4
As the other ship closes, Amara thinks that she had better protect herself so she can heal anyone who needs it. She casts copycat and makes a double of herself. "Twice the Amaras, twice the fun, you Rahadoumi scum!"

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Sorry, busy weekend. I'm on it!

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara is updated. May I presume her parrot familiar found her way back?

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Note to Mateo and Cadj: I have recorded our loot thus far. I hope the potions are healing potions. Perhaps we should each take one. I can't use the masterwork handaxe, so feel free. I'm a lover, not a fighter.

Copied from my plunder.txt file:

"
Leather armor
3 morningstars
12sp
buckler
masterwork handaxe
vial of holy water
tanglefoot bag
2 tindertwigs
21 gp

Amara has
Masterwork dagger,
three bottles of rum
trio of harpoons, a spear and a grappling hook hanging on the wall.

Loot from the reefclaw:

"The Captain sees fit to award your little gang with two vials of a golden / cloudy liquid, 100 gold sails each and your remaining gear from the initial meeting, bar coin (and of course any incendiaries beyond the contained non-ship-destroying bombs of Bastardos gear). When you reconvene below deck as night time sets over the ship, you manage to crack open the chest. Inside you find a mundane collection of treasure, old coins minted in days gone by, jewels of mixed quality, a fine silver tiara and a jade comb depicting a shark rising from the deep, its eyes burning rubies. All told you reckon the chests contents to be worth around 1,000gp, if sold to the right buyers."

From Koop's kitchen, two more vials of golden liquid, and an apparently magical grappling hook.
"

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara wakes up out of the dream. Besmara? Oh, my queen. What had she said? "Look to those who support you."

I think that's all I've wanted, ever since I escaped that bastard who owned me. A crew of friends. I think I could watch the world burn if I had friends to help me light the fire!

"G'morning, Cadj!" She smiles at the dour wizard. "How are you feeling today, Mateo? Ready to take on the world?" "Hey, Vex. I think I'm finally figuring out how to cook. I'm going to try to show Kroop something. That old pirate actually knows what he's doing."

Amara sees the others, and gives them a good looking over. Besmara said look for support, and I suppose the more the merrier. She strides boldly forward, hand extended. "My name's Amara. Nice to meet you!" Noticing Aviz's wings, she blurts: "Wow, can you fly? That's amazing!" Then she blushes a bit "I'm sorry--was that terribly rude?"

for her action she's going to try to impress Kroop with her newfound cooking abilities. After working in the galley so long, she acquired a point in profession: chef.

"Hey Kroop, it looks like there's going to be a fight. Should we cook something nice for the victory party?

Profession chef: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Awesome. I'll get it done today. I think I need to be added to the campaign playe list?

Woooooo! Campaign is running again! Avast! Thanks, CT.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Sorry I'm late. It's no big deal if it's too many people.

Let me know if I'm wanted.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Wait. What? We're still alive?

Wooooo!

I'm up for anything. Let me know.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

I'm ok waiting. I'll keep checking in.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

She'll probably regret this:

Amara favors Crimson with a grin. "You might have bitten off more than you can chew, Crimson." Then she grabs the shark by the tail and flounces off to Kroop back in the galley. "I got a shark. Let's cook this sucker!

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Congrats, Vex!

Life is good.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Spoiler:
Amara smiles her best smile. "Ok, Crimson, you're on. But no shark, no drink.." She flips her hair and says, "A girl's got to have her standards."

It might be time for Amara to use her courtesan skills.

While Crimson does the work, Amara pays close attention. I really need to learn how to do this sort of stuff. "Oh, you tie it that way. I see!"

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Spoiler:

Amara squirrels away the two potions and the grappling hook when she has a chance.

"Um, catch a shark. Sure!." Amara sighs, thinking that she should have found someone to teach her this stuff earlier. Priestess of Besmara, and you can't even fish! Disgraceful, she thought to herself. Well, she didn't pick Besmara, Besmara picked her.

Up on the deck, she's going to give it her best try, with the skills she has available. Is there anyone up on deck that could help her? If so, and it's hopefully male (or interested in her) so she can be charming:

(asking for a blessing first, as always.)

diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 1 + 1 = 23

Amara fumbles with the fishing gear, tossing her hair and trying to look a little pathetic. "All this time, and I never learned to fish. Would any of you have a moment to give me a hand?

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Cook's Mate:

"The Hurricane King? Sounds amazing. What was he like?" Amara genuinely likes Kroop. She sits down to chat, but looks for an opportunity to avoid the rum. She nurses her drink, and when Kroop is done with his portion, she is quick to offer hers to him. If he asks about her rum, she says she already finished her first, and this is her second.

Praying for Besmara's blessing:

bluff: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 = 23

"Hey, if you get a chance, I'd sure like to actually learn how to cook. At the tavern, I never really did much of that." Smiling at Kroop, she adds, "My job was to serve drinks, look pretty, and get tips."

diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

Perception checks:
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
perception2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

I'm still in. I would hate to have to find a new game. I appreciate all the work you guys do to run the campaigns.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara is twiddling her thumbs, hoping we continue.

Seriously, I think we have a good mix and the story will be good. I can handle the delays, but would be sad if it ended.

--dramatic music--

Will Mateo find love and adventure?
Will Amara get eaten?
Will Cadj devote his life to pure evil?
Will Vex's secret ever come out?
Will Bastardos blow us all up?

I'd like to find out.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara scrambles and flops her way back into the boat, and then tries to figure out what's going on. A dolphin? Did I see a dolphin?

She tries to get her head back in the game and draws one of her daggers.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Faster would be better, but slower and moving is ok. This is my second campaign here, and the first one was fun until it stopped, with unresolved stories. I want to see what happens.

If Amara meets a watery demise, as seems likely, I hope I get to reincarnate.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

I'm in.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Fortitude save

Fortitude: 1d20 ⇒ 13

"Damn lobsters! I am totally going to eat your cousins if I ever get out of this."

Not sure what to do here, so I'll give alternatives. If I'm still grappled, I'll copycat myself and hope the thing will try to grab the copycat. If I'm free, I'm splashing back toward the boat.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara feels the boat move sharply and actually says "Eeek!" She clutches frantically at the gunwales.

Acrobatics: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (17) - 4 = 13

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2
Cadj Nassen wrote:

Didn't know you were able to talk to lobsters, Amara. We learn everyday...from our mistakes, obviously.

Command is both Langage dependent and Mind affecting.

"Not much else I can do, Cadj!"

I thought Reefclaws could understand language per the bestiary. No way for Amara to know that--she's just trying what she can try.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara attempts to make the lobster grabbing Mateo flee (should be attacks of opportunity as it goes).

Cleric spell Command, DC 15.

Amara clutches her holy symbol and shouts "FLEE" at the first critter.

"Funny, lobster's usually my favorite food. Not hungry now."

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

"I feel a bit useless here. First thing I do if I ever get back to Ilizmagorti is find someone to teach me how to swim."

Perception: 1d20 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 6 = 18

"I think I see one! Over there!"

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

"Let me see what I can see. . .

Amara looks over the side and peers into the depths, saying a prayer as usual.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 6 = 13

"You'd think with the water this clear they'd be easy to find. Little bastards--no offense Bastardus--must be hiding."

Vex Silvertongue wrote:
Life happens. Glad its just that and not something bad =^^=

I'm trying to think up an epic backstory for CT. Maybe he's a spy, and occasionally he gets activated from deep cover.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

I'm ready to go. Our great boat adventure!

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara breathes a sigh of relief. No swimming!

She winks at Vex, acknowledging a fellow practitioner of the fine art of persuasion.

After the group all clamber into the boat, she does her best to help.

"Hey Mateo or Cadj, can I help? I'm not sure what I can do, but I'll do my best."

She prays for guidance (+1 skill check), and then helps Mateo first.

Strength: 1d20 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 + 1 = 11

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara would like to shop for something stabby (a spear, perhaps) and also a length of rope.

"Never got much chance to swim as a kid, because, well, slave, and then I was too embarrassed to get someone to teach me. Could you drag me along, Mateo, if I got a rope?"

If that doesn't look like it will work, Amara is going to try to figure out a way to role-play an excuse not to go.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Sorry, busy weekend. I'll get a response in sometime tonight.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Just need to count the money.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

"He doesn't have to ask. Poor thing."

She's trying to charm Owlbear. I hope Mateo's got the idea. We need allies, and we all fight with the weapons we have.

to heal Owlbear and Mateo

Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 2

If Crimson is still around: "I'm sorry we got interrupted in all the excitement. Raincheck?"

To Bastardos, her eyes flinty and cheeks flushed: "Bastardos, what is your problem? Seriously! It's like you want people to hate you! Thanks, Vex."

She thinks about launching into a tirade about slavery against Cadj, but wisdom gets the better of anger. The rum almost made her do something stupid. At least he seems honorable.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara's eyes widen as she accepts the loot from Mateo. "Leader or not, this is seed money. Someday we'll have freedom. Someday we'll have a ship. Someday we'll pay the bastards back. . . ." She tucks the money deep in her clothing.

She's about to cast Cure Light Wounds on Mateo, but then, seeing Owlbear writhing in pain, she stops. "Mateo, could you come over here? That poor thing was forced to fight you. Shouldn't have to be a slave."

Amara extends a hand to Owlbear. "Are you hurt, big guy? Let me give you a little help." She says in his ear "No-one should be a slave. No one!

Praying for guidance.

She channels energy to heal both men.

Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 1 + 1 = 18

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

I'm on vacation this week. I might be a tiny bit slow.

Cadj wanted us to bot him if necessary.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara, alarmed at the turn in the fight, says to Crimson, "One moment!" and tries to see if she can maneuver behind Mateo, ready with a quick heal if he comes close enough.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara sways as the fire of the rum settles into her bones. "What was I doing? Allies. Yeah, that's it!"

After imparting the Goddess' blessing to Mateo, she looks around and sees Crimson. She unleashes as much charm as she can, adding a prayer of guidance to her own efforts. Help me, my Queen! I don't know why you chose me, but I'll need help. Friends, comrades, a crew!

"Hey! Crimson, is it?" She extends her hand. "Name's Amara. I'm new to the ship. You're new, too?" She giggles. "I think I just made a rhyme. That Vex girl would know. I'm not much for poetry."

Where was I? Oh yeah, diplomacy, make him think I'm like him, with a touch of seduction. He likes cruelty

"Do you know how I got to Ilizmagorti? I was a slave. I don't even remember not being a slave. This bastard Rahadoumi kept me like a dog. He liked little girls, bruised and bloody. Well, the damn fool came too close to the Shackles and we were boarded. Do you know what they did to him? The pirate hung him from the yardarm and invited the crew to take souvenirs, starting with his toes. She handed me a knife and let me take the first cut." She whispers to Crimson "I remember the look on his face as I started sawing off his painted big toe. It was hilarious!" She unleashes a brilliant smile. "I can think of some other people need carving, can't you?

The story might not be entirely true. The dice role includes the charming bonus and the guidance bonus.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 1 + 1 = 15

Do I get any Cha bonuses from the rum?

"Oh, Mateo, don't hurt Owlbear! He looks cute.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Are we still going?

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

I'm enjoying the misadventures of Bastardos quite a bit.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara attempts to create water (cleric 0 level spell) in her mug before it gets filled, hoping that there will be less rum, or that it will have less effect. If it spills over when filled, she'll bluff to whomever is dishing out the rum:

"Don't have your sealegs yet? Careful with my rum!"

Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

If not, then fortitude:

Fortitude: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Then, before she settles down to watch the duel with Owlbear, she touches Mateo on the shoulder and whispers: "Besmara's blessing!", casting guidance on him by touch. Her hand lingers a bit.

"The creature gets a +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check"

We need more allies. Who was that Crimson Cogburn person?

Knowledge check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Once I know about Crimson, I'll see how to play him.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara sees the storm, the chaos, and her eyes gleam a bit. It's so beautiful!

Strength: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Constitution: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

"Oh, silly me. I thought it was a flower." Amara giggles. "Draining life through lips sounds much more fun."

She touches Conchobhar lightly on the hand. "The problem, Conchobhar, is that Plugg and Scourge seem to be downright evil, if you know what I mean. I know this is a pirate ship and all, but one needn't be a sadist." Amara looks him directly with her dark brown eyes, a little moistened as if she's on the verge of tears. "When it gets bad, and I'm sure it's going to get bad, really bad, one needs allies and friends. You'll be my friend, won't you?"

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

I'm eagerly awaiting what happens next.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Go Bastardos!

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara decides that Conchobhar needs to be devoted to her. I need all the allies I can get, I think. She consults her background working as an, ahem, barmaid with benefits to figure out the best way to go about this.

Profession check, courtesan: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

She approaches the gnome, exaggerating the sway of her hips ever so slightly, making sure that he can see her over the book as she approaches. This is an expert performance. He's doomed.

"A soft kiss from a succubus?" She sits down next to him and adopts a wide-eyed look of innocence. "What's a succubus? Some kind of plant?" She smiles, dazzlingly. "Oh yes, I think I remember seeing one in the market at the fruit-seller's booth."

Pray to Besmara for guidance, +charming bonus + CHA bonus, since he is presumably possibly attracted to Amara.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 1 + 2 = 34

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara sighs. "Better to be serving this than drinking it."

Fortitude Save: 1d20 ⇒ 14

I hope I'm not too drunk to talk

Amara is going to try to make more allies. She looks for Conchobhar and strikes up a conversation.

I need to know more about him before I role play this. Let me know what I remember about him, if anything, and I'll start sweet-talking.

KnowledgeLocal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara bursts out laughing. "He's got it bad for you, Grok!"

She puts on her best smile and tries to get a little more information on the crew. "What's with all the new conscripts? Rosie, Crimson, and Conc--er, Conchobhar, not to mention us. Is there a lot of turnover?" Amara leans forward and adds, "Has there been a lot of action recently? Seems to me if a ship's good, people will be clamoring to sign up." She looks around, "But perhaps I've said too much. Thanks for my gear!"

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara doesn't need much. And that dagger I found is better than the ones I have.

What do I remember about Grok?

knowledge local: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

"Good day, and blessings to you, Grok! Scourge said we could have four items back--could I have my buckler, studded leather armor, oh and maybe my nice clothes and soap? I wouldn't mind cleaning up a bit."

Looking over and down at the kobold, she adds, "Bastardos here could sure use his alchemy kit back. I bet he can do all sorts of interesting things with potions and such. I'm sure he would share the fun stuff out of gratitude!"

(Prayer for guidance--0th level spell, +1 to skill checks)
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 1 = 17

Aside to Bastardos: "Remember, you owe me, if this works."

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

Amara starts gathering up what she can, including a morningstar in her arsenal. Hope I don't hit myself in the head. She gathers up the coins and other items.

Should we keep track of the take? I'm starting a text file. I know we're pirates, and if you want to fight over the gold and such we can, or we can keep it in common.

"I guess it's back to the grind. See you on deck!" The girl bounces up the ladder.

Female Human Cleric of Besmara/2

By the way, welcome, Bastardos!

I wonder what you're doing with that rat, but I don't think I even noticed you.
