I think we should move on to finding Nevard. We would be more likely to find out her motives if he can allow us to talk to Gale. If we can do that we will be able to find out why she did what she did. And maybe stop further incidents that led to Nilasa's death.

the name is somewhat odd. Maybe someone has heard of him? Also, is that name from a specific land/kingdom? Maybe there is an enclave or place where people of that nationality congregate. Of course, that is likely for a wider investigation. I guess we could see if we could assign some ordinary police to follow up on these things. I vaguely recall we might be able to do that.

It has been said that a prince rules with the blessing of the divine and tradition, but that can be a slim reed to base legitimacy. Force of arms also can compel obedience but that lasts as long as the force does, and leads to a society of might make right, and fear is not a good way to define a culture.
She pauses a second, considering
The truth is that our legitimacy depends on the populace's acceptance of our actions. If every man, woman and child were to defy us, we would fail, disposed of in short order. We act towards the public weal, even if it may not seem that way to individuals we prosecute, and those close to them. We live in a society of law. That is better and more accountable.
Alsah sips her drink
Our legitimacy comes to us through the decisions and laws enacted through the crown and the goal is to serve and protect. Not the monarch alone, but the Kingdom. And that means those who live in it. It is an unfortunate truism that people act against the common good, which is why we have laws and law keepers. As my colleague has said, a young woman has died in a mysterious and brutal fashion. Our task is to find out why this happened and if someone is found responsible to determine their culpability.
She sighs
So we investigate, we question and we make conclusions. And hopefully, some justice comes out of it. It may be your help could be crucial, or a false lead. Such is the nature of these things.
