Alexite wakes to the sound of someone calling out. As Aliana begins babbling, he opens his eyes and responds, "You do that a lot, don't you?"
Rising from the floor, he manages to keep from stiffening at her intimacy. He pulls on his trousers and sits on the edge of the bed pulling on his boots as he catches his tunic with the back of his head. Pulling that over his head as he stands, he grabs his belt and heads for the door. Seeming to fumble with the belt, he has not even touched the latch as the door opens and a middle-aged woman of Varisian features comes bustling in.
"Ah, you must be the mama. This probably goes to you." So saying, he presses his hand into the woman's hand before passing her by with a smile and a wink and descending the stairs to the shop. Strapping on the belt, he whistles a jaunty tune as he exits the shop and begins the walk home.
Oh, I thought we were fading to black and moving on to the next day.
Alexite looked surprised at Aliana's direct reply. If he was surprised by her response, her suggestion had him delighted. As she walked away, he smiled after her. Giving her a head start, he took a page from the Erastilite's holy book and began to stalk his chosen prey back to her den.
Alexite's player had to sleep this morning after work and had a tabletop game tonight, so I am just now heading to the IC thread to catch up and post.
Alexite's arching eyebrows find new heights at Aliana's latest outburst. His eyes still smiling, he asks, "Did the good sister really just talk to you about the birds and the bees? I mean, who better than a priestess of animal husbandry, but really that's too rich!"
He glances back to the departing couple with a wry grin on his face before turning back to the Varisian woman for her reply.
Corsario wrote: I put "work", but I meant "walk"... Sister Esrelda Woodmere wants to accompany you and Aliana on their turn of the Zoo, with Berthold Flavion as guide. And maybe keep an eye on you both ;)
Oh, that does altogether change the meaning of that sentence.
He would have placed her hand in the crook of his elbow, not held her hand. That is too intimate a gesture in public. Check your PM to dispel any/all other confusion. I just couldn't get it typed up fast enough to beat your response.
"Oh, I see." Alexite laconically responds, seeming to have quite quickly lost all interest in the matter.
At the priestess' innuendo, Alexite arches his finely sculpted eyebrow, "Well now, sister, you are cheeky. I've always said I like that about you."

Apologies, work was unkind last night and half the staff are in training this week.
@GM - Alexite offered his arm, not his hand. That is distinctly different in english
Alexite listens to the flustered rambling of the alchemist until she mentions her concerns about his parents and the possible ramifications of his actions. Chuckling, he answers, "Ha, my parents! They would be more concerned to hear I was calling socially upon caged animals. You really are so very endearing."
He frowns in confusion, "Why would I seek out followers of Erastil?"
Regaining his charm, he continues, "Do not fret about what the young women of breeding might think of you on my arm. Instead, let them fret as to why you are in my company and they are not."
Flashing a winning grin, he adds, "As for coming to the zoo, the hour is late and most people will be on their way home for the evening. Besides, what better place for us to play our roles than where they keep the hay?"
As they enter the zoo and encounter the priestess and nobleman, Alexite looks genuinely surprised. "Now how did you know she was going to be here...?" He murmurs before reacting to the Taldan nobleman.
"Ah, Flavian, my good man. It is a pleasure to see you. I see you have sought out rare company this evening, too."
Proffering his arm, he takes the lady's hand and leads her towards the zoo leaving behind a lecherous wink in the constable's general direction. To Aliana he remarks, "Ah, the zoo. I see you, too, were affected by that animal magnetism. So primal, no?"

Returning the hails from the Marcellos, Alexite exclaims, "My that was chilling, wasn't it? I know that I won't be getting a wink of sleep tonight!" He waves to them as they depart.
Turning to the town's resident alchemist, he inquires, "Well, Ms. Merali, seeing as I'll be up all night and you'll obviously be pining for me, let's avoid such unpleasantness and spend the rest of the evening in each others company, shall we?"

And yes, I'd appreciate keeping it PG13, I do a lot of my reading at work, and it's just a matter of time before my sysadmin gets nosy.... The least we can do is give them something worth reading. Alexite will begin a graphically described striptease in his next post.

Alexite stayed for the unveiling of the main attraction. When the creature was brought out in a cage by the carnies, he frowned. Keeping such a magnificent specimen locked up was a travesty, especially as it was no mere animal, but an intelligent species. Ilsurian had to admit that she was quite striking, seemingly possessed of an animal magnetism. Such a feral attraction was having an effect upon many of the assembled spectators.
When she began to speak, he became even more intrigued. Almars Delisen asked for questions from the audience. Alexite asked, "What is it that you have over this carnival which keeps them in service to you?"
Yeah, I'm in nine games and there were over 160 posts to read tonight (more than 80 from that one game). Only 5 more to go...
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Completely oblivious to the nuances of the match, Alexite cheers just as loudly as the rest at 'Fish's' victory. He lets the crowd's tide sweep them away and makes for the book maker to claim his winnings.
Same here, I work graveyard and do not post much during the daylight hours. It's pretty rough here and another game where they are posting 50+ times per day... during the day.
Corsario wrote: Just a side note... The Shoanti Champion is fighting "clean", she has not cheated, the kick was valid (there are few rules in these combats). We of greater social standing strictly adhere to the Marquis of Queensbury's rules and that was most definitely not a gentlewomanly touch.

Alexite stands in the crowd of spectators as the fighters enter the ring. His enthusiasm is great for the upcoming match and it is plain to see the excitement on his face. Motioning for one of the book takers, he hands over a platinum piece and says, "On our boy, Fish!" Accepting the marker for his bet, he clutches it tightly in his hand anxiously awaiting the start.
As the battle begins, he cheers with the rest of the people for the hometown hero. At the blow to the Shoanti's face, Alexite cringes slightly, but still calling out unneeded, and most likely unheeded, advice. When the 'princess' kicks Fish in the kidneys, he boos along with everyone else. Everything seems to be in order except for her poor sportsmanship and Alexite is thoroughly enjoying the fight thus far.
Corsario wrote: Yes, the water's have receded. Posting today. I will change the fight to make things quicker, and get to the real action before. Ha! The flood waters are rising here in Texas

The Varisian woman smiles.
"I see somebody spoke more than he should... No, sorry Don Ilsurian, the creature must be under strict control, to insure everybody's safety. Even hers. But you will be able to see her in the big tent, after the fights."
Alexite shrugs as if it is no concern, "Ah, well, it is no matter. Today, tomorrow, it's just a delayed gratification."
He leaves the tent and makes his way home, not making any stops unless someone approaches him. Upon arrival, he drops off the packet to whomsoever was expecting it. The only interest he expresses in the whole affair is that Almara had asked after a return packet. Once his 'business' is concluded, he wanders off to change out of the simple clothes into something respectable.
As a rule, I don't really read posts that do not concern my character. I don't know if the readings are happening that same afternoon or not. If not, let me know and I will have Alexite return for some reason so as to be present.
Corsario wrote: Alexite Ilsurian wrote: I was awaiting your response to my last post. So sorry! I missed it as we posted almost at the same time!
Answering right away! No worries. I'm not the only player and those Harrow readings seem to require more time/effort. I can wait my turn.

Everything is ok?
I was awaiting your response to my last post.

Almara Delisen nods at him.
"Mister Ilsurian! A pleasure. I have your parcel here."
She hands you a magical sack, protected against divination spells, that you use for moving secret letters from Korvosa to Ilsurian.
"I guess you brought the payment with you?"
You hand to her a pouch with 100 gp, the normal payment you make for the "courier" service the Carnival provides.
The Varisian woman stores the pouch, not bothering in counting them.
"As always, before we go, you can look for me and give me the sack to be delivered at Korvosa. Please enjoy the fair, I am sure you will find it very exiting. And if you want some company or anything else, just let me know."
Alexite nods to the carnival proprietress, "Thank you, always nice to see you. I will keep an eye out for such a package and drop it by."
Turning to leave, he snaps his fingers as he remembers, "Ah! I almost forgot. I understand you have some new attraction this year. Any chance of getting an early viewing?"
As everyone begins to disperse, Alexite nods to all and makes his way into the carnival. He wanders around the grounds watching the workers erecting tents and booths. Ever so slowly he winds his way to Almara's wagon/tent, giving the sheriff time to have her say and begone before arriving to meet with her himself.
All changes made. Ugh, I can't believe I had the wrong race/class/gender.
Constable Huntington wrote: I had confused the traits Isul's Blood with Breaton Family member. I though you were one of the one's who fought discrimination.
Of course it would. Elric responds somewhat sarcastically, ignoring the man's confusion. I obviously have him confused with someone else in the Ilsurian Family.
After the awkward exchange, Elric turns towards the Sheriff to speak with her. See previous post with Elric turning aside to speak with the Seriff in private.
Alexite merely raises his eyebrows at the constable's sarcasm.
His answer was a mix of laziness and innuendo of 'good luck changing these peoples minds'.
Aliana Merali wrote: Aliana quickly turns away and fakes a cough to try and hide her exasperation at Alexite's shallow preening. Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 3 As from my first post, Alexite is dressed simply in an explorer's outfit. He tried to dressed down to better fit in with the common folk. He's made no effort to impress with his clothing or sense of style.
Constable Huntington wrote: Mr. Ilsurian, my apologies, Elric smiles and extends his hand out, It is always wonderful to see you, especially after the work you've done to promote justice and acceptance in the community. Alexite grasps the constable's proffered hand, "Oh, have I? My that would be hard work." He smiles blandly at the compliment with a look mixed of mild surprise and vacancy.
Alexite is quite a bit like Don Diego de la Vega. He only lacks a mask, a cause and even a single heroic gene. He lives off of the family name and fortune, never realizing that he could do something with his life.
Apologies for not posting yesterday. Thursday was 28 hours long and when I got home last night I slept. I am heading over to the IC thread now.
Aliana Merali wrote: "It won't be until later this afternoon; many of the carts are still setting up. I was just making rounds and checking if they needed any last minute supplies. It can be so hard for them to find anyone who will sell -" She quickly stifles her half-started comment and glances around at the group. Oh, please don't say I've just insulted some of the most popular folk in Ilsurian, she thinks. All smiles, Alexite nods in recognition to the fighter, "Mr. 'Fish', a pleasure to see you in fine fighting form."
Giving the slightest inclination of his head, he regards the shopkeep, "Ms. Merali, how are you?" At her faux pas, he keeps his smile plastered on his face, "Yes, indeed, most charitable."
At the deputy's snub, the gentleman turns to the sheriff, "How fare you today, Sheriff Feldane? I hope the carnival won't be too much of a nuisance for the good townsfolk of Ilsurian?"

Corsario wrote: Genthus Duggern
"I almost didn't recognize you... disguised... as you are now. I am sure you know the Varisian rabble carnival has arrived again to town. My prayers to Aroden to keep them away from here didn't work this year either. I hope you are not going there. It saddens me to see the good people of Ilsurian lose their valuable time enriching those Varisian beggars with the fruits of their honest labor, and the lose time in the training pits! Surely these are sad times, seeing the decadence of our people. What would your great father, Ilsur, would say if he could see us now!"
He looks at Fish at the distance.
"But I have to say, I myself will attend, if only to see Fish show what a good strong Ilsurian can do against that Shoanti "champion" of them."
Alexite turns at the sound of his name being called. "Ah, good Duggen! How are you this morning? Aroden's blessings upon you. Of course, I am going to the carnival. I don't recall my father having a negative word to say of the natives... that was his successor."
The Ilsurian scion makes as if he is pondering Duggen's mention of the pit fighter. "Funny, I don't recall ever seeing "Fish" at any of the family gatherings. Well, perhaps on a serving platter." Alexite claps Genthus on the shoulder at his jest. "Come, man, let's go and see what the wastrels have brought with them this year. It could be jolly good fun!"
Alexite had arisen late that morning as was his wont to do. After a leisurely breakfast that had all the appearances of a lunch, he bathed and dressed. At the maid's breathless telling of the day's news, the Ilsurian scion changed clothes, donning simpler fare. A poet's shirt with leather breeches and boots with his rapier hanging from one hip and his whips from the other. He took a few extra moments to adjust the spring-loaded wristsheath on his arm and load it with his dagger. shrugging on a bandolier over his shoulder, he fastened a simple leather cloak around his neck and admired himself in the tall standing mirror in his room. Quite the rugged commoner, if I do say so myself.
Grabbing a jaunty hat from one of the pegs near the front door, he walked out intent upon seeing the carnival and mixing it up with the regular folk.
Alexite Ilsurian reporting for duty. Heading to the IC thread now.

EDIT: For fair warning, my posts are primarily going to be at night West Coast time, as I work late. Don't worry though, they'll be there. :)
I work graveyard in the central time zone myself, so most of my posts are late night/early morning as I primarily post from work.

bookrat wrote: I love the idea of "all the little birdies help him out" and was actually thinking of asking about that in the event that he makes it to level 7, when his familiar gains the ability to speak with animals of its own kind.
So it would basically be, mechanics-wise, that he only has one bird helping him out at any given time, but from an outsider's point of view the bird keeps changing.
Even with that, I've grown on the idea of small birds, like thrushes and jays and finches, rather than the larger birds of prey.
Make sure to ask them for help picking up all of the lentils so I can call you Cinderella

Clever like that, right? =D Who says XP stops when you die?
Djack wrote: Comments besides "hey dude, you're all over the place!" welcome! Good to see someone else is going with trapfinding. It's just not Alexite's thing.

Roonfizzle Garnackle wrote: Like Djack, I'm comfortable building towards the end, and filling in a gap. As I see it we have a Fighter (Switchhitter, mainly Melee), a Bard (Whip/Finesse weapons), a Knife Master Rogue, a Sorcerer and maybe an Alchemist depending on which table Aliana goes to. Two PC's in contention, with largest gap into Divine, and some in Skilled (Magic Traps? Alexite does not appear to have trapfinding, or disable device, Knife Master loses Trapfinding for Magic Traps).
I am happy to take the archaeologist or detective archetypes for the long game (should it happen). Fluff-wise, archaeologist works for the character so long as there are Azlanti ruins in the vicinity. Crunch-wise, the party loses bardic performance. The detective archetype gives up inspire courage for careful teamwork which bestows bonuses to allies for trapfinding and saves against traps, but not for attacks or damage. It also confers a trapfinding ability, but only for magical traps, not mundane traps, at 2nd level. These are the only bard archetypes that I have found that grant the rogue's trapfinding feature. I don't know that in this particular game, it would be worth the trade off.
Djack wrote: Will Alexite be trap finding? Alexite is a bard. Fortunately, there are two bard archetypes that grant trapfinding. Unfortunately, both of them grant the feature at 2nd level.
I do have cure light wounds. I took it to represent that Aroden's not really dead and is granting spells to the faithful. You know, taking a page from the church of Razmir.
Yeah, I didn't pay enough attention to the module trait. You're right, it's only conditional to Ilsurian officials, so it wouldn't matter if we went on to play an AP after the module.
By the way, one of the players for your novice game is a buddy of mine. Infmike is very new to gaming. I've run a couple of games for him and some other coworkers, but he is a brand new player to both table top and pbp. He's a great guy and should be fun for your game.
Corsario wrote: Alexite Ilsurian wrote: Crunch is pretty much done. Background coming up. Looking good!
Excellent second trait choice!
I also thought Ilsur's blood would be the best module trait for a bard. Thanks! I like the trait, but Versatile Performance for Perform (oratory) covers Diplomacy and Sense Motive, so the bonus to Diplomacy really doesn't help a bard as most would skip Diplomacy since they can substitute oratory from 2nd level. Would you consider Perform (sing) instead? It covers Bluff and Sense Motive, thus avoiding duplication.
Crunch is pretty much done. Background coming up.
I will sign up for the module. Gee, I wonder what module trait I'm taking?
