A'letta:
The breach of privacy causes A'letta to close the gates. She needed only this glimpse and to pry further would be uncalled for. For now.She drew in a sharp breath before turning to the Sun Shaman. "They were ambushed by .. wiry humanoids with sharp teeth and daggers. After the attack our brothers were filled with an overwhelming feeling of pain and hunger. It could be ghouls, ravenous undead who feed on the living. We could prepare a sacrificial bait - a goat, sheep or cow would suffice - to lure them. Then, we close the trap and destroy them. They're intelligent, we could perhaps try and capture one. Someone must've created them, that someone needs to be tracked down and destroyed. Let's gather the strongest hunters!"

A'letta:
With a stern gaze spear-woman assesses the situation. She is no true healer: the mending of bones, dressing wounds and how to cure diseases she does through the guidance and help of the spirits of nature. Her people know this and perhaps this was the reason she felt the need to roam the land, return to her people. The spirits work in mysterious ways. Such thoughts ran through her head as she moved forward to the suffering warriors. "Is it just our warriors who are afflicted by this mysterious disease? No children, craftsmen or women? I assume you already tried more mundane means of magical healing."
The methodical approach of her non-Shoanti companions, such as Rhanloi, had rubbed off on her. Or she simply was wiser than she was before.
She brought forth a shiny copper charm, ready to ascertain if no foul spirits were lurking in the shadows of the tent. First she wanted to hear Kodok's answer, or if he had anything to say, the Sun Shaman's.

Sister Nightingale:
A chill runs up and down the spine of the tall Shoanti woman. If an imposing figure like herself, gazing upon the world through a mask some call terrifying and intimidating, is caused to tremble by whatever it is that ails her tribe, how bad must it be for her brethren? She threw the thought out of her head and nodded at Kodok. "Take my hand and together we shall see to it that out brothers and sisters will be safe once more."
With that being said, she reached out with her hand for his. She gave him the honor of pulling her up from her sitting position, knowing well the importance of letting fellow Shoanti show their strength. The reason no tyrant could ever rule over the Shoanti with an iron fist is that he'd never let them show their strength. The only alternative was to break them and the Shoanti would rather die than break. This made her think of Khalbar and for a moment, her heart reached out for the man with the bleeding heart. If only he'd realise that love had opened the doors of his heart, not his failure to protect his family..
"Can you take me to those who are sick, brother Kodok?"

A'letta will most likely leave to commune with nature. Perhaps she'll meet up with her mother, her tribe or who knows who! I'm sure that the region and its host of nature spirits are still beset on all sides by bad things.

Female Human Oracle 4 | HP 36/36 | AC 20 | T 14 | FF 16 | CMB +5 | F +6 | R +2 | W +3 | Init +2 | Per +4

The spirits weeped. Much blood had been spilled. Lost souls were roaming about, seeking guidance in this strange new world. The material world wasn't much better. Death and decay stained the town of Sandpoint. The horrors of war clung to its citizens and kept them firmly in its wicked grasp. Day by day, the people put yet another small part of this horrible memory to rest, one funeral at a time. Soon, the sound of saws gnawing on wooden planks filled the air. After all, life goes on, and so A'letta embraces her duties as a spirit guide. Hours are spent walking through the woods in an effort to find the right materials for her project; sinewy grass, branches and somewhere from the battlefield, a bloodstained rock which she'll use to carve out the amulets.
During these days she stumbles upon an awe-inspiring tree just north of Sandpoint. Its majestic branches stretched out far, throwing a warm shadow over the uneven ground underneath. There were more branches than she could count and this place, this would serve as the anchorpoint of her rituals.
The tall spear-woman went about town to talk to the family of the fallen. She wants to incorporate aspects of the fallen into the amulets. Their names, their profession, their passions - all of these things served as inspiration. Tens of amulets, perhaps close to a hundred in all - some for the fallen who had not been identified, such as the goblins - decorated the many branches.
Then came the hard part. She knew a song, taught to her by her mother, that would draw the attention of the spirits. To sing it would bring the lost souls of the fallen here, where they'd seek guidance, ever crying and clamoring, until they were ready to accept their fate. Pharasma might take their essence, but the mortal reflection they had cast on this world could take a form of its own after death. This is where the old ways came in. Through song, they'd come. Through dance, they'd be bound. And through ritual, they'd be laid to rest, and stay dormant.

There is the 'Slayer' from the Advanced Classes Guide. Full BAB, some SA and a variant favored enemy. Technically, you can't take levels in it if you already got levels in rogue or ranger .. but maybe Leinathan will say 'screw that' to it.

Otherwise, you might want to consider a level or two in fighter (plenty of archetypes to choose from) and sink some feats into your chosen weapon style. In my opinion, any rogue with combat aspirations should pick up Gang Up and later on, Lunge. This lets you apply SA from a relatively safe angle.. but then again, rogues are fighting an uphill battle :p

1) I'm down with anything, as long as you know you can handle it. Writing and running a home-made campaign is akin to running a marathon .. I did it for over a year, but eventually had to resort to an AP (Serpent's Skull) because I couldn't bring up the time no more. I got no idea what Jade Regent is about and I haven't played RotRL so I'm fine with either. I'm not too hot about Kingmaker, but not against it.

2) Visit the families of the fallen, talk about those they have lost and make woodcarvings for each one of them. Then, through an elaborate ritual that I'll suck straight outta mah thumb, A'letta will see their souls safe and sound into the afterlife. That should take two weeks.

3) Three months of downtime? Travel the lands, perhaps visit family and then return to Sandpoint and see about getting a more permanent home - preferably a house near the beach *laughs*

"As safe as it can be, given the circumstances. We've pushed the boulder up the mountain .. " and with that the realisation of what they had done, what they have accomplished, truly sank in. Exhausted and spent, A'letta sprawled down onto the ground. Blood had been spilled. So much blood. The spirits cried, some howling in victory, others weaping as they guide the souls of the fallen on towards the Endless Boneyards.

.. just kidding x'D do whatever you want. If you want a level of rogue (and advance in the Trickster), go for it. A'letta is a pure support character and as long as Khalbar and Kyra remain on their feet, our damage output is just fine ^^

You take the +1 breastplate. I already am rocking 20AC with a shield and light armor and I like my 30ft movement. I'm also pretty okay on saves, although oracles do get the shaft on that one: bad fort/rex, good will, but you often dump wisdom so there's that. In my opinion it is best for Pick, because he's 1) scouting ahead, 2) trying to disarm and undo traps and 3) rogues need all the help they can get ;D

The Ring of Force Shielding gives you +2 shield bonus as if wearing a heavy shield without an ACP. Unless Pick is now two-weapon fighting, I suggest it goes to either Pick or Rhanloi. I'm not sure how a monk would go about flurrying of blows when one arm is wielding a wall of force in the shape of a shield :s but if that's no problem, then Kyra is a great option as well.

I'll pass on all we've found =)

Tears of joy run down A'letta's face as she falls into Khalbar's arms. Not only is he still alive, they are victorious! The question 'at what cost' is one she's desperately trying to keep out of her head, for now, while she celebrates life through the simple act of hugging a man who was almost taken away from her. Positive energy swirls around her finger tips and without realising it, she channels even more healing magicks into Khalbar as she hugs him, repeating over and over again in Shoanti that he may never leave, ever.

The tall woman wasn't sure whether the creature was susceptible to the torment of the spirits, but she invoked the wrath of nature upon the creature nonetheless. "Know mortal suffering, feel what nature will do with the likes of you!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. A'letta isn't sure what to do now that the goblins are either running or dead and the remaining threat is in the midst of enchanted flora, reaching out to grab and entangle all who dare enter. Pick just disappeared from sight and ominously said goodbye - so the only one she could help was the elf woman.

She drops the goblin's corpse, runs over to the elf and then kneels before Shalelu, actively guarding the elf with her shield.

A'letta picked up the spell focus for her next spell. She knelt down, grabbed the lifeless remains of the goblin chieftain by the neck and got up. With big steps she strode forward and out of the undergrowth, ready to evoke dread spirits over the lumbering bugbear. The carvings on her fearsome wooden mask were tingling with power. Those near her could feel palpable waves of fear coming from her..

Once in 140 feet range of the bugbear, A'letta will cast Doom on him - DC 16 Will save or suffer from the shaken effect for 4 minutes. Yep, I made a mistake earlier: she gets +1 DC and CL on doom.

We lack the resources to defend all sections of the city at once. This means that we are forced to:
1) Predict where their main force(s) will strike.
2) Keep a mobile strike force in reserve.

Reducing the amount of sectors we have to defend will greatly increase our chances at success. Prime candidates are the noble estates to the south and one of the bridges. One? Yes, because if we destroy both we force the enemy to improvise. This means we cannot easily predict their method of attack. That's my take on it. Tanner's Bridge is close to the walls of Northgate, meaning the following two things apply:
1) it is easy to defend, because we have multiple defensive positions that cover this area, namely the houses around it, the walls, tower and cathedral.
2) if it falls, the surrounding defensive positions will be sandwiched and most likely fall as a result. Losing this position means guaranteed defeat.

Say we destroy Sandbridge point, we'll force the enemy to send their main forces to the Tanner's bridge and Northgate. They will most likely send a smaller force to improvise in the south - they could sail up by boat, capture some boats around the noble estates or simply swim on over. This is where an easy victory lies for us that we can snowball into a huge moral victory IF we plan accordingly. Here's my take on it:
1. Bait the enemy into sending a force to the south.
2. Bottleneck the enemy towards one of the bridges. I prefer Sandpoint Bridge.
3. Destroy the small strike force in the south, send a ship or two to the bridge while the assault is going on and set it on fire.

This will disrupt their coordinated attack and force them to either withdraw on both fronts, or fight on just one while they reorganise one part of their forces.

We can achieve 1. by faking a troublesome evacuation - a family with lots of kids, elderly people or 'valuable family heirlooms that cannot be left behind' like a huge ass standing clock or a piece of furniture stacked on a cart on the beach just west to where the map says 'Sandpoint Harbor'. One boat is trying to evacuate them .. and imo, that's where some of us, the PCs, should be. This way we can also be a driving force in the story of the siege of Sandpoint instead of a reactionary force.

Point 2. we can achieve by destroying Tanner's bridge and point 3. should be easy enough once 1 and 2 are achieved, right?

But I'm open for any idea, really ;)

"We .. shouldn't go there, unless there is a mighty good reason for it accompanied by a brilliant plan. I felt the cold hand of death digging its nails into my back .."

"Maybe they're having some kind of meeting inside their lair? We should check it out .. in fact, let me consult the spirits, see how they react to our plans to enter this place .."

And with that, the tall woman kneels down and digs her fingers into the earth as supernatural whispers echo into this world. They are incomprehensible to all but the woman who called them into this world.

For dramatic purposes, I assume we're within 30 minutes of our 'destination'. The question: what will exploring the Thistletop lair bring us?

Augury:
n augury can tell you whether a particular action will bring good or bad results for you in the immediate future.

The base chance for receiving a meaningful reply is 70% + 1% per caster level, to a maximum of 90%; this roll is made secretly. A question may be so straightforward that a successful result is automatic, or so vague as to have no chance of success. If the augury succeeds, you get one of four results:

Weal (if the action will probably bring good results).
Woe (for bad results).
Weal and woe (for both).
Nothing (for actions that don't have especially good or bad results).

If the spell fails, you get the "nothing" result. A cleric who gets the "nothing" result has no way to tell whether it was the consequence of a failed or successful augury.

The augury can see into the future only about half an hour, so anything that might happen after that does not affect the result. Thus, the result might not take into account the long-term consequences of a contemplated action. All auguries cast by the same person about the same topic use the same die result as the first casting.

Dear lord .. I thought 'hey, maybe I can find a cool picture of a native indian/polynesian woman dancing at the beach!' and then I stumbled upon this photo, haha. I guess it's time to change my favorite disney princess from the Little Mermaid to Pocahontas ..

Who needs omens when the reality is this tangible? Still, the strands of fate could be read simply by studying nature. A'letta got out of bed and, without first washing herself or grabbing some breakfast, made her way to the beach in the western part of Sandpoint. The morning breeze washed away the mental grime as she made her way down to the surf. There she sat down, feet firmly planted in the shifty sand. The waves came crashing down a meter in front of her and this sight helped to calm her mind. Yes, danger was still ahead, but they still had time to prepare for the battle to come. Cold water rushed up around her ankles. She knew the water could not reacher any higher, for now. The answer obviously wasn't to be found in the water. Reclining back, the water soaked her yellow dress as she laid down to watch the birds overhead. Oh, if the gods and spirits had a favorite messenger, it surely must be these winged animals.

A good twenty minutes passed before A'letta knew what she needed to know. She scrubbed herself clean using handfuls of sand and salty water, not caring if anyone saw her naked. The thin-spun yellow dress, the tribal spear and her carved wooden mask laid on a heap a couple of meters behind her. Then, she invoked the spirits to wash and bless her and a rift appeared above her from where blessed water from the spirit world poured through. When all was said and done, she heard her tummy rumbling. Spirits and omens would have to wait for now, because someone was hungry!
