Yes, I know about the survey and already used it for my feedback. But the community can't see the input from the users and comment on it, Paizo can't follow these ideas and funnel them through a workflow. It all seems a little chaotic. If I want to see all ideas concerning resonance with at least 10 replies how would I do that? You also can't run KPIs on the incoming ideas or reports. All of this would be possible if a fitting tool was used.

The forum is nice an all, but we live in modern times :).
Wouldn't some kind of open innovation tool be better and easier to use to collect and evaluate all the feedback from the community?

May it's just me but most feedback I see from the playtest is negative. I know that ppl tend to post more if they are unhappy about it, but the negative feedback seems overwhelming at the moment. Does this constitute a financial risk to Paizo? I mean if they bring out this new edition and many ppl don't buy it because the don't like it, won't that be a serious problem for Paizo? And if yes, doesn't that mean that they will listen very closely to what the community has to say, to prevent that?

Hi there,

I played Doomsday Dawn today and completed the survey.

Here are some points that I think might warrant looking into again:

Alchemists:
Please consider giving them precise bombs at level one. At least to exclude one ally per level or something.
We got most damage from our Alchemists, and it even killed one of the characters.
Clerics:
I was often in a situation where I could not do anything useful. Recommendation would be to make Guidance a 30 feet range spell.
Also having the area effect of heal just do casting attribute and let channel energy just do the heal spell, means a significant reduction in healing capabilities. We had to go back to the city and rest quite often.
General Stuff:
Resonance:
Considering our healing trouble, having to fight with resonance on top of that was really bad. I understand the reason behind a mechanic to prevent endless use of magic items, but there must be a better way. Or if you go with resonance, at least increase it significantly.
Feats:
I miss being able to select a feat to customize my character at level one. I would propose to give one general feat (at least) to every 1st level on top of what they are getting now.
I like the idea of the heritage/ancestral feats to make characters of the same race more different from each other. But having just one feat at 1st level is not enough. I would recommend choosing 2 or even 3 out of maybe 10.
Fighter Feat:
I heard from several ppl that they want to use Fighter Feat on second level. I'm considering that myself to get access to the Dwarven Waraxe.
If it becomes THE choice for ppl as their 2nd-level feat, there might be something wrong with the mechanic. Please consider this.

That's all from my side for now. More probably tomorrow after the first scenario.

Hi Ala,

Thanks for letting us know! Yes, this is an issue that we are still helping people with if they are unable to get a replacement or a refund from the retailer that they originally purchased the book from.

The next step would be to email us at customer.service@paizo.com. In that email we'll need a picture of the damaged book to pass on to our manufacturer, along with a good address to get your replacement book sent out to. Our inbox is a little full right now, but once we reach your email, we will be happy to help you as quickly as we can.

I hope this helps! Please don't hesitate to let me know if there are any further questions or concerns that you may have in the meantime.

Danke, und schönes Wochenende! :)

Hi there,

I also bought the first Starfinder Core Rulebook here in Germany, and have been playing happily since September. Now my book shops the same issue already mentioned here and on facebook. Do you still replace the books and is this offer also valid for Germany?

Hi there,

I have another rules question:
Warpriest:
I am using the Blade and Tankard Style style. This makes the tankard count as a light mace. For sacred weapon, I need a weapon focus. Do I take weapon focus tankard or weapon focus light mace?

Hi guys,

thank you for the discussion. I was a little worried that this is a clear thing and I am asking for something obvious. But this discussion goes along the same lines as the one I had at facebook and with my GM :). There seem to be valid points for both points of view. And there is not "offical" statement from Paizo yet, even though this is an open question since years :).

7 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Hi there.

I had a discussion with a PFS GM yesterday about how Point Blank Shot (and other Damage increases like Divine Favor, Deadly Aim, Bard Song etc) influence splash damage for the Alchemist Bomb. On one side the the rule says:
Splash damage from an alchemist bomb is always equal to the bomb’s minimum damage (so if the bomb would deal 2d6+4 points of fire damage on a direct hit, its splash damage would be 6 points of fire damage).
The FAQ says:
Question: Point Blank Shot: Do I add the feat's extra damage to the splash damage from a splash weapon?
Answer: No, the extra damage from Point Blank Shot only applies to the target of a direct hit with a splash weapon (including direct hits from an alchemist's bomb).

This is confusing. I understand that I don't add the PBS bonus to the splash as a +1 to whatever splash damage I make. But is the increased damage from Feats, Spells and other abilities taken into consideration when calculating the splash damage, and the FAQ entry only prevents "double dip"?

It would be great to get a statement here :)
I read lots of posts about this in the forum and there is a lot of discussion but I never saw an "offical" answer.

Thank you

Can you say anything about how this will be handled in other countries, for me specifically in Germany?

Ok,

thank you all for the input. I see the point now.

Thank you very much for bearing with me :).

P.S. I hope we get this Worg an can return to Falcon's Hollow :)

Liberty's Edge

Hi all,

this question has been bothering me for some time now:

Damage Reduction and alignment.

If I am a champion of the good side (Paladin, Angel, etc.) why do I get a
damage resistance that can be overcome by the opponents I fight most often? In my opinion it makes no sense to have DR X/evil for a character with good alignment since 99% of my enemies are evil and DR is supposed to help me, isn't it? If I had DR X /good I would say, OK, if I fight a good creature, I am doing something wrong, so no DR.

Does anyone know or can explain the reason behind DR vs alignment being handled this way? I tried to search and google for it, but found not offical statement to this, just similar questions to mine.

Kind regards

Ala

P.S. Please excuse any spelling errors.
