Still cursing his bad aim during the fight, Aladair helps repair the gates and looks over the locking mechanism and if there might be any way to further protect the gate, or maybe add some sort of defensive traps to help if ever besieged again.

As the enemy flow through the broken gate, Al draws his bow back and fires into the hoard of gnolls.

Seeing the gate fail, Al fires at the first gnoll to rush through the opening.

Cursing in frustration, and with no more gnolls on or over the wall, Al rushes forward to help those at the gate.

Again Al fires at the gnolls topping the wall, silently praying that this time his arrow flies true.

Wow...at this rate Al will need one of the gnolls to fall onto his arrow to do any damage...lol!!!

Aladair nocks another arrow and fires at the gnolls breaching the wall.

Aladair rushes out of the shop and looks over to see Valghaz exiting what must be the gem-cutter's shop.

"Come, let's get to the wall and see what we can see!"

Aladair rushes off towards the main gate.

"Before you go Valghaz take these stones and see if you can figure out what they are worth."

Turning back to Rasmus, Al places his hand on his chin as if in thought.

"Hmmm...now let's see. What goods do you have here? Anything that would assist up-and-coming adventures like ourselves?"

"Greetings Master Pye...I am hoping that you can assist me in a small matter. My friends and I had a harrowing trip here to the ferry and on the way, we came across a bit of treasure. The largest portion turned out to be copper shields. I was hoping to trade them for a more manageable denomination, if possible. I also have a couple of small gems that we also discovered and was hoping that you might have some knowledge with valuing them."

Again Al is slipping in keywords and certain phrases that are part of the Thieves Cant. Just wondering if this fellow picks up on them or not.

Aladair finishes his meal and stretches as he rises from the table.

"A fine meal Master Odo. I am going to go and talk to this Rasmus fellow at the trading post and see if I can't get some of this coin switch to something easier to carry! Who wants to come?"

Al waits until those who are going to join him gather and then heads over to the Trading Post.

Aladair smiles fondly at the Tiefling.

"Your wish is my command!", he says with a slight flourish.

"Some good cheddar as well Innkeeper."

Aladair takes out 15 gold monarchs and places them on the bar.

"There that should take care of meals and rooms for the day. I also have a large number of copper shields that I would like to exchange...is there a moneylender in the town?"

Drinks my good fellow. We are parched after our harrowing journey and seek a little rest and relaxation. I will have whatever cider you might have and the others...well I am sure they will tell you what they desire. What have you on the menu for today? We will probably eat as well and finally, we will need rooms for all of us. Well, I think that takes care of everything for the moment."

While talking the elf wanders the room and chooses the table with the best views of the exits from the bar and sits down.

He also uses some keywords from the hidden language of his trade (thieves cant) to see if anyone in the room might have connections to the local guild.

The elf heads off towards the Bristleback.

"Oh, and the first drink is on me!", he calls back over his shoulder.

Looking around to see if anyone might step forward (other than the dwarf), Aladair calls out to the guards.

"A good morning to you. We are travellers here to catch the ferry but were unfortunately waylaid during our trip here by bandits. We are looking for a room at the local Inn for an evening or two, a warm meal and passage on the ferry."

Al keeps a close eye on the wall. The last thing they need is to have gone through that ordeal and be killed by a nervous archer at the gates to a town.

"Easy friend Valghaz. We do not want them to mistake us for bandits!"

AL moves out and starts following the others towards the river. He keeps his eyes and ears open for any sign of pursuit or another ambush.

Aladair holds the rope tight as Valghaz begins to climb.

Can he be considered assisting for each person climbing??

If no one else makes a move to retrieve the vials, Aladair steps forward and takes them. He wraps them in s bit of cloth then stores them in his belt pouch, for easy retrieval.

Al leaves the shield, cloak and the vials with those who seem to know their properties best, and scoops up the various coin to deposit it into his pack.

"I'll hold onto this for the time...once we are free we can divide it up. Now, let's go back and check those tunnels before something else creeps from the shadows to attack us!"

He begins to head back to the room where they first encountered the spiders and the pit.

"While I have found no egress from this cave, I have discovered a wealth of items! Come, let's show them to the others."

The elf hauls everything he has found back to where the others are camped.

"Here now...looks like this little adventure of ours has not been for nought! I have uncovered many interesting items in the lair of that spider-beast...here take a look!"

He sets the items out on the ground for the entire party to see.

Moving into the lair of the strange spider-creature, Aladair looks around the cavern, as well as searching the creature.

With his dark vision, Aladair is able to see the spider creature dragging poor Penance off. He moves forward to give others the chance to get to her as he fires another arrow at the strange beast.

Taking aim at this new threat, Al firest his bow at the rapidly advancing creature.

Aladair, seeing that his magic hand is having no effect on the swarm, reaches into his pack and removes a torch, which he lights and waves towards the spiders.

Not sure if he can do all of that in one turn, but he will try to get as much done as possible.

Al, seeing the spiders tries to use his mages hand to push the swarm away from the group.
Not really sure this will work, but the hand can lift up to 10 pounds and I am not sure if this would be seen as an attack or not

With the bargain struck, Aladair mutters a few syllables and a ghostly hand appears near the webbing. He directs the hand to remove the gauzy barrier.

Feeling the slight movement of the air from the southeast, the elf turns towards the source just as the dwarf calls the others attention to the phenomenon.

"I feel it too. Perhaps a way out of this place?"
