In the aftermath of the events, Aegis retreats to a hut he used to train at on the island of Jalmaray. There he writes down his version of events as objectively and as completely as possible. He sends each of other others a copy.

After completing his writing he finds himself unready to leave. Days become weeks, and weeks become months. He spends most of his time meditating, training, and cogitating.

It is quiet day when the first student arrives at his doorstep. Word of his psychic power and training eventually makes it out into the world. Perhaps it is from his account of the events, or perhaps it's someone noticing him on one of his supply trips into town. He takes the student in and in time has a cohort of six.

He finds himself fulfilled by the training. The schedule is physically and mentally demanding. In time students take their leave as new ones begin.

There are days where Aegis thinks of what is out there, and if he should return to the world to test his mettle again. Those days are few and far between, but they are there...

"Killia Huon-Wynn?" Aegis goes over to check for signs of life.

Seeing the barrage, Aegis focuses his mind on a spell he knows oh-so-well, though he has little psychic energy left:

Lvl 3 MM: 6d4 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 3, 4, 4) + 6 = 25

He then tries to lash out with a bit more: PsiBurst: 7d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 4, 1, 4, 3) = 18 Basic REF DC 32.

Basic Will: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33 Net 40 DMG

Near death, Aegis quickly releases his psyche to soothe his own wounds: Soothe: 4d10 + 16 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 4) + 16 = 28 Net HP: 40

With next to nothing left in the tank, he tries to simply lash out with some ambient energy:

Aegis digs deep, unleashing all he has left in the tank. The foe is too powerful for spells that only affect the weak, so he aims another blast, this time fully unleashing his psyche:

Amped and Unleashed TKP: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (5) + 22 = 27
Amped and Unleashed TKP: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 35 for DMG if hit: 13d6 + 5 + 14 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 1, 3, 4, 2, 6, 3, 1, 1, 1, 4) + 5 + 14 = 57

He then pushes to reunite mind and spirit.

Frustrated, Aegis digs deep and amps a simple spell, designed to simply hammer the cocoon:

Amped TK Projectile: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (14) + 22 = 36 for DMG: 13d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 6, 1, 4, 4, 4, 2, 4, 1, 1, 3) + 5 = 47

His frustration manifests as an extra burst of psychic energy: PsiBurst: 7d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 1) = 18 Basic REF DC 32

Aegis, seeing the potency of Tenpot's words, decides to grant a bit more oomph and gives the tengu a spell of heroism too. Out that was my last.

Also not trained. I'd need a 19 on the die. GM, would you allow Disturbing Knowledge?? Aegis tries a different approach, opening the conversation to realms that no mortal should ever try to wrap their heads around... Occultism: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (7) + 24 = 31 Sigh...

"No! It shall not be this! It shall not be your sick and twisted way of things!"

Aegis rushes forward and warps the space around him to give him a line. He lets off a blast of some of his most potent remaining magic. Spirit Blast: 16d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 3, 3, 5, 4, 6, 6, 1, 5, 2, 5, 2, 1, 6) = 57 Basic FORT DC 32

"Let's do this." If Aegis thinks he can get a clean shot, he'll open with an attack spell right here and now.

Aegis joins... casting a spell of Heroism on Vesperscale as he goes. "I hope we come to a conclusion within 10 minutes my friend."

Aegis takes a moment to understand what he's seeing. "My friends, everything here seems impossible and strange. Are we hear to end this ...man?"

The psychic doesn't wait, "Who ARE you?"

"I think we should go down to meet our destiny."

We are on a time limit...

Actually, I have a single slot available for Soothe at level 6 and I can use it at level 1: Heal: 6d10 + 24 + 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10, 6, 4, 2, 3, 8) + 24 + (8) + 4 = 69.

that should cut it all down to 20 Minutes.

Aegis awakes with a ROCKING headache. "I'm.... sorry I was so useless. What's the situation?"

Despite trying to find something, ANYTHING to do, Aegis just wonders if this is his life now.

With magic unhindered by the grasping foes, Aegis unleashes a Blistering Invective. Effects all 3 with 5d6 Persistent Fire. DC is 32

He then blasts Red with a psionic burst: Mental DMG: 8d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 4, 2, 1, 3, 4) = 23 Basic REF DC 32

Tenpots, directly in front of Aegis is clearly a mortal threat. Aegis immediately takes some of the debris from his previous spell and hurls it, unleashed psyche and all, at his teammate ATK: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (4) + 22 = 26 MISS

Will v. Confusion: 1d20 + 23 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 23 + 1 = 27
Will v. Hallucination: 1d20 + 23 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 23 + 1 = 29

Aegis lets his power unleash, his psyche manifesting as whipping winds around him. He pictures a line across the area and then unloads with a telekineticc bombardment. His mind whips one of the tables on edge and pulls it crashing down in a line across the enemies. It does Bludgeoning: 14d6 + 14 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 4, 1, 5, 2, 6, 6, 4, 3, 2, 6, 3) + 14 = 62 damage, and the rectangle is now difficult terrain. REF DC 32 and it's a bit more complex than Basic.

Barely able to keep it together, Aegis retreats into the hall. Before he goes, Aegis hurls a spiritual blast at the closest creature DMG: 16d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 5, 5, 2, 5, 3, 5, 4, 6, 1, 5, 6, 5, 1) = 58 Basic FORT DC 32

"Well, then, let's." Aegis goes to the infirmary, hoping to finish off the investigation there.

"I worry that splitting up may leave us in a weakened position, but I wonder if we should head to the places we are most comfortable, and to redouble our efforts. What say you all?"

Occultism: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (1) + 24 = 25 Come on!!!! I don't remember if I have a hero point or not, but I'd use it here. Will act as if I don't for the moment.

"I feel your frustration, it's like a dagger in my mind. I feel like we're getting no closer with time closing in on us."

"Agreed, though I lament my inefficacy. I'll follow."

"Well... That's annoying." Aegis focuses his mind to affect the reality of the room, bringing illumination with a spell. "While I'm sure we can go back and do a better job, let's check out the room over there." Map updated.

Athletics: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30 Aegis jumps in on the sparrow with Vesperscale to make sure it doesn't slip free.

"Aye.... This place doesn't sit well with me. I don't like not understanding the mystery."

Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29
Occultism: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (5) + 24 = 29

Suffering from a headache, Aegis just... doesn't have his mind in the game right now, despite it being so very important.

Ah yes, the bad guys hitting on a 3 and critting on a 13.... Awesome.

Concentrate: 1d20 ⇒ 9 While grabbed, Aegis opts for a dual blast of Psychic Power, unleashing his psyche for the effort! Spirit Blast (Unleashed) and Psi Burst

Aegis envisions a change in reality, a shearing of space and time that creates a box made of pure force. Casting Force Cage on Red. DC is 32.

"Agreed. Let's go."

"Glass like this must've cost a king's ransom!" Aegis eyes the prowling guards. Occultism +24

"Interesting. I understood much more there. Let's look to new places, perhaps we'll find other things we understand." Map updated.

Aegis calms himself for a strange communion. He reaches out with his mind and... Occultism: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (9) + 24 = 33

Yeah we struck out right, retry isn't an option? If that's the case, move on to the next one. If we can retry, will most definitely. I've updated Aegis's position on the map for "the next one."

Arcana: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27 Aegis looks about the room, trying to discern clues, but his direct involvement leads nowhere...

"Good idea." Aegis does the same. Once he confirms that there is no magic in the room, he suggests peeking across the hall.

That description channels (the good parts) of Lovecraft well.

"Let's go left... after we get a good read on this reptile." Investigating the occult for exploration

"Well then... I did not see this coming. Let us rest, reflect, and prepare. I think another adventure awaits us!"

Nearly dropping to one knee, Aegis grunts in pain. He looks up at Tenpots and rearranges the chemistry in his mind to make him even more courageous in this life or death fight. Level 6 Heroism spell, and that was my last big one.

He then lashes out with a quick burst of psionic power. Bludgeoning: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 3, 1) = 11 Basic REF DC 31

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34 "Not today!"

Aegis has mental resistance 6 Aegis grunts, but bears it, hoping some sure fire damage will do it. He unleashes his psyche in a whirlwind of power, despite being slowed down.

Level 5 MM: DMG: 6d4 + 6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 3, 3, 1) + 6 + 10 = 28

REF: 1d20 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 20 + 1 = 25 Mental Resistance means 28 DMG

Aegis tries and fails to avoid the blast. He whips around and blasts as much psychic energy as he can muster:
