eeny-meeny-miny-momeeeeeeeeeeeee... me.

Just checking in. Good luck everyone.

Sczarni

This is Adrien, though an old concept, I've completely revamped him to fit your guidelines. The one thing that should quickly catch your attention is that he's Aasimar, but that is completely explained and justified in his backstory, so let me know what you think.

Due to prices of armor in CR and APG, I've selected some armor from UC. If that's not okay, I can select something standard, though his AC will suffer for it.

His backstory is pretty long, but if you have the time I think it's a good read.

As for his ability, he is a combat focused fighter who specializes in defense. Depending on the dynamic of the party and his experiences, he can level to become a superior tank, or a superior damage dealer. Regardless, he will be able to accomplish both tasks fairly well.

Additionally, as a very important part of his personality and backstory (where optimization meets flavor), he is a trained diplomat. He could easily serve as the party face, or simply be used in social situations to accomplish tasks.

Sczarni

:/ ya, maybe we could re-evaluate... I mean I'm down to play whatever with you guys, even if it's a home-brew or something different.

Sczarni

@Digger

If Adrien makes it, you can take your time stealthing or tumbling in for the flank, as Brevyre and I would have no problem holding the front.

Ahhh, my favorite rogues are always Charisma based.

Sczarni

:) I'm still here, and checking in every day. You won't lose me if this works. I'd just play two games.

Sczarni

@Digger digger's awesome. "to live the greatest story of all time."
Just wait 'till he gets jumped by a bunch of Gobs.

@Goat cool. Would you like me to stay active on the thread through friday, or just check back then?

Sczarni

This is Adrien. I made him a while back to play in a campaign that died in the middle of the first combat session. All of your questions are already answered in his backstory. I am a dedicated player and would make a consistent addition to your game.

I think there are a couple of very minor kinks that would need to be settled (removal of traits, adding 5 build points, adjustment of skills, possible revision of gear). I look forward to answering any specific questions you might have.

Question:
Why have you chosen to run this game without traits? My character build is heavily intertwined with Diplomacy. Would it be possible to take Diplomacy as a class skill, without the +1 trait bonus? The character was originally a cavalier, but I swapped him into a fighter because it fit his combat style better.

Sczarni

Adrien continues to laugh and jest as the night goes on.

"You know Noro, that story reminds me of a time I got in a boxing match with this fellow at the Sandpoint Festival... oh wait"

With a laugh and a smile, Adrien puts his arm around Rohan and gives him a shake.

Sczarni

Sadly, I have to reconsider my entire build as it was very MAD.

I'm going to have to sit down and recrunch the whole thing.

Edit: Actually, that was a lot easier than I thought. Attributes are done, now I just gotta reword some build stuff.

Sczarni

Will work on it when I have time tonight

Sczarni

Checking in. It looks as though our Bard and our Oracle (Zelaria and Esmeralda) have not yet responded. IF we're lucky we'll get Zel, but I wouldn't count on Esme, I think she was already inactive.

Sczarni

Adrien (Tank, Diplomat) checking in.
1. No preference.
2. If everyone checks in, I think we're okay.
3. I enjoy a good balance. This party does well with RP and is effective in combat.

If you PM me your email and we can discuss the Anniversary edition.

Sczarni

Feel free to open a GM recruitment anybody. I don't have the energy right now.

Sczarni

I'm willing to play this if we get another DM. We'd likely have to create another thread and start over, but I'm game.

Sczarni

Hey guys, sorry it's been a few days. I'm super busy with school and my other DMing commitment here on the boards. I'm down to continue posting as a player each day, but I'm going to need someone else to take the lead on the DMing part here. I can also put time into developing and managing more maps as necessary!

Sczarni

My vote is wait until we have people committed to moving forward. We're down two right now, and until their back I don't see sense in moving forward.

Sczarni

I just tested it on IE 8 and it seems to be working perfectly for me. On the tool bar, right below and between "insert" and "format", you see a magnifying glass. Select that, and then right click to zoom out.

No problem. I would like to see this work, so I'll put in my effort.

Sczarni

Select the magnifying glass and right click to zoom out.

Orange square inducates prone, blue sleep

It wasn't a demoralization check. It was an aggro check using intimidate. I still need to study Rysils aggro rules.

Sczarni

Alright, all caught up. Enjoy!

Sczarni

Alright, c'est fini.

I'll get to figuring out what's going on and how all of the declared actions so far play out in the morning.

The way the map works is like this:

All of the images are "Grouped". This means that you'll have to click your token once or twice to get it to move and function independently (don't worry, it will still act as grouped when un-selected). The purpose of this is to make sure that if the map gets moved by accident, it won't screw the whole thing up. Please be very careful with the map, as it could obviously all go to shiz with one mistake. Remember to use ctrl-z if you make a big mistake. I'll try to keep a running copy so that we don't lose everything.

When taking your turn, please move your token to the desired spot, and declare your move in the chat:

"I move from E15 to F19 and attack"

This way we'll be able to retrace your steps if necessary. Feel free to engage the environment (step on tables to gain height advantage, flip them over for cover, throw a mug if your buy a table etc...)

Token Color Code:

Purple - Party Member
Green - Friendly/Allied NPC
Red - Hostile NPC
Orange - Civilian/Other

I'll do my best to adhere to "Rysil's Rules of Aggro". As for how combat will play out, I will be controlling all of the NPC's. They will run and take turns in groups as follows:

Group 1
Group 2
Friendly NPC's

I will determine where these clumps fall in the initiative chain. This will make my life easier, because I won't have to check in every two seconds.

Let me know if you have any questions comments and suggestions.
I'm excited to get this show on the road!

Sczarni

Can't derail a train with no tracks.

edit: Though Kingmaker is hardly the sandbox it's made out to be.

Sczarni

If you're feeling bored, you're welcome to watch me in action. This will also be the combat map I use. I'll activate editing rights for you guys later once i've got it finished.

Sczarni

Question:

Do all of you use/have access to Google Docs?

Sczarni

Okay, so huge apology on my end here. I missed one of the spoilers from one of Rysil's old messages that got buried before I saw it. I'm going to work to get this show on the road. I want us to make Rysil proud by at least finishing the combat! Haha. I'll be working on it for the next little while and will have my updates posted up.

Zelaria, if you wanna take point on this one you're welcome, but let me know soon because I'm going gung ho! In any case, I can take over DM'ing for now, as there are plenty of tanks in the party, and let Rysil resume when he's ready.

Any objections, ideas, suggestions?

Sczarni

I'll take a look at it tonight and see what we can do!

Sczarni

Hey all,

I've gotta say, I've had fun this holiday with my whole family in town, but I just hope things pick up next week.

@Noro I'm a bit confused why you played just a couple of Goblins. It seems like it would be a lot easier if we just let Rysil handle GMing (I'm aware he mentioned us helping, my suggestion below).

@Rysil
If I may, a couple of suggestions:

1. Play all of the NPCs/Monsters at the same time. This will allow you to just play one big turn without having to dip in constantly to play all those turns. I think it will help combat move faster. While this isn't consistent with the table-top format in most cases, it will expedite and increase flow given the circumstances.

2. Write and format all of your posts in notepad or Word before copy/pasting them into the website. This will allow for quicker easier formatting, and it will remove the possibility of losing anything.

@Talon I agree. I think if someone misses a full day, their turn should be played for them, though we'll need input from Rysil on this one. I'm not about force-pushing this campaign forward, but I am very excited about it and I think we've got a lot of cool team members that will make this campaign a memorable one!

Sczarni

not much time right now. You've traveled a full day's travel, and should make it by early afternoon tomorrow. If you want to, you can setup camp and rest. I'll get to the looting late tonight.

Sczarni

Hey guys,

Glad to see that things are up and running! Will someone take care of the initiative roller today? I've got to run to my RL game, and was just checking in to see what's up. If nobody cares, I'll take care of it in about 5 or 6 hours when I get home.

Excited to be back in business!

Sczarni

RYSIL!

Well, while we're at it....

"Ladies ladies ladies.... Jay and Silent Bob are in the hizzoussssse!"

Oh and:

"In a world gone mad, we will not spank the monkey, but the monkey will spank us."

Jay is my roll model... or was back in highschool anyway.

Relieved to have you back Rysil! Depression was beginning to set it, but you have saved us from darkness. I've got no problem waiting until things settle down!

Sczarni

Okay, I'm moving towards hospital now...

Sczarni

The way I see it, I'd like to have our relationships develop in game through encounters that have some relevance, but I'm down to try it out if the majority does. I'm personally leaning toward revisiting the discussion on Friday/Saturday (1 week from Rysil's last post), and weighing our options at that point.

Sczarni

I'm sure things will move foreward. It sounds like he might not have internet access right now, or like he's just too sick. Knowing him though, he'd make an effort to check in with us at least. My guess is the internet's out in his neighborhood. Taking bets.

Sczarni

I think im waiting for a clarification on combat rules.

Sczarni

Here it is, just click reply and it should break down all the coding.

Initiative Roller:
Adrien: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Esme: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Noro (just incase): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Rhasa: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Rohan: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14(sheet says 5, i calculated 3)
Talon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Zelaria: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Monster 1: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Monster 2: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Monster 3: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Order:

Esme
Rhasa
Noro
Rohan
Monsters (Using monster one for all here)
Talon
Zelaria
Adrien

Just an idea :)

Talon that just isn't fair. Esme's crush on your character became much bigger. :P

I suppose this is how I view Esmeralda with blue eyes instead of brown.

Everyone loves cheese. :D

Just saw this, thanks!

PS I can't say Adrien has a crush on Esme yet... but I sure do.

Sczarni

RYSIL!

How's life treatin' ya Ryslil?

And don't say "he caught me in bed with his wife"

@Noro Sounds like a rough day! Hopefully we can get more input from Rysil on this one

Took me a few minutes to realize I had to click "download" to get the high res. image.

Anyway, so are we supposed to roll for initiative?

A humble suggestion, Rysil. Maybe you could just copy and save an initiative roller for the whole team, that you update when we level up. Just past and submit, and then go back and edit the post to reflect the rolled order. This way it saves an entire wave of rolls.

I'll take a minute and make it.

Sczarni

Might as well watch it now! It's a good film, but it takes a bit of maturity to put down. The main character is so intriguing.

Sczarni

Probably one of the more disturbing films I've ever seen. The indoctrination scenes still get to me sometimes!

Sczarni

GM Rysil wrote:
Oh and Adrien, I knew it was a mistake to let an Assimar in the group Darkvision and Daylight. It's like my worst low level nightmare.

*Sniffle, I'm not trying to break your game! You just happened to play right into my strength. At first I thought you were trying to make me shine or something. Either way, this can still be played as low light right now (assuming the reason the light went two steps down to completely dark was because the lanterns and/or candles went out too.)

Sczarni

Esme,

Is it based on SL or CL,

The spell description says dispelled by higher level spell so I think we're good.

Sczarni

Rysil:

Darkness

This spell causes an object to radiate darkness out to a 20-foot radius. This darkness causes the illumination level in the area to drop one step, from bright light to normal light, from normal light to dim light, or from dim light to darkness. This spell has no effect in an area that is already dark. Creatures with light vulnerability or sensitivity take no penalties in normal light. All creatures gain concealment (20% miss chance) in dim light. All creatures gain total concealment (50% miss chance) in darkness. Creatures with darkvision can see in an area of dim light or darkness without penalty. Nonmagical sources of light, such as torches and lanterns, do not increase the light level in an area of darkness.Magical light sources only increase the light level in an area if they are of a higher spell level than darkness.

If this works, Adrien will cast daylight on his shield and run to the bar, blocking the creatures from as many people as possible.

Sczarni

Adrien tries but can't quite shake off the buzz.
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
(if he can see what's going on before his turn, or waits until his turn)
Using Darkvision, Adrien immediately scans the room looking for anybody who seems to know where they're going, or brandishing any weapons..
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 - 1 = 12

Sczarni

Adrien looks Zelaria in the eye with a warm smile. His elevated eyebrows show renewed sense of enjoyment since he realized he'd had one too many ale's. Most would just be getting started after a couple of mugs, but Adrien is not willing to leave his actions to chance in a social setting, and couldn't forgive himself if he let someone down because he was drunk.
"Zelaria, you look lovely tonight. If I didn't know you could take care of yourself on the street I'd forcibly employ myself as your bodyguard. I bet my sword would see more action shadowing you than it ever did guarding my previous employer."

Sczarni

Hey all,
I've found a very good piece of art that depicts Adrien very well. He is shown here in fine apparel and with masterwork weaponry, which when I can spare the GP I'll buy. He's got his Bec de Corbin in hand, as well as his Longsword in sheath.

Adrien attempts to stabilize Kendra as she stands up, using the same arm she had just grabbed.
"My wits must be abandoning me. I think I've had more to drink than usual." He responds to Belor.
As Kendra wobbles off, he thinks to himself "I've had far too much to drink too."
Adrien lifts his hand to gain Rhasa's attention"Rhasa, you holding up alright? There's more people than I think I've ever seen. Do you happen to have anything sobering to drink? Perhaps a glass of hot ginger or lemon balm? I'm sure you know just what I need."
Amidst all the chaos, Adrien tries to keep a keen eye to what's going on in the tavern between conversations. He figures someone is bound to cross the line soon enough, and would rather not suffer that the girls be left to take care of the mess when all is said and done.

He would turn it into something more like a wrestling match, where he could then try to turn it into a training routine. He would also agree to an arm wrestle for fun.
