Jack-of-Blades wrote: killing surrendered prisoners was deemed to not be an evil act by the GM (since the prisoners were evil). Lame. Evil for the sake of evil robs morality of any depth. If alignment is simply delineating two sides for the sake of combat, there's no difference betwen good and evil since the good characters are the same as evil characters (killing them once they've surrendered). I believe this is an example of a GM who is doing his campaign a disservice. ALSO, very few characters operate entirely within a single alignment. Hans Solo, arguably a chaotic good character, shoots and kills Greedo, despite owing Jabba money. He doesn't make a habit out of doing this, and it is arguably an evil act (certainly chaotic) but he remains good. As for a Paladin walking away from the party, the DM might as well end the game anyways. The party is not acting cohesively. This conflict offers an opportunity for players to role play and come to a mutually agreeable solution, but if they're unwilling to compromise the only option is to go their separate ways. ![]()
Hello everyone, After reading Game of Thrones, I've become infatuated with creating fighters who can train animals via the Handle Animal skill. Currently I have a riding dog named Calico who has been trained with the hunting skillset instead of the combat training skillset. Are there opportunities to train unconventional animals in PFS? Calico has been a good pet, but it would be neat to find and rear uncommon animals. It seems like there could be many opportunities to work this concept into PFS, whether by way of a boon in a Chronicle, or a static chart showing the prices of unconventional animals and the cost to purchase them. Thoughts? ![]()
Hopefully a few seats become available on Saturday night, because I just went to purchase an event ticket and there are none to be had. I'm a bit leery to buy general tickets...after all, what is the likelihood of someone buying a six dollar event ticket and then not even showing up for the game? Certainly those types exist, but I'd imagine the stand-in line will be much, much longer... ![]()
Roleplaying can't exist without flavor text, and I wouldn't imagine these rules presume to take that position. Although reskinning may be illegal according to the rules as written, remember that the rules simply give players a common vantage into the way the game is designed to be played. If anything, it is a rule that ensures players will always come down on the side of mechanical clarity if an issue arises. I've never played a single session without rules being inadvertantly bent, and this is no different. ![]()

Who's going to Gen Con? :-) This will be my first year attending Gen Con, and I'm also relatively new to PFS, though I've been gaming for decades to include the RPGA. I have a few questions regarding the way PFS modules will be run at Gen Con... 1) Tickets are expensive. Does it have to be that way? 2) How do I sign up to play in different modules? 3) Does signing up for PFS modules cost extra money? 4) Will there be open slots for players who arrive on Saturday and Sunday, or is it usually entirely full? 5) Thanks :-) any other tips you might have for me??? |
