I also applied just now for the vigil based on the vast uncertainty of the crusaders. If he comes back and the guild actually becomes active, then I think there should maybe be talks of merging or whatever.

I have a bit of experience handling medieval weapons, and I would say that greatsword and polearm are similar enough that I think that a lot of the feats should be more or less transferable.

Honestly, I think a lot of the specializations and such should be more geared towards weapon groups (polearms/spear, 2h swords, mace/club, 1h slashing (such as scimitars), 1h piercing(such as rapiers/shortswords), 1h piercing/slashing (such as bastard swords and long swords or other cut-and-thrust weapons)

I am currently GM'ing a homebrew campaign. I have a level 11 fighter that just purchased a Giant Owl pet, whom he had battle trained. He is now training it as a mount. He has only one rank in ride, so he wanted to ditch his ring of protection and pick up a "ring of riding +5". I told him that it didnt exist. He swears it's legit. He says there are rings for every other skill so why not ride. I reasoned it that there are spells for those skills but not ride. He is so butthurt about it so he got me to open it up to the forum.

So here is the question at hand.

Should a ring of riding be allowed, and if so what plus should it give, and about what price.

There is also a saddle that gives +5 to ride (and maybe a secondary bonus). I think it's saddle of horse mastery or somesuch. No reason why a version of that can't be used on an owl.

Could it be in the Kingmaker books?

You could have it's chest cavity open up some gapin maw like thing, and just stuff them inside for the swallow whole ability.

If you want it to be deadly without needing cross-class levels, you can put a very nasty poison on it.

I'm fine for 'skimpy' armors, but I also agree that you shouldn't get a full-plate bonus for it if it were advertised as 'full-plate'.

I do think that it being enchanted with a deflection bonus or whatever is definitely feasible - same as mages can do with their robes.

Why not have a small penalty for not having eaten (say -2 con, or a variable number of penalties depending on the level of hunger, such as perception, willpower, etc), but all foods reduce hunger, but depending on the type of food, when 'full', it will also give a certain boost (such as 5% travel speed, or +2 con or perception or whatever, depending on the meal)

I would like to add my arcane skills to your cause, Tarondor.

Depending on naming conventions, my character's name is Jertulth B'naa, NG Wizard.

It sounds like this weapon can pretty much do 'Burning Hands' at will; I would go with 'as a full-round action, the wielder can invoke the blade beam ability...' and add some descriptive text around that, as per the Burning Hands spell (which is 15ft), and give it a limited times per day. Perhaps adjust the damage dice a bit higher or allow the strength bonus to damage.

I think invoking it as an attack action could net a fighter quite the damage output with multiple attacks and could be a bit imbalanced (yeah, I know it's an artifact)

I wish I'd have been able to get on it a bit earlier...missed out on a couple of items that I think would be really neat.

If this was implemented, it'd be nice to have a /squelch option for just those kinds of occurrences. (and maybe a /squelchAndReport)
