Aaron looks over his new compainions, "Well, I can't make a living sitting in here. Let's go find us some adventure, and hopefully some treasure. I do need to pick up a healing potion or two before we start."

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Aaron arrives back in the tavern, a bit disappointed with his first adventure. It left much more questions than answers and much fewer glories and treasures than he envisioned. However, his confidence as a party member had grown significantly. He and his companion had managed to avoid the massive hail storm, kill off a significant amount of kobolds and make some discoveries in the very strange lab. Leaving Rumble outside to watch over his gear, Aaron starts looking for another party, one that may venture back to the lab or some new exotic place.
Aaron makes his way back to the bar, slightly more comfortable than his last, and listens for conversations from other travelers that may pose an interest to him.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

"Well one more experiment before we leave," Aaron says. "Might want to stand back with this one." He waits until it the room is cleared and backs up to the above room. He given Rumble his struck around it sunrod. He raps some cloth around it and makes sure it is on fire. "Well buddy," Aaron says to Rumble "Let's see if it is flamable. If I don't see you till tomorrow, sorry.

"very Funny," Rumble says as he picks up the makeshift torch "Be right back" Rumble proceeds to the shaft and throws the fire down the shaft. He listens for hit to hit the slie at the bottom and then peers over to watch it.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

"Well, it is more than just on the surface and it seems to be pretty thick. Let's see if we can get a sample." With that, Aaron and Rumble go about gatherig up a few items fro the above lab. They attach a weighted schackle to a rope and add a container to it. Casting light on the container, they lower it down the shaft. They wait until the light disapears and then begin pulling it back up.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Not hearing any other ideas, Rumble and Aaron set out to do some examinatin of the black ooze at the bottom of the shaft. Aaron gose up to the labratory and finds one of the heavy shackles. Casting light on it, he throws it down the shaft listening for how long it takes to hit and noticing if the ooze is effected in any way. The light should give them a better picture of what is at the bottom of the shaft.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Rumble comes back to the group. ” So this is what I see. Round shaft about 20’ across. Goes down about as far as I can see and ends in a black pool of goo. Can’t tell how deep it is our even what it’s made of. There are some hooks in the wall where a rope or something may have been attached. I don’t fancy goin’ down in the muck before I know what we are gettin’ into.”

Aaron nods to his compainion in agreement. ” I guess we could tie something to a rope, cast light on it and lower down the shaft. Make sure it is heavy so it will sink through a thick fluid. See if it reacts with the light. It could warn something that we are coming but I, like Rumble, would like to have an idea what we will be standing in down there. Maybe we could even get up a sample and see what it is.”

Aaron looks to the rest of the group. “Anybody have any other ideas?”

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Rumble, curious as to the nature of such a place, extends his head slightly to get a good look up and down the shaft. He is curious as to other access there might be, or an obvious way up or down such as a ladder or hand holds. [i] How deep does this shaft go, and what could its purpose be? [i] he thinks to himself.

"Stand back and let me look." Rumble, least effected by the stench, looks through the slit to see if anything is on the other side. Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

If he does not see anything on the other side

"Don't see anything, going to open this smelly mess up. Standback and prepare incase I missed something. Something left these bloodstains on the wall." Rumble braces to open the door. Aaron a few feet back has out his bow.

Rumble Fort 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Aaron Fort 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Aaron watches Amarandlon open the slide, as curious as the elf to find what is on the other side, when the strong smell hit him in punch to the sternum. His guts heaved, his trail ratiions threatening to spill over his shoes. He looked for a small bit of cloth to shove up his nose to help dampen the smell.

Rumble, standing nearby, also was hit by the stench, but his time of being the willful scout for Aaron had put this creature in situtations that helped it endure it, if only just barely. Rumble wondered what could be on the other side to cause such a foul oder.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Rumble relates to Aaron, All clear down here as far as I can see. Feels a little humid. There are some spots on the wall, a door, looks metal. Won’t know more till you get down here with a little light.
Aaron relates this information to the party members. “Small room, humid with spots on the wall. One metal door. Nothing humanoid down there.”
Aaron proceeds down the spiral staircase, short spear in one hand and a sun rod in the other. Rumble sees his world turn from a black and white to a more colored palate. With the added light it is much easier to examine this new room. Rumble and Aaron look closely the splotches careful not to touch or disturb them in case the humidity has created mold or fungus. They move slowly and carefully and end up examining the metal door.

" Well, not as much kobod activity here and I got some sort of huminoid tracks here," Ruble relates. "I'm gonna check out the stairs. Be ready to get me out of trouble if I call."

Rumble proceeds slowly and stealthy down stairs. Aaron readys an action to dismiss Rumble if he cries Help.

Aaron acknowleges the arrival of Ax, he seemed to handle the brigdge much better than Jar'kel. " Well Ax, don't know what was going on here but looks more complicated than what some of those lizard folk would be doing. You see anything useful here?" Aaron continues to look around awaiting the rest of the party.

Rumble too was beginning to wonder if they had hooked onto the right group of adventuerers. Granted, he and Aaron were a bit novice on this but, Ax’s flailing around in combat and Jar’kel’s reaction to this measly bridge was giving him pause. Aaron and he had, for the most part taken on half of this small hoard, even scaring one to jump to its death. Rumble investigates the torture room he finds himself in lloking for anything of use or things that may give him a clue as to the maker or use of this structure. He wanders through the room slowly approaching the stairs in the southeast corner.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 . He relays his information to Aaron mentally in a mixture of Ignan, common, and Azlanti. Rumble tends to mix up languages grabbing the one he thinks best meets the scene he is seeing.
Aaron relays the information to the rest of the group.

“Rumble says the bridge is safe but rickety. Just try not to look down too much and watch out for the loose and rotting boards. He hasn’t found much over there. Just another room overlooking this gorge. It’s got tables and surgical tools, some torturous, chains and manacles. Don’t know what they were doing there, but we may have an idea what type of “experiments” they were doing here. There is a staircase in the southeast corner and he is going to investigate. I’m going to go over and see if there is anything we can use. Manacles may come in handy if we want to capture or question one of these lizards next time. “
With that he starts across the bridge Will 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19.
Following Rumble's instructions he easily makes it across.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Aaron looks at Fox with a bit of disbelief. He was beginning to wonder if this was the right man to follow. Jack had invited him on an investigation of a gully with rooms on the side but did not bring a source of light; he could not remember Aaron’s name, and now, while Aaron is standing in front of him, short spear in one hand and a recently struck sun rod in the other, and Fox is asking if he has a lantern. Is this man addle minded?

“Here, you can have this. I just struck it so it will be good for 6 hours. I can use this, and with that he throws a light spell on his gauntlet. If we spread out a bit we can keep the place lit enough to see. Hopefully the other have brought something as well.

Rumble, who can see in the dark, starts across the bridge. Will save 1d20 ⇒ 20 to see what he can on the other side.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Watching the kobold plunge to its death, the eagle returns to Aaron and perches on his shoulder. Aaron and Rumble meet up. It takes about 30 seconds before the eagle just disappears. Aaron grabs his large tooth comb and straightens Rumbles mane. Aaron also takes the time to remove the kobold bits and pieces from rumbles mouth. “ Great job there Rumble, I think you took out half of them.” Rumble and Aaron go back to examine the corpses of the dead kobolds.

Perception Rumble 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Perception Aaron 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 The are looking for anything useful or any clue about the nature of this place.

Aaron looks to fox while doing his examination. "Fox, seems like you could speak some of that forked tongue language. What was all of that noise they were making?"

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Rumble, standing not far from Jackson and Jar'kel says in his low gravel voice,"It's one of Aaron's. In addition to getting me here, he can grab a few animals. They don't stay around long, but they come in handy during a fight." Rumble waits to see what the remaining kolbold does.

The mighty eagle takes on its new fow with a visous series of attacks. It blocks the pathway of the creatures on the bridge and presses the attack.

Talon 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 >> 1d4 ⇒ 3

If the kobold is dead the eagle will fly forward 5', else he will remain blocking the path of the advancing kolbolds.

Even though he has on armor Aaron leaps across the half wall. Acrobatics 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10 He slips a little but makes it without pause. He head south along the west wall and then turns east. Standing in front of the new kolbold he attacks with his short spear. 1d20 ⇒ 2 >> 1d6 ⇒ 3 He is obviously a bit distracted from all of the activity.

Rumble procedes due east jumping over the half wall. Acrobatics 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Clearing it easily, he comes to stop 10' east of Jar'kel and 10' north of the flanking kolbold. (double move) A reminder that Rumble has a 5' Reach on bite so threatens within 10' for AoO.

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Can you go over or through the half wall or do you need to go around?

M Human Summoner/1 Hp 9 AC 15, t 12, ff13

Rumble takes a five foot step to the east, confident he can take one more of these dragon creatures, and executes his full attack.

if the kobold is still alive he will get an AoO on the eagle. If the eagle is still alive it will do the following assuming that the half wall is able to flown over and that there is no saving throw for the bridge for a flying creature.

The eagle having dispached its first foe flies east to confront the newly emerging kobolds and stops in front of the first one 10' onto the bridge and tries to bite the kobold.
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 >> 1d4 ⇒ 3

Aaron emerges from the stairway and seeing that more ceatures are on their way moves to the half wall, double move, assured that Rumble will be right behind him as soon as the kobold is dispatched.

Aaron feels the adrenaline rush from his companion. There is a quite a crowd gathered near the door and it would be hard for Aaron to get through and be effective. He takes one step to the west and calls forth an eagle which immediately appears 10 feet to the east of Rumble flanking his enemy. He then waits to see if the way will clear.

The eagle attacks
Bite 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 2 = 17 Damage 1d4 ⇒ 2
Talon 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 = 16 Damage 1d4 ⇒ 4
Talon 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6 Damage 1d4 ⇒ 1

Rumble sees the eagle appear in front of him, a common occurrence in most of his battles. The distraction provided by his masters tiny beasts provides a substantial advantage. With the fresh blood of the first kobold still warm and dripping from his sharp teeth he eyes the foes in front of him. The slight prick from the spear brings the battle in focus. Again utilizing all of his offensive skills,
Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Claw 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Claw 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Rumble is at the bottom of the stairs ready for a battle. The opportunity for surprise and subtlety gone, he tries to open the door and attack the small green reptilian men.

If the door is blocked by the kobolds he will try to force it open and Aaron will try to assist.

Aaron thinks back his agreement and watches Rumble disappear into the room. "Rumble says there were 3 kobolds in there that scattered down stairs when the door opened, " he explains to his elven companion. “I’m following him in and see if we can learn anything about this underground place. Looks like we may have to exterminate some the vermin around here. “

Giving Rumble a few seconds to look in the room, Aaron follow in, activating his sunrod by striking it to the floor. The room illuminates with the light of the rod. Aaron steps closer to Rumble and starts to look around as well. Somehow the comfort of his companion close by and the somewhat sharing of thoughts always lets him see things a bit clearer. Aaron follows Rumble close by. Ready to charge his sunrod if necessary but waiting until Rumble has a chance to open the door and peer inside. He repeats the code word mentally to Rumble. The group is splitting in two. If we meet up the code word is "carry a kuluna" or something... It's elvish. Amarandlon will be with us so hopeful he will be in position to say it. Anything further down there?

Aaron looks to Ararandlon, Rumble says the path is dark down to the door. Only light coming from this enterance. I'll need a sunrod or other light source when we go down there.

Having easily opened the trap door Rumble peeks down the hole.

His voice is low sounds like the tail end of a large tunderclap; it is clear that this is his namesake. He says in common, "Stairs leading down about 10' with a doorway at the bottom.

His mental voice doubling in Aaron's head he continues. Goin' to poke my neck in a little farther and see what we can see. Good thing I see in the dark

With that he lays near the ground an scopes his head another 5 feet making him look more like one of the animal experiments Fox had hinted about and less like a wolf/lion.

Aaron approaches just behind Rumble with his short spear in hand. He reaches into his pack for a sunrod in case he desides to enter.

Aaron looked at Fox seeing if his reference to bad lab experiments or three headed monkies is a slight to his unconventional companion. Aaron remembered his own experiments calling beast after beast until he found the form that best suited him. While not a monkey, there were several that had more than one head and looked like experiments gone wrong. He had had rumble for about a year and it was his confidence in his companion and their bond that had given Aaron the courage and confidence to strike out on his own. The argument with his father solidified the decision. It didn’t seem like Jack was trying to insult him or Rumble, but he felt tension from Jack every time he spoke to him.

It could be that he is just trying to assert himself as the leader of this newly banded group Aaron thought to himself. Well were here now, best make the best of it. Seems like Ax has done the most to support the group. We should pay attention to him and maybe learn a few more tricks.

I could send Rumble down to investigate. He can easily see in the dark and if things are going badly I can dismiss him. He can relate to me, or us if we are not trying to be stealthy, what he sees.

A low growl echoes in Aaron’s head “Always the canary in the mine… You know getting sent back to the planes unexpectedly is not the best feeling he says in a nearly pouting voice. Brightening with a slight edge and grin in his voice but you know I love a challenge. Hehe

With that Rumble goes right down and investigates the door. Perception= 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Aaron looks at the first interesting place that they have found since this journey began. He was torn by this development, glad he was able to learn a bit more about his traveling companions but somewhat disappointed that the “grand adventure” started off so slow. The only real excitement came from the freak weather storm. Aaron was fortunate that he had picked a place to sleep that provided a bit of coverage while he slept that night and that Rumble was dismissed at the time. The unexpected nature of the storm made Aaron realize there were many more dangers than just the monsters that lurk there. Aaron started to wonder if they should have brought a cleric, especially since he could not afford any healing potions right now. His mind returns to the current situation and the large gully in front of them.

Arron moves closer to Ax and Fox “Looks like anyone could easily been seen approaching the gully since the trees are so far back from the edge. There is also a most welcoming, and obvious, path down. I am a little suspicious. Any ideas what could be down there? I’ll have rumble look for any tracks nearby.”

Rumble stay close to the tree lie where I can see you. Look for any tracks or signs to see what dangers may be in front of us. I’ll keep an eye on you and dismiss if anything goes wrong.

Rumble patrols along the forest line about 50’ either side of where the party entered the clearing making sure he is in sight of Aaron as he goes. Aaron watches Rumble prepared to dismiss his companion if unexpected trouble arises.

It makes sense to me that we split the general findings equally and distribute any special items to those who either want them or can best use them, but I would like to make on caveat to the historical artifacts. I have a keen interest in all things Azlanti he widens his purple eyes slightly as he talks. So in the unlikely instance that we come across some, I'd like to be able to take a closer look at it.

I was thinking of the same based on the rules andt terrain, it would be a rest about every 6 or 9 hours. Obviously if we have an encounter or some other discovery this would change. That would make our trail rations last the trip, unless i misunderstood the traveling rules.

Somewhat true. There are still those that claim to be of Azlanti blood although not pure. There are also scholars that study this ancient tongue although it is only from discovered documents. So I like to think of Azlanti being more like Acient Middle eastern languages that we only have written records of. Aaron listens closely to his new found companions as they discuss the party’s route. “I know Ax said we should all have our ‘say so’ but I have little to add to this. Seems without good knowledge of the geography any way is as good as any others. I’m up to picking a direction and goin’ letting the lay of the land and what we find on the way dictate our best direction. Whatever we decide, I would like to time our arrival so that we have as much daylight as possible to explore. I don’t see at night as well as you with elven blood and I don’t want to miss a thing.”

I can be your eyes at night, Rumble states in Aaron’s head.

Fine for surveillance my fruend, not so much for combat. Aaron replies mid conversation.

”Plans are always bound to change. It’s the knowledge we gather on the way will best help us profit from it.” Aaron stops abruptly, surprised that he sounded so much like the father he was trying to leave behind.

Aaron returns from his short errands to the tavern noting there is no one waiting outside. A slight panic arose as he worried the others had left without him. He drops his pack next to Rumble. Here watch this, I’ll check inside Aaron arrives inside as Fox is talking…

“…..there's quite a bit more explorin' we could do even aft'r completin' our objective f'r this expedition. I may be leadin' this party, but evr'y man, woman, elf, half-elf, half-orc, fairy drag'n an' eldritch 'bomination that may be involv'd gets a say-so, 's far as I'm concern'd,” he heard him finish.

They’re in here, he says to Rumble, sounds like we’ll be movin’ off soon. Aaron leans in close trying ot to miss anything else.

My character will let the experienced trackers determine the direction we will be going. I have 14 days of food. My edilon is dismissed while I sleep, but when awake gives two of us on watch at night. He has darkvison and we can communicate mentaly. His movement speed is 40 and is somewhat stealthy. I would envision him prowling on the perimeter while I sat closer to camp. Place me where you want in the order.

"Well met Ax." Aaron says standing. "Slept well as ever. This is my companion Rumble." Aaron introduces Ax to his edilon. A four footed beast resembling a cross between a wolf and a lion. Standing at about three and a half feet at the shoulders,, it had a proturing snout filled with sharp pointed teeth, a brownish colored mane covered a unusually long neck that moved about almost serpentine in nature, long dark mostly retracted claws were visible on the front set of paws, an intelligence could clearly be seen in its greenish eyes.

Aaron sees his other adventurers packing more food and making final preparations. It looked like the are we were going was only a day or so away... with what we could find on the trail 4 rations should have been enough to carry us through he thought to Rumble. I guess a few more wouldn't hurt.

[b] I got a few more thig\ngs to pick up too. See you back here.

Like to purchase 10 more days of rations 5gp and 6 sunrods for 12 gp.

Having heard ending the ending speech by Fox, Aaron spends the next hours trying to find out more information about the area outside of this town, especially to the east. He takes a couple of looks at the bounty poster noting the name and any particulars. He leaves the inn going back toward the stables. Here, nestled around his pack and gear, is his companion Rumble.
“Well Rumble, I guess you heard we are leaving in the morning.” He picks up his shortspear and shoulders his pack. I’ll call you a few minutes before we leave. This inn looks safe enough. Wish we had a few more coins but we took what we could.”

Rumble replies in a low growling common; his voice echoing in the summoner’s head, “could of grabbed a bit more but they might be followin’ then. Just a little luck we get plenty, then we go back.”

Aaron smiles at that,” I’m in no hurry to make that journey. See you in the morning.”

With that he dismisses his edilon and heads back to the inn. He grabs some bread, cheese and few pieces of fruit before heading off to his room doubting the kitchen will be open when they leave in the morning.
Excited about the adventure he is about to embark he spends an hour before bed going over his gear, tightening every strap, sharpening the tips of his spears, and inspecting his sparse pack for the third time. Satisfied with their condition he lies down for a restless night’s sleep.

Getting up an hour before dawn, Aaron eats his stored breakfast, dons his armor, and straitens his gear. He walks outside, moves to the corner of the building, and takes a minute to call Rumble back to his side. When he appears, Aaron brushes the long hair around Rumble’s head attempting to make him as presentable as possible. That done he sits on a log outside of the inn with the sun just starting to brightenthe horizon, Rumble next to him, waiting for his new acquired “friends” to appear, anticipating the adventure that awaits.

Looks like we just need to list our group going out and wait for the call. GM said 2-4. Looks like we are currently 5.

Aaron, Fox, Ax, Jar'Kel, and Amarandlon, in no appearent order. I'm ready when the call comes.

Aaron approaches his companions, ”I’m ready to start anytime, but a bit more information would be useful. It might be handy to know if we will be fighting the weather as well as anything we encounter. I’ll let you talk to the inn keeper; I doubt we all need to be there; and I will work the crowd to see if I can find anything there. Meet you back here in a few with whatever I find. We can compare notes and come up with a plan for morning.“
With that, he picks up his mug of ale, sploshing a little on the floor to make it look like he actually drank some of it. I know I can talk better than most but my inexperience may show, maybe I can find that bit of information that we need. He thinks to himself.

Upon completion of conversation with his new group, Aaron will work the crowd trying to find out information about the area such as potential dangers, rumors of adventuring opportunities, local gossip, and weather. Gather Knowledge (Diplomacy) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Aaron, I just wanted to let you know that we will not be chasing the bounty. From your character's internal thoughts, it seemed that you thought we would be, so I wanted to clarify.

Yep, got that. Somehow left a line out of the reply saying that he was so excited about the new adventure that he did not pay close attention the the words that were being said.

Aaron welcomed the abrupt introduction by “Fox” because he was uncertain how he was going to go about finding the new path he had chosen and he did not really want to try the ale that he ordered, seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

A bounty, no that seems like just the thing to cut my teeth on he thought to himself. Plus hanging out with some elves and what could be experienced adventurers could be a valuable learning experience He stood up to his full 6’3” height and moved toward the speaker.

He consciously lowered the register of his voice slightly before saying, ”I would be interested in a little adventure if you don’t mind my dog coming along. He is more of a scraper than a tracker but he helps in a pinch. He’s waiting out back looking over my gear, so I am ready to go when you are. Name’s Aaron”

As he finished his introduction Aaron through that his speech had rambled on a bit and that maybe he didn’t keep that lower tone the whole way through. I’m going to screw this up before I even start Aaron placed a pleasant smile on his face trying to charm his way through.
