Axcayacatl |
Ax pulls a chair to Jackson's table, leans back and says "It seems we have a good wait in front of us. I heard the barman might be able to get us a good sword to go with us but he would be expecting to share in the spoils as if he wasn't a tavern hireling. How do you feel about that?" Ax looks down to his boots and sees a scorpion crowling nearby. He steps on it with the heel of his boot.

Gimlet - do you want to say you have been with our party all along? That works for us... or you can go out with Ax and Jackson, your choice we are in http://paizo.com/campaigns/EternalHorizonsGameplayThread1 if you want to join us
Jackson Fox |
"Well, I've no issue with him wantin' a share o' th' loot, but I don' wanna be respons'ble f'r gettin' the barkeep's kid killed. Townies aren't usually much good with this sor' thing; if they were, I wouldn' be here and there'd be no adventure worth havin'! No, I think we're better off waitin' f'r some talent. If we get too bored, we could always stay within close dist'nce o' th' town til' som'ne else shows up. I plan t' map th' whole region anyway, an' I've gotta be startin' somewhere aft'r all. In fact, I think I'll start w'th this here tavern!" Swinging his legs off the table, Jackson retrieves some supplies from his pack and sets to making a map of the tavern.
Axcayacatl |
Ax wakes up and stands up while picking up his stuff. He turned to Jackson and said " I ll take a walk around town and get some stuff. I' ll be back later... Hope somebody walks in. I need to start doing something and get some gold comming my way " He walks to the door and looks to the bartender and says " Can I use the cot again tonight?"
Amarandlon II |
As Axcayacatl leave a male elf walks past him towards the owner. The elf is a couple of inches short of 6 ft and thin clad in olive coloured cloth and wearing a scale mail. His black hair hangs freely ending two inches below his shoulders. His pale skin is in contrast to his blue eyes.
In common with an elvish accent he asks the owner: "Proprietor, is this the establishment, where I might find an expedition set for the eternal horizons?
Axcayacatl |
After a while Ax waks back into the tavern. He looks around and sees a new face. He walks over and asks " Hi there. My name is Axcayacatl. From what I can see you are looking for some outdoors activity of the dangerous type that can provide some yellow metal. That guy over there, his name is Jackson, and myself are looking for companions in an errand of thatbsort. Interested?" Ax calls the bar tender and asks for a beer and a dish of beans.
Jackson Fox |
Given the nature of the game, I would normally be hesitant to leave without a fourth because I'd hate for somebody else to miss out, but I'm itching to get started, there's been a few other applicants who seem to have characters but haven't jumped in yet, and the other groups sound like they'll be returning soon, based on their activities in the Discussion thread.
Taking note of the activity by the bar, Jackson packs up his half-finished map and approaches. "So Ax, looks like you found us a third sword. I'm Jackson Fox, but y'can call me Jack."
Axcayacatl |
"Good to meet you Amarandlon" says Ax, and adds "We can go out later today, at twilight, or wait till dawn tomorrow. Cots here are not confortable, but at least they are clean and flea free". And turning toward Jackson, he says Jack, Do you think we can get a fourth companion from one of the groups that left earlier? I heard in town that they were not getting along well. What are your thoughts Amarandlon".
Jar'Kel |
Jar'kel walks through the door of the Tavern, dressed in Studded leather that's been dyed in splotches of green and brown with a matching hooded leather cloak. Stepping to the side of the doorway he waits a few minutes for his eyes to adjust to the dim interior before walking up to the bar. He nods to each of the Gentlemen drinking across the room, before calling for the barman. A pint, and a shot of whatever you have that will pass for whisky, if you please bartender.
Aaron Callforth |
A young man, nearly a boy, enters the bar; eyes adjusting to the light scan the room. More bones than muscle, his clothing drapes on his thin frame, his stride long and confident, a mace bouncing slightly off his hit in rhythm with his gate. He appears to be moving with a purpose trying to hide his discomfort of his surroundings. He makes his way to the bar. “A glass of ale please,” Aaron manages to get out hoping the bartender does not ask what kind. “I heard this is the place to find adventure. Hear of any groups going out?” He asks the barkeep, the sound of young eagerness in his voice.
Axcayacatl |
Ax looks at the newcomer from his chair, at the far end table. He scratches his face in a clear sign of fatigue. He is hesitant to approach this new adeventurer. He awaits for others to start a conversation. He is adh to leave, as soon as a group is asambled. Jack seems to be napping, he thinks. " bartender... Do you have a cheaper beer?" , he callas
Jackson Fox |
Jack strokes his stubbly beard, thinking things over as newcomers seem to pour in. "Well Ax," he says, clapping the half-elf on the shoulder, "looks like we're in bus'ness." Jack steps onto a chair and rests a leg on the table. "Alright newcomers, list'n up! Messers Ax, Amarandlon, an' Fox, which is t'say him, him, and him," he says, pointing at each of them in turn, and lastly at himself, "are recruiting for and adventurin' expedition. You may've heard there's a boun'y or somesuch to be had. If that's your interest, I suggest findin' some like-minded companions, an' y'best be quick 'bout it, 'cause there's two other groups after that same boun'y an' they've got at least a couple days' head start on y'all. If you find y'rself less inclined toward self-righteous vig'lante justice, we'll be happy t'take y'on. Myself and the aforementioned elves will be setting out soon on a journey to explore and map what lies beyond th' borders o' this miserable little frontier village, whose only concession to civilization is this fine establishment we find ourselves encamped in at the moment. So, anybody who's hungry f'r some adventure, step right up an' let y'rself be known."
Aaron Callforth |
Aaron welcomed the abrupt introduction by “Fox” because he was uncertain how he was going to go about finding the new path he had chosen and he did not really want to try the ale that he ordered, seemed like the right thing to do at the time.
A bounty, no that seems like just the thing to cut my teeth on he thought to himself. Plus hanging out with some elves and what could be experienced adventurers could be a valuable learning experience He stood up to his full 6’3” height and moved toward the speaker.
He consciously lowered the register of his voice slightly before saying, ”I would be interested in a little adventure if you don’t mind my dog coming along. He is more of a scraper than a tracker but he helps in a pinch. He’s waiting out back looking over my gear, so I am ready to go when you are. Name’s Aaron”
As he finished his introduction Aaron through that his speech had rambled on a bit and that maybe he didn’t keep that lower tone the whole way through. I’m going to screw this up before I even start Aaron placed a pleasant smile on his face trying to charm his way through.
Jar'Kel |
"Well met Ax". Turning and offering his hand to the stranger, Jar'Kel takes a minuet to look the man over.
Seems a little caged up.
"Not from any place particular friend. As for tired, well that's nothin a cool drink and a few minuets out of the sun wont cure".
Axcayacatl |
"So ... It seems we are in bussiness " , saya Ax. " I'm ready. We need a hearty meal, and off we go." Ax moves around the common room and shakes the hand of all agreed members of the team. " Do we need any particular supplies? Has anybody had a ggod conversatiln with the inn keeper as to what perils he has heard are outthere?"
Amarandlon II |
"To my knowledge none has talked with the innkeeper. As to supplies, I am not sure off the climate where our journey may take us?" Aarandlon answers.
He walks to Jar'Kel and Aaron in turn and shakes their hands: "Welcome to this journey fellow companions." He turns to Axcayacatl: "Would it be reasonable to set out tomorrow after a most nutritious breakfast?"
Aaron Callforth |
Aaron approaches his companions, ”I’m ready to start anytime, but a bit more information would be useful. It might be handy to know if we will be fighting the weather as well as anything we encounter. I’ll let you talk to the inn keeper; I doubt we all need to be there; and I will work the crowd to see if I can find anything there. Meet you back here in a few with whatever I find. We can compare notes and come up with a plan for morning.“
With that, he picks up his mug of ale, sploshing a little on the floor to make it look like he actually drank some of it. I know I can talk better than most but my inexperience may show, maybe I can find that bit of information that we need. He thinks to himself.
Upon completion of conversation with his new group, Aaron will work the crowd trying to find out information about the area such as potential dangers, rumors of adventuring opportunities, local gossip, and weather. Gather Knowledge (Diplomacy) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Jackson Fox |
Satisfied with the turnout, Jack nods to himself and silently thanks whatever gods may be out there that they could finally get started. Walking over to the map on the wall, he announces, "Our good friend th' bartender has already provided us with enough information to get started. Gentlemen, our mission is to map and explore the wilds. I only remind you so that you may know that, no matter what, we always have a goal t' be workin' t'ward. It's my belief that a man must always have goals, plans, designs, plots, or whatev'r else keeps 'im goin'. That bein' said, our destination lies dead west, t' the X on this here map. Shouldn' be more than a few days o' travel in total. Take whatever's left o' th' day to get what y' need gath'rd. We leave at dawn."
Jar'Kel |
Downing his shot like water, Jar'Kel picks up his pint of Ale and heads over to the map that Fox had just finished referring to. After studying the map for awhile he retrieves a sheet of parchment along with a vial of ink and a pen from the map case strapped to his belt. After quickly copying the map and stowing his ink and pen he rejoins the group.
"Seems to me were lookin at little over a day and a half's journey. It'd be wise to bring food for a week and mayhap a mule.
Rosa Luminass |
The doors open and stooping to get her 8,2" frame in Rosa enters the Inn, she straitens up and looks around slowly to see if any one may give her some trouble, seeing no one she moves to a table, she stops and say behind her, "Follow" A goblin came's in and moves to her side looking around "sit here, use the chair, in-keep a weak beer and a good wine, I will need two rooms for tonight and space in the stable for to like this. Heat some water I wish a bath and food bring us meat cooked"
She pulls out a note book and writes some thing, getting up she moves to the note wall and pins to it this.

The One Called Nemesis |
A large man walks into the tavern, his cloak covering his face, joined by an equally covered companion. A sickly sweet smell wafts from him. He sneers at the patrons and turns around to his companion
"You will wait outside, this place has the stench of goodness upon it. Best keep yourself covered. We want to avoid any... complications... for now" His companion lets loose a rattled hiss as his answer and walks back out the front door.
The man orders a drink from the bar, he reads the notes about the bounty and about the red hand, he chuckles at the last. He finds an empty booth and settles in.
"It will be a long wait... but well worth it."
The One Called Nemesis |
The man sits and waits in his booth, nursing his drink until dusk hits. He gets up from his booth and walks outside. He summons Hatred to his side.
"Come on, lets see what this place has to offer in the way of new friends"
The man called Nemesis walks to the edge of town and begins to search for evidence of undeath.
Gaius Vekkhar |
A little shameless self promotion. I'm recruiting for a new PBP game here. It's a sci-fi game using Pathfinder rules with a homebrew class system.
The One Called Nemesis |
Nemesis walks back into the tavern, after having spent a few weeks in the wild. He looks rather disheveled from his time in the wilderness. He walks up to the bartender.
"I require lodgings and somewhere to bathe, my companion can bunk with me" He geastures to Hatred who is currently wrapped up to hide his appearance.
The One Called Nemesis |
After becoming refreshed, Nemesis sits and waits in the tavern for awhile, see if any other would-be adventurers show up. Instead of dismissing his companion to wait outside, he keeps him by his side.
After a long time has passed, Nemesis gets up from his spot, gestures for his companion to follow and heads back out to the outskirts of town.
"Well my friend, lets try heading East this time and see what we can find"
The One Called Nemesis |
Nemesis strolls into the bar with his companion in toe. He removes a branch from his hair and various leafs before drawing his hood back up. He finds a booth before sitting down. He grabs out some paper and ink from his pack and scrolls a quick message.

He folds up the note so that people can read it as they walk in.
He commands his companion to sit.
Fionnbharanel |
Finn walks into the tavern, tired and road weary, after having trod over to the city guard with her companions to turn in their prisoner. She sighs with a mix of resigned fatigue and simple exhaustion as she climbs up onto a barstool. "Bartender, a mug of your best ale please, and a round for my companions as well when they arrive."
Fionnbharanel |
Ira and Tensen haven't posted in a while, not sure if they are still with us or not. I assume since Chuffy and Gimlet have both posted that they are still with me for at least our trip back to town. Dunno about the bigfolk.
Gimlet Bravo |
Gimlet helps his fellows march the outlaw into the tavern.
"Well done team. I am ready to drink, sing, sleep, and go out for more adventure in that exact order."
Gimlet Bravo |
Not to be picky, but Gimlet wants alignments without vowels in it. I know you don't pull any punches, but as long as Ira and Fi are with Gimlet, we can do great things. Chuffy really grew on me, I hope we see him again. As for a lion shaman, the ability to use a std action to summon lions is a great thing, some say too great. I really like my original group.
