Human Bard 2

Nice!
I'll take another level of bard.
Average HP (4 +1 for the level)
I also get Well Versed (Sense Motive)
and Versatile Performance
Plus more spells.

Human Bard 2

That was a though one. I am pleased to have such worthy companions. Aakim then starts inspecting the body of the pugwampi king. We must rid this sacred place from the corpes of these foul creatures. he says, and if he sees no danger incoming, he will start gathering the dead bodies and bring them outside of the monastery, to set up some sort of pire.

Human Bard 2

I'm having connection issues so if I delay my posts too much NPC me.

Human Bard 2

That didn't work out...
Aakim casts flare (DC 13) on the gnoll while he keeps singing.

Human Bard 2

Aakim, seeing his companion still cursed by the bad luck, tries to concentrate his singing even more. A powerful scream suddenly erupts, aimed at the gnoll.
Casting ear piercing scream, DC 14, damage 1d6 ⇒ 2 sonic damage and dazed condition for 1 round, Fort halves damage and cancels the dazed condition. I also Inspire Courage for 1 more round.

Human Bard 2

Aakim will keep singing, watching out if anything else comes from behind the group.
Spending another round of Insipire courage, and I turn my back to the fight so I can see if something tries to flank us.

Human Bard 2

Already declared my actions

Human Bard 2

Inititative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
The following round Aakim will pull out his whip and start throat singing.
Remember to apply the Inspire courage buff

Human Bard 2

Mmmm... Desert vulture eggs might be worth a handful of coppers from a merchant.I there a way to reach the nest without resorting to climbing?

Human Bard 2

The sacred grounds of Seranrae are no place for an oversized vulture. I can try to lead them away, but be ready to help me in case things turn for the worst. But first, I need to see this creature...
Aakim is ready to cast hypnotism on the vulture, but he needs a line of sight for the spell to have effect. Also, I'll try to use my Perform (snake charming) skill. Though the creature is not a snake, it shouldn't be too different, so GM applies the penalities as he sees fit.

Human Bard 2

I'll carry the bowl. Perhaps at the camp they will know more about its intended use. Aakim then follows Horgun as well.
Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Human Bard 2

I'll examine the blood, is it fresh?

Human Bard 2

I follow Hogurn as well. But why would the pugwampies feed nasty bloodsuckers almost as big as them?

Human Bard 2

Let me try something, Horgun.Aakim casts ghost sound , producing a loud bang inside the room with the intention of either scaring whatever's inside or to check if the room is actually empty of danger. Let's try to jump at them before they jump at us. If nothing moves after the noise, Aakim will go inside to check with the whip ready to strike.

Human Bard 2

I'll try again with History
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Pointing at the relief figure <Vardishal>, "This is the same creature from within the temple. It must be important for something. Is anyone familiar with these beings? "

Let's see if I am...

Knowlede (Planes) check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Human Bard 2

What a fascinating tale these carvings must hold...
Knowledge, History on the bas-relief:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Human Bard 2

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Aakim is too distracted by the discovery of an altar for the Dawnflower to see Chee snatching the stone. He bows deeply, and takes enough time to murmur an honest prayer. He is actually quite bothered by Horgun's words. You may not be happy about the fact that the sun shines on you each and every day, dwarf, but it does, and you should be thankful for that wheter you like it or not. This is a sacred place, and we shall give it due respect. He polishes the altar at the best he can, admiring its detail. He then takes a quick look at the sacred pages, and gathers them. I'll keep these if you don't mind. I'd like to bind this sacred text again and restore it to its former glory. Once he's finished, he gives the others a nod to let them know he's ready to move on with the exploration.

Human Bard 2

Annoying little beasts, these pugwampies says Aakim, with his whip still ready in case anything else moves. Shall we proceed? Which direction you suggest we should continue our exploration of the monastery?

Human Bard 2

Aakim stops singing and casts flare (DC 13) again on the pugwampi on the rafters.

Human Bard 2

Aakim keeps singing, trying to hit the injured creature on the ground with his whip. Perhaps a snap on the face will teach the nasty thing a lesson.
2d20 + 4 ⇒ (12, 3) + 4 = 192d3 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
No dice

Human Bard 2

Aakim keeps singing in a low, gravely tone, hoping to give the pugwampies a good scare. While taking out his whip, he casts flare at the closest pugwampi, hoping the sudden burst of light will disorient the creature and make it fall to the ground.

Human Bard 2

I'm out of town, can't post much, I'll take the rear and inspire courage if we fight. GM feel free to npc me for a while, I'll be back in 2d

Human Bard 2

I will certainly accept this task. I can't stand the thought of a Monastery of the Downflower left to the dust, the rats, or even worse. Thank you, my Lady, for giving me such an opportunity to honor Sarenrae.

Is that 400 xp for each, or do we have to split them in five?

Human Bard 2

Well, that wasn't exactly a display of martial prowess says Aakim, referring to the self-impaling critter. Let's go back to the camp before sunset.

Human Bard 2

Perception checks 2d20 + 1 ⇒ (15, 19) + 1 = 35Total: 16
Aakim sheats his rapier and readies his whip.

Human Bard 2

Aakim draws his rapier and starts using it as a makeshift machete to get some cacti out of his way. He moves very slowly, trying not to fall and to spot the goat.
Acrobacy check, if I can use Escape Artist I take 10 to the check instead and get a final result of 15.1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Perception1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Human Bard 2

Aakim bows. Thank you, fair lady. Then he addresses his new companions: Looks like we are in this hunt together. I hope we will be able to introduce ourselves a little better on the way there. And hopefully, we will be able to hear something more about this "Legacy od Fire" by Eloias himself, at our return. He gathers his few possessions, ready to leave.

Human Bard 2

As Horgun shows him the small tracks, Aakim says:Ah! There they are. I didn't find them the first time. So, you were saying that there were other suspects for this vile act?

He then follows the group to meet Almah. He bows at the sight of the lady, but let the others do the talking.

Human Bard 2

These desert rats you speak of... Could have they been able to set the fire? If they managed to snatch a goat, then they aren't your regular city rats, for sure...

Human Bard 2

I'm afraid that those cards you mentioned won't be able to predict anyone's future They are burnt, as the rest of the wagon. Aakim steps in the middle of the discussing men, bowing his head. I went to inspect it, looking for any clues that might be useful. If there were any, they are up in smoke now.
He pauses for a while, showing his left hand to the people there as a saluting gesture, in the fashion of the desert dwellers. My name is Aakim Al Kassam. I was born in Kelmarane, and joined the caravan to honor the memory of my ancestors who lived there.
As the Legacy of Fire gets mentioned, Aakim tries to remember if he heard tales about this before.
Knowledge: History check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Knowledge: Planes check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Human Bard 2

Aakim takes the money, but he's ready to give them back to their owner if he asks about them. Then he goes back to the camp, looking for the strange looking man he saw walking through the fire before. Perhaps he was able to see something Aakim missed while there, and a man that walks through a burning unscathed isn't something you see every day.

Human Bard 2

Aakim ignores the man, and continues looking. It's not like he's gonna disappear in the middle of the desert. I can look for him later.

Human Bard 2

Aakim will inspect the burnt remains of the wagon, hoping to find some sort of clue.
I take 20 to the check, spending as much time as necessary. Result is 21.

Human Bard 2

Aakim makes sure that the animals are safe and calm, then joins the firefighters as well.

Human Bard 2

Aakim, experienced in charming snakes, will try to see if his abilities are worth something with creature other than snakes. He quickly hops down from the cart and go try to tend the frightened camels and horses around.

Casting hypnotism on the animals, DC 14 Will, hoping to fascinate them, calm them down, and drawn them away from the fire.
Number of HDs of creatures affected:
2d4 + 0 ⇒ (2, 3) + 0 = 5

If that doesn't work, I will grab a bucket and help put the fire out.

Human Bard 2

Aakim is lost in thought during the journey to Kelmarane. It's been more than 20 years since the last time he was there, and he was but a child at the time. He tries to remember how the town was, what it looked like, how was like to live there on the edge of the desert, but it's no use. He remembers nothing, only the smoke and the fire brought by the invaders, and the fear that stroke his hearth when he was forced to leave with his father, leaving his mother behind and sister. Perhaps he will remember once he's there.
He observes his whip, the only thing that he was able to save when he flew. He touches the snake skin that covers it, almost like he's seeing it for the first time.
He exchanges very few words with the other members of the caravan, preferring to remain alone most of the time.

Aakim, Ult Combat had a Feat you might be very interested in for Whips, essentually making them into full reach weapons (provoke, can hit AC and NA, etc. . .). I think it is called Whip Mastery or something. Very last Feat in the section. :)

That's nice, I didn't find it in the srd (wierd...) but it's more about damage than combat manouvers, the thing I'm really interested in. I want Aakim combat style to be more like "you have a weapon, no you don't, by the way you are also prone now".

Human Bard 2

Character ready.
