The new Scar hex

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

After the scar hex has been called worthless and the like, the new FAQ makes it quite good.
Very good in my opinion. You can hex the creature from 1 mile away.
Anyone picturing a dozen old ladies deep in the dungeon cackling the whole day long to put fortune the whole day long on the whole royalty who have the "birthmark" of a crown on their buttox ...

Please discuss in a proper way if you like the changes or not.
In my opinion, it's good that it got technical uses, but that 1 mile hex is a bit too much.
EDIT: just wanted to say thank you Paizo for reacting to forum chatter, I don't want to discourage you from further improving some things.

scar hex

actually I like it now and think it would be very useful at times. It is still more of a RP style hex but it would have it's uses.

The one mile range makes it pretty useful. The initial need to make a touch attack makes it problematic to use in direct combat but I can see two ways of using it.
1) Allies: Allows you to cast fortune, ward, healing, etc. hex at a greater range. You could have the whole party scarred for this. Also, you could use leadership to have a coven which would could stay a safe distance back from the fighting. This way you get the benefits of coven without the need to bog down gameplay with more npcs.

2) Enemy: You could catch and release enemies. Effectively giving you power over them within one mile. Makes it very useful in enforcing your will and turning enemies into puppets.

3). Spectral hand, if it counts as touching for delivering this hex it would rock.

4). Prehensile Hair if spectral hand doesn't count.

Now as for the mechanical changes to this hex, I like it. It's point and overcomes the massive 30 foot range problem (ie charge range) that witch's suffered from and up's the fear/respect aspect that witch's are supposed to inspire.

Now it's actually useful at times AND thematic.

Scry? Yes please!

Oh and one more thing, from now on all my party members (and familiars, animal companions, cohorts, etc) will be getting a cute little scar inscribed onto them so I can stay half a mile away from them cackling and applying all my beneficial hexes from safety.
PLUS once I hit 10th level and pick up split hex I'll be bouncing my not so nice hexes off of the sparrows in cages each of my party members will be carrying from now on.
Not to mention all the small animals I'll be gifting to random targets while adventuring.

That's...that's...AWESOME!

What do you think about the bit of having a piece of their body once they are scarred? I want to cast mage armor on my barbarian from the safety of the back row.
