Shengo Arashi

He looks at the missing half of the elf, then back to his eyes.
“I won’t pretend I have a spell that fixes this,” Shengo says.
“But I can end the pain before this world finishes the job.”
Chamak
Chamak flies down and lands close to the remaining half of a man. "I don't want to rude, but where is the rest of your body? Would it help if we recovered it?"
GM_Panic
While Weal and Woe ends the last of the dinos.
Shengo Arashi and Chamak land next to the dying elf.
"We just got here, just, Nrix flow up to look around and said he had got bitten. Millon, Wilt and Drez went to the sounds coming form the jungle. Then they came. A pack of them, teeth and range, they bit me and thow me like a doll"
He must be talking about the half orc and the rest of his group of 6, who you see nothing off.
"The three you meet where the ^(^)- young!!!..."
He tries to cast heal again as blood goits out of his insides.
"young ones!!, the big ones took Millon, Wilt and Drez... just screams, look I don't have long I ask you take a part of me back to Sigil, go back get out of this hell hole, take me with you, my family will pay for the resurrection. The Family Millonron, ask around in sigil you will find them. Take my pack as part payment."
Then more shaking and you can see he is in pain, then He nods at Shengo.
"End this, the pain.... is bad"
He seems very stoic but resigned to his fate.
Chamak
Chamak takes one of the sticks from his belt and tells the man, "We'll do our best to get you home. Now relax and think of your family."

Shengo stays where he is for a moment longer, letting the jungle sounds settle back in. As Chamak secures the pack, Shengo closes his eyes briefly, then opens them again as his senses shift, searching for any lingering trace of intent, motive, or presence that doesn’t belong.
His gaze sweeps the blasted ground, the treeline, the scattered remains, not with emotion but with practiced scrutiny. Whatever passed through here did so with hunger and purpose, and he’s looking for the echo of that.
“They didn’t linger,” he says after a moment, voice low. “No guiding will behind them, no watchers hanging back. Just predators moving through.”
He turns slightly toward the jungle.
“Which means the rest of them are either deeper in… or already circling.”
Shengo uses detect good as Chamak checks the pack
Niloth, the Inexorable Knight
Niloth was humming appreciatively as the group efficiently finished dispatching the predator dinosaurs, from his perch up on a tree. "If there is one thing you can trust bloodthirsty adventurers with, it's that" he said to himself.
He lets the others handle the mercy killing: he could do it, if there was need, but he doesn't really have the stomach for it; he much prefers saving the world from destruction.
From his high vantage point, he makes sure nothing deadly is coming at them.
Now that he has time to look farther, does he see anything promising that would allow them to set a bearing?
Chamak
CHamak tells the group the contents of the pack. "Useful. But without our magical packs we need to be careful what we carry...."
He slings the pack over a shoulder for now and launches himself back into the air. No point risking surprise by a snake or some other vermin....
Go up about 50'
Fei Wan
Fei watched in rapt attention as the unfortunate died. Not so much on the death itself, he had seen that happen a thousand times. The emotion was strong, of course, but there was a sort of routine with a man dying. But Chamak? Oh! The sweet lies on his voice. The bitter reality of bringing the only relief possible. That was rarer. And it was fascinating how different people reacted to such a grim task. Intently, he watched as the necessary happened. Only when the spectacle was finished did he turn back to the task at hand.
”A good idea. Height to avoid the insects and to get a lay of the land.” He said cheerfully as he followed.
Chamak
Chamak looked at Fei Wan and Weal and Woe. "Insects? I was getting off the ground to avoid things like poisonous snakes or other reptiles. They usually can't fly. But bugs?"
He scans the area for possible swarms forming. perception?: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20

Shengo glances at the jungle, then back to Chamak, one corner of his mouth twitching.
“Flying helps,” he says. “But whatever’s watching us doesn’t seem impressed by altitude.”
He shrugs slightly, hefting his weapon.
“Snakes, insects… those are details. The real problem is that this place knows we’re food.”
Niloth, the Inexorable Knight
Hearing them, Niloth shakes his small head and calls out from his perch high in the tree: "Insects are up there too! Sliding under my clothes. Damnable things. Perhaps they are xylophages and think me made of wood."
To test his theory that the bugs don't just crawl but fly as well, he flies out from the tree and looks behind him to see whether any tiny fliers take wing after him. Then he anchors his tether to a tree farther away and rapidly swings away, checking whether the critters manage to keep while he's moving at high speed.

As you are investigating this Neela's had landed to also try and help the elf. But could only wait has his pain was ended but Shengo. His pack looted and the other start talking about the small Midges biting
everyone. Neela goes to a blacked tree stump and taking out some anti-bug ointment was just about to aply some to his arms.
Picture poor Neela standing there, He stops as waves at you all as he was just about to put the ointment on, his pack by his feet as he gives you all a big smile and a wave, and then a THUD!! Where the camera shows a wide of Neelas waving there is now a large Boulder, A shock waves of air hits you, as the ground shakes a little. Neelas is no more, a rock and fallen form the sky and Neela's is gone under its massive wight .

Looking up you see a number of large raptor like Birds, some small but 5 of them large, 4 of them are carrying large stones like the one that just fell form the sky. That seems to have from a 5th now flying off to the left. Height wise they are around 500' over you as a flock. As you look up you see one of the 4 making a whats to be a run to drop its stone.

Niloth takes flight once more, cursing the height at which their newly appeared foes are flying at; though he has wings, he is more at ease closer to the ground, and his abilities do not have a long-enough range to reach the creatures.
"Can anyone teleport us closer?" he asks; the lack of answer determines his next action: he turns invisible before flying up circuitously.

Fei Wan
Fei Wan broke up laughing at the absurdity of it all. He had truly befriended Neela, and he had been looking forward to whatever experience that might come from it. The true joy of seeing her dreams come true. The crushing guilt of letting her down. The look of despair when she died. But he got none of that. She had just died to a boulder. It was so random. It was so *absurd*. And he drunk the moment in, committing it to one of his memory stones. Such an experience was new, and as such it was treasured.

The shadow of the falling stone flashes over Shengo. He twists aside at the last second as the boulder slams into the ash where he stood, the impact shaking the ground.
Already moving, he brings his composite longbow up in one smooth motion and looses an arrow skyward at the diving bird.
to hit: 1d20 ⇒ 16
dmg: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 4) + 8 = 18
Shengo has an ac of 26 so the rock misses and then as a move he draws is bow and shoots as a standard action. 4 range increments is -8 which is his to hit with a longbow
Chamak
Chamak, AC30, sees the huge rock come entirely too close for comfort and wonders how the bird was able to detect him. Maybe it just guessed when he disappeared? He turns quickly to the side just trying to avoid the very fast, huge bird. Well, obviously calling it a bird was a stretch as these things were about as natural as a pit fiend!
As I veer off to one side does the thing change course to attack me? Also, I was flying up but my flight speed is only 60'. By your post I assume it is diving? Pathfinder rules do not change speed for diving but does reduce ascending speed to half. So if it is diving at me it would only be 170' closer, or 330' away still, correct?
GM_Panic
No Chamak they do a kind of dive bombing with the stones, some how they seem to home in on you, hidden or not, it could be they see air currents as you move. Once they drop the stones they go back to hight. So your assessment is right, they do not seem to want to come down a fight on the ground, they stay high, wheeling after they drop their stone as if checking if they hit.
Fei Wan
Grinning, Fei Wan launched himself up in the air. Flying as fast as he could, he decided that his best bet was to get higher than the birds could fly. The rocks couldn’t land on him if they couldn’t get above him to drop them.
60ft fly speed
Niloth, the Inexorable Knight
I posted my actions above already?
Swift to go Invisible then double move up and to the side
Niloth, the Inexorable Knight
Once the birds are chased off, Niloth lands next to Neela. He is distraught; he didn't expect to lose someone so soon. "We don't have the means to bring her back here, not with that's left of her. When we head back, we should collect her remains and see if a powerful priest can bring her back."
There is the other problem of how they're going to activate the Gate on the way back, but Niloth leaves it for another day. First, they have a mission to accomplish. "I couldn't see any specific landmark. Should we strike out in a random direction? I do believe Fate will be with us."
Chamak
Chamak flies down to join Niloth. "I think we need to avoid fighting if possible. We don't want to be worn out if we ever locate our target. Can we all fly?"
Shengo Arashi
|
Shengo glances at the crater for a brief moment before offering a respectful nod, acknowledging Niloth's statement, and then he turns his attention back to the jungle.
He rolls his shoulders like he's prepping for a workout, because let's face it, that's exactly what this is.
"No landmarks? Great, we're already winning at doing this the hard way," he quips dryly. "So just pick a direction. Try not to zigzag unless something starts chewing on us."
At Chamak's question, Shengo emits a soft snort.
"I don't do the flying, at least not without help" he replies, a smirk creeping onto his face. "If you decide to take to the skies, keep me in sight. You might feel safer up there, but the ground might just be where the fun happens."
He glances up at the dense canopy, and then back to the group, trying to stifle a grin.
"I can be your trusty guide on the ground. Let's keep moving before this place decides to throw something else our way, preferably not a giant carnivorous plant."
Chamak
Chamak launches himself back to the sky. "Guide on the ground and eye in the sky. Not knowing if we're going the right way or not, what could go wrong? It's not like we need to search the whole plane to find the guy...."
Niloth, the Inexorable Knight

He sidesteps the initial attack and, tethering himself to a tree behind him, flies out beyond reach of the strange creature. Since it doesn't seem to pursue, he guides the group around it.

Shengo moves closer, his boots softly crunching on shattered stone, eyes fixed on the vine-covered device under the dome. "Places like this don’t get abandoned without a reason," he says. He cracks his neck and signals inward. "Shall we find out if that reason is dead or just waiting?"
