You can take 10 minutes to heal and let Ephesian get over the enfeebled and venom (since it's not venom related).

You take some time to heal your superficial wounds (and to let Ephesian recover from the venom). In the meantime, Squeg examines the wasp nest. Inside he finds the body of a humanoid, impossible to identify due to its age and advanced state of decay, has been incorporated into the hive. All healed and spell effects gone, you get up and continue on. Benedet approaches the small altar and presses on a worn stone embedded in its base. The altar slides back against the wall, revealing a tunnel that slopes down toward the caverns below Greensteeples.

Benedet then hands their rucksack with the Greensteeples records and the coded letter to Squeg. "This is safer with you. I gave Sabina a map that will lead you to the surface once you're in the tunnels below. I can go no further. There are several of His Excellency's records and possessions that I must keep out of Thrune hands. Do not worry after me; I know how to keep out of the dottari's notice. Please, keep my family safe."

Sabina tries to raise an argument, but Benedet give her a stern look that brooks no discussion. "I must. The danger to me isn't nearly as terrible as what awaits us all if I do not remain." The survivors say their goodbyes to the majordomo with affection and finality as they close the tunnel entrance behind the party.

The caverns beneath Greensteeples are damp, dank, and dark. Dim light from sparse torches illuminates each tunnel and chamber. The narrow, 8-foot-tall caverns slope downward slightly as they bend south and west toward the slow-moving underground river that connects downstream with the Egorian sewer system. Though the air and surfaces are damp to the touch, the packed earth is not slippery in any way. The tunnel angles down deep into the labyrinth of passages beneath Egorian and into a small, rectangular room of rough hewn stone. To the south, a small entryway leads to open caverns where a human male sits in an ornately decorated blackened steel and crimson wheelchair. He waits patiently while flanked by Hellknights and imps.

"You see, Marius? I told you if we blocked all other routes out of that shack, we would bring our quarry here eventually. Greetings, Pathfinders. Paracount Salisfer, at your service. I am here to act as a representative for our beloved Queen Abrogail II." Nemete regards you and survivors while a male human Hellknight wearing nondescript armor places a small sack of coins into his outstretched hand.

"No need for violence, Pathfinders. I have no interest in killing or further delaying any of you. If you acquiesce to my requests, I will let you all go. Peacefully. You just have three things I require."

"Firstly, in your possession is a coded letter from the master of the house above. Second, I would like to know where you are bringing your trio of charges when you leave this city. And finally," he gestures to Humanity’s Resolve, where its hilt can be seen peeking out from a belt, sack, or scabbard, "that blade."

"That's why I asked if we needed to find anything else before we left!" Ida calls crossly after Benedet.

"If we had such a letter--and it's pointless for me to even say, because I'd say we didn't even if we did, and you wouldn't believe me even if we didn't--why would we carry it around? We'd be done with it, and we'd've burned it by now."

They really should have burned it by now.

"We aren't taking them anywhere. We're rescuing them, not imprisoning them. They can go where they like. Away from here, I assume. Your queen has made herself rather unpopular, I'm afraid.

"And no."

Ida crosses her arms. "Now then. There is no need for violence. We have no desire to kill or harm... anyone, actually. We're rather good at it, you know, but we do try to avoid such things. If you acquiesce to our demands we will let you go. Peacefully. We are much more reasonable then you and require only one thing: Go away."

"Paracount, I kinda hate to burst your bubble, but your alleged accusations aside, my comrades are right. Body recovery kits are common place and every seasoned agent worth their salt has already proven they would die for the Pathfinder society a dozen times over before bowing to petty threats as this."

Pathfinder Society lore check if I can use it to aid either roll...? Thematically I like Ephesian's statement best as I'd OOC rather not fight all of them and Ida's feels more threat-like, but mechanically it may just be better for me to roll my own Diplomacy. If I had a chance to assess the looks of the group standing before me I'd like to know if Paracount or Marius seems like either could be bluffing... Or discovery skills wise I'd like to know what influence rolls would be most effective, but I know we're running very low on time so nbd if it's impossible to resolve diplomatically.

If it's looking like they have every intention of killing us either way then I would have no problem using thievery/stealth to quietly try and light the torch I keep on my belt for this purpose (because if I take fire damage I can belch smoke and give us all concealment) while monologuing

I'm fully planning on Poppy taking fire damage so I can use the reaction from "eat fire" and make us concealed.

if you want to grant a bonus given Poppy's taking 1 point of fire damage I wouldn't say no... She's happy to take the 3 points of bludgeoning as rolled if that's how GM tiger wants to rule how torches work, but Poppy wasn't beating the random scratch parchment from her backpack as much as she is using it as a decoy to light her fingers with 1 point of fire damage while also trying to appear intimidating. This is my first time actually getting to trigger my character's fire resistance reaction and the ability to belch smoke so happy to take any pointers on it. I was planning on just belching in the 5 ft burst just to the left of Poppy that will get all PCs besides Poppy and Squeg.

The troops arrayed behind him all grin. They pull their weapons and advance.
