okay folks, I am going to cast an official Package vote:
I am voting for MERCENARY
Why?
A - we are lighter on cbt skills overall that I might choose, but especially Rion. The package has TWO Gun Cbt choices available
B - the package has stealth which I know Allan would like
C - the package has Medic; it isn't that Rion cannot serve as Medic, he can, but Medic 1 would be a great improvement
D - the package has Gunner, which Lucian had mentioned wanting, but most of our ship choices could use multiple gunners
E - even if it ended up Rion being forced to take Heavy Weapons, it would still be cool to have
Jason "Rion" Prince
Maybe I will take Computers from both contacts and then stealth from the package??
I think I might be Badger from the series lol
and maybe think about actually taking COMPUTERS not ELECTRONICS (Computers) ... because at the moment, Allen is actually good at FIXING computers, not using them. So a little more like Geek Squad and not so much FIrefly ;)

I had some fun with the UWP and created the asteroid where he grew upI would love to see that, can you post it somewhere?

Mercenary Skill Package: Mercenary Skill Package: This skill package focuses on ground combat, and is obviously aimed at combat-heavy games.
Sensors 1, Comms 1, Medic 1, Leadership 1, Heavy Weapons (any) 1, Gun Combat (any) 1, Gun Combat (any) 1, Stealth 1.
It says it focuses on ground combat. I don't see 'gunner' on the list. Also, it has 'heavy weapons.' For half the heavy weapons we would need 'battle armor' which, I don't think any of us have and the 'heavy weapons' are very expensive. I would vote for something other than Mercenary, but would select medic if it was chosen.
I would prefer it over 'Investigation' which has neither 'medic' or 'gunner.' if I were putting an option forward, I think I would propose 'Traveller' then 'Starship.'
Since we are still bouncing around ideas. Should we vote by listing them in descending order? Highest to lowest, eight down to one? then chose the package with the most points? The only problem would be is if we try and 'rig' it, making the package someone else recommended our absolute lowest, just to decrease its value. We'd get stuck with something no one wanted :)

yeah, that worked! I have trouble finding images I like. I should probably learn some new tech so I can craft them myself. But in the meantime, I like this one for Lucian. I feel like it gives off that 'lone scout' vibe.
Allen Crawford
OK then, unless someone has another strong desire for a package, I saw we go with the Traveller. There are enough skills there for us each to choose 2 extra skills if needed and it should give us a good selection. What do you all think??
(Not trying to take over anyone choice, just want to move along to playing!! :-) )
Lucian Brachtarna
I will abstain from picking a package. So what ever the group decides I'll pick something from it and make something up why he got it :P
I think there should be a rule of 'no abstaining' :)
The thing for me, is if someone feels their lacking, let them have it. I know Jason really wants a gun :)
Jason "Rion" Prince
So far
2x traveller
1x mercenary
Noooooooo, I am not exempt from listening to the DM (or Universe Master, ooooooo, or IMP - Imperium Master Person)
I will need to re-vote
Give me just a sec
UPDATE - with some side-chat on Discord, we are now 4 votes in favor of Traveller
DM-T, would you go ahead and set the pick rotation for us, and include pravindor in the list?
Jason "Rion" Prince
well the Neural comm is not a problem, but the wafer jack is a TL12...anyway I can use my underworld knowledge or agent contact to perhaps gain access to one??
but the tech level 14 neural comm is WAY cooler ... is there any way that you want to make these goals rather than pre-game purchases? We could say that we are all going to go to Darien as our first action or something?

I am sticking with TL 11.
Also everyone needs to know that augments are highly frowned upon in most parts of the Imperium and illegal in some. So just be careful before you go full cyberpunk.

pinvendor here officially joining the chat!
Sorry for being late. I wanted to be able to easily reference my prior term posts, so it was easier to keep that in Recruitment since they were all in the same thread. Plus I didn't want to post as my main alias, and I hadn't yet decided on a name or anything at the time.
Looks like I still need to come up with Connections. So significant events in my terms:
Strength (Str) 7 (+0)
Dexterity (Dex) 8 (+0)
Endurance (End) 7 (+0)
Intelligence (Int) 11 (+1)
Education (Edu) 9 (+1)
Social Standing (Soc) 5 (-1)
Skills:
Carouse 0
Computers 0
Drive 1 (Wheeled)
Engineer 1 (some kind of specialty)
Gunner 0
Gun Combat 1 (Energy Pistol)
Gun Combat 1 (Slug Pistol)
Investigate 0
Jack of All Trades 1
Mechanic 1
Medic 1
Pilot 0
Remote Operations 1
Streetwise 1
Survival 0
Vacc Suit 0
Zero-G 0
Cash: Cr 25,000
As far as the Traveller package choices, unless we believe in spreading out the proficiency, I'm drawn to Medic to bump me to Medic 2 since it doesn't really look like we have a lot of that elsewhere.
Jagger Stevens
Just so it is clear you get those skills in the package as they are listed, they cannot be used to raise a skill. So Recon 1 is Recon 1 not Recon 1 +1 to recon 2.
If you haven't done so please read all the skills so you know what they do. Most are obvious but something that might be covered by perception but have 2 or more skills covering it in Traveller.
Well...that ends the Medic 2 dream. OK, as I already have Medic 1, I will have to choose something else:
Stealth 1 feels safe. Don't think I saw anyone dibs that yet.
Turns out it was dibs-ed! Choosing Sensors 1 instead.
@Allen Crawford: Given mine is a success and yours is an injury, perhaps your undercover operation reached its zenith and your cover was blown during the takedown. Jagger and his partner were investigating a murder which turned out to be related and ended up unexpectedly involved in discovering the larger issue (feels like almost every cop movie ever). Jagger's unintended appearance happens to be in the nick of time to save your life and get you out of the situation hence the accolades.
Naturally we walked away from the explosion wearing our sunglasses and didn't look back.

Traveller Skill Package:
1. Jagger - Stealth 1
2. Axel - Pilot (any) 1
3. Rion - Gun Combat 1 (any)
4. Lucian - Gunnery 1 (any)
5. Allen - Sensors 1
6. Jagger - Persuade 1
7. Lucian - ??
8. Allen - ??
Comms 1 & Medic 1 should remain if I got the adjusted choices correct.
