Isaku takes a shot at Red. Its flesh seems to deflect some of the impact, but still seems to hurt it. The burst of flame strikes the ground harmlessly. He recognizes these as vampire spawn, undead with the vampire subtype. They share the weaknesses of the true vampire and can drain blood from a foe who cannot move.

As the creatures are defeated, they dissolve into the mist. The defeated vampires leave behind several valuables, as their gear drops in heaps from their mistdissolved bodies. The treasures include a golden sword sheath (worth 15 gp), a silver earring shaped like a dragon holding a ruby (worth 20 gp), and a severed finger still wearing a gold ring (worth 6 gp).
