Saratur

Works
Saratur moves closer to the bar keeping an eye on the elf.
"Will we wait when she finishes? She seems to have enough money, to pay off the bar owner."
Kiikarah
|
Kiikarah moves closer to get a better view of the action at her table.
He messages the others, "It looks like she currently has enough to cover her tab back home. Perhaps we should suggest she quite while she is ahead."
Antethriss
|
Perhaps one person will sit down to her as a player and start talking about recent scams, threatening the arrival of stewards? And the others -like me- will be on hand if she tries to run away?
Vitellius Korpopolis

Vitellius provides voice-over commentary to Cambot in a low volume. "And here we see the challenges of being a Starfinder. Lacking the lawful authority of the Stewards, what will happen if they provoke violence in the casino? Yet can they allow this master of disguise to escape and forfeit their bounty? Operating in a gray area of the law, Starfinders aren't quite cops and aren't quite criminals."
Vitellius asks Cambot to zoom in to see if Vanecarsys is armed.

Saratur hears different ideas from his co-scamers.
"Ok, on it."
Saratur takes a place at the table, they don't have platforms that would support him. If credstick is needed Saratur would obtain one
Saratur reaches for the cards with his fin. "Hmm, hmm. Nice, nice. How about I make this game more pleasant by sharing a story that I heard. In one of the Absalom bars I stumbled upon a patron who told me of an intriguing scam. A dwarf enter the establishment flashing some rare minerals, saying how lucky he was. Right after he started to sell shares in this business, as he collected some money, that dwarf, a witty runt, began a fight and vanished. With cash of course"
Saratur moves his big head with giant tusks across the table watching at other players
"The dwarf was never to be seen again, some say that he entered restrooms, but never came out. However other patrons saw a tall elf woman leaving, blonde hair, witty eyes, undercut hair, earrings."
Saratur looks to the other side of table
"Apparently the bartender said that if the dwarf would show up and give back the money, no charges will be filed."

The Elven woman focuses on her cards as Saratur tells his story, and goes rigid as he describes the culprit.
"Is this how you get into the minds of other players, by accusing them of crimes? It's a bold strategy." she responds with a short laugh. She folds her hand and removes her credstick from the table. "I do apologise for this person's tasteless sense of humor." She tells the other patrons at the table as she stands up to leave.
She moves to the bar as if to order a drink and waits for you to approach her. "What is it that you want...your money back? I had to pull those scams. I needed the credits."
Antethriss

I feel at home. There are so many dark stories in my home dark world... - a green scaly hand holds a glass of whiskey, cold eyes are barely visible from under the hood, croaking voice sounds unpleasant - I've heard a lot of similar stories, but for the collection I want a new one from the Pact Worlds. So, why did you have to do these scams, why did you need money?
Saratur
|
Saratur finishes the game and stands up "Cards were cold, enjoy the game"
he moves to the bar and orders a drink
"We came for the money, but please entertain us with the story."
Kiikarah
|
Kiikarah will move closer to the bar, watching for threats and keeping an eye on the exits. He'll stay out of the discussion with the elf.
| GMJones |
Vanecarsys pauses, considering her options. "Look, it's.. it's a private matter. If I could win a few more credits I could cover any damages, as well as pay for...." She trails off. "Look, I'll make this easy for you. I've got to get back to Absolom with this credstick. I'll come with you, but we can't go to the authorities. I'll do what I can to make this right"
Vitellius Korpopolis
|
Disappointed by the lack of action so far, Vitellius moves over to Kiikarah for a quick interview. "So now you've got her, but it's clear she's going to do a runner the second she gets a chance. How do Starfinders secure prisoners? Old-fashioned manacles? Exotic alien tech from The Vast?"

Kiikarah
|
"Prisoners are secured with binders and turned over to the Stewards," say Kiikarah casually, while not taking his eyes of the elf.
| GMJones |
As Vanecarsys begins to nod her approval to Saratur, a voice breaks through the crowd.
"Hand over the Elf." You turn to look and see 5 tough looking characters who have emerged from the service area, and have set their sights on Vanecarsys.
Security, who has been watching you the entire time in case you needed help with the alleged cheater, springs into action. As they move in on the new threat, the gang rushes them. Each security guard is attacked by a gang member, leaving two who look to charge at you.

"Breaking News! This is Vitellius Korpopolis for ASNN. The main gaming floor of the Venture Solaris casino has seen a firefight break out between a Starfinder bounty hunting team and a group of apparent gang members." Trying to demoralize the closest thug.

Resolving in initiative order
The first attacker slows his pace towards your group as if stunned. His eyes settle on Cambot. It is as if a deep seeded stage fright is suddenly activated. "The...uh... We're going for the bounty..." he stammers as Vitellius advances with the microphone.
Red is shaken for 3 rounds, -2 all around.
As the ganger is distracted, Kiikarah leaps into action and whips him, causing an acidic wound.
Made contact with the shaken condition. Antethriss may act.

In the interest of moving things along, I'm going to make my actions with the rest of the gang. What I was going to do shouldn't have any affect on Antethriss' turn. Unless your intention was to double move to green and get stabbed.

As Antethriss and Saratur close in on one of the Gangers, their combined blows bring their target to the ground.
They have a pretty sad EAC, and Vitellius gets the MVP of this round for bringing the targets EAC down again and making those blows connect. No problem on the delay Antethriss, I didn't want to bot anyone first round so I could do this guilt free.

Vanecarsys watches the battle erupt, and sees her opportunity.
"Sorry fellas, Shuttles leaving!" she calls as she takes off at a full sprint.

Green doesn't seem phased by the camera turning on him, or having had two blows make solid contact on him. He pulls his survival knife and lashes out at Antethriss, but his blade fails to find cloak or green scales.
The rest of the battle around you rages on, with the security guard to the north landing a devastating blow and bringing his opponent to the ground. Having seen almost all half their gang fall, one shouts "We lost the elf, let's get out of here while we still can!"
I'm going to end initiative here, unless Saratur wants to take his action to finish off green. If you choose to do so just start off your next post with your combat action.
As the gang turns to flee from both you and security, the lead Guard calls over "Go, get the target! We've got this handled!"
You rush from the VIP section to the main casino floor, where the chaos of combat doesn't seem to have caused any disturbance over the noise of gaming tables and smooth jazz.
We are in a chase mechanic - Vanecarsys has a decent lead. There are a series of challenges to overcome to close the gap or lose Vanecarsys. For each challenge, one PC may attempt the check, and all else can attempt to aid.
There's no sign of which direction Vanecarsys went, and there are multiple exits to the casino she could be headed for. Maybe someone in the crowd saw something.

Several people point off into a busy section of the casino as you ask around but one man pipes up. "There was a dwarf rushing past me that way, spilled my drink"

You make good time through the busy casino floor and enter a new section through a small opening. It's not as busy as the area you just moved through, and the mood here is calm and relaxed. You manage to pick out Vanecarsys from the crowd. You spot them as a dawrf standing in front of a gambling machine and pulling the lever without any reaction from the machine. They begin moving again as you close in, walking and first, then breaking into a dash towards a service area door. You reach the door just as it crashes closed in your face. A clunk of the locking mechanism can be heard, then footsteps rushing off again.

You got it
Kiikarah wastes no time popping the door open, Vanecarsys is barely stepping out of the room to an exterior door. You continue chasing them, and realise you're headed back to one of the shuttle terminals. The four of you easily overtake Vanecarsys with no more obstacles in your path. Realising that the game is up, they raise their hands in surrender. The dwarf form gives way to their natural form Photo on slides.
"Alright, alright. You got me. I had to try. It's my adopted mother. I have to get back to Absolom to see her in the hospital. I can afford her treatment now. Without it she'll die. That's why I had to go through all this. I know you have no reason to believe me at this point, but please, you can take me to the hospital. Just let me pay for her treatment."
You guys will have to decide that to do next. Pay for her treatment, or refuse and turn them over to Trazhi. Either way she has agreed to accompany you back onto the shuttle for Absolom.

Saratur looks at her. "You are coming with us, we will visit that hospital of yours and decide what to do next."
