Reroll on that ugly mug if I still have it at end, but a module... probably won’t.
Definitely going to be slow posting until after US Memorial Day.

Oh, naturally, that should be Profession (Shrine Maiden), but I quoted Onna to make it easier from my mobile phone and... kinda forgot to change it, whoops.

A note or two about Chance’s Archetype (bodyguard).
Shared Vigilance (Ex): Both a bodyguard and its master gain Alertness as a bonus feat whenever they are adjacent.
This replaces share spells.
Tenacious Guardian (Ex): At 3rd level, a bodyguard can always act in a surprise round (though it remains flat-footed until it acts). As long as its master is adjacent, a bodyguard remains conscious (though it becomes staggered) when its hit points fall below 0. While below 0 hit points, the bodyguard loses 1 hit point per round but gains a +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks, dying only if its hit points reach a negative total equal to its Constitution score plus its master’s class level.
This replaces evasion.
So, awareness may bump up or lower their perceptions if you roll them as blocks. In addition, if there is a surprise round, Chance would always get to act, even if neither her nor Kenta notice anything. So I don’t know if you want to roll her initiative separately or keep it with Kenta’s and just give her an action.

Don’t see why not!

Normal Track
Sorry to be slow in posting recently. I'll be pretty busy with paizocon this weekend and then on vacation June 1-6. I should be able to post but it may just be a little irregular. Should return to normal after that.

GM supervillan |

Not sure there are dart rules in Pathfinder.
I don't think I've seen specific rules, but I know of a module that has a starknife throwing contest. Rules would be pretty similar. You get so many throws per competitor, higher attack roll totals indicate higher scores on the board. Or you set fixed DCs for 'targets', whoever beats the DC by the most or the most often is the winner.

![]() |

I’m on vacation until Sunday. May not have much time to post until I get back.

![]() |

Hey everyone, sorry to slow things down. Back from vacation and catching up. Will try to get a post in gameplay tonight.

Is this set in Ustulav? If so, I might remind everyone of a very recent boon most of you collected.
If so, Kenta will be grabbing a "Soul Stimulant". Especially cause this scenario seems to be leaning towards having undead involved.

![]() |

Sorry everyone! Old friend arrived for a short visit. I’ll get something posted tomorrow after he leaves

![]() |

Sorry again for the long delay - hope I haven't caused any aggravation. I should be good to go now.
Also, I'll also use the above-mentioned boon to get a Soul Stimulant - seems like a good use of it - thanks for the suggestion.

GM supervillan |

We just need to use one of those fancy scrolls that allows you to understand languages on them and one on us
Comprehend Languages is a Personal spell, so scrolls will only benefit the caster :(

![]() |

I figured there was some sort of limit to his plan. But he thought it was a good idea. Someone might also have tongues or something. Unfortunately though, Kenta doesn't have any of those options. He is just hoping someone else was prepared for that eventuality. If not, taking them to the guards upstairs is also a good plan.

I'm back. Had a heck of a couple of weeks. Secured a new home, moved, got locked-down with covid and had to clean the house that was left in a mess buy the previous tenants. Kinda back now. Toshi with the knives.

![]() |

Dang yeah, that does seem like quite the adventure. Glad to have you back! I think plenty of things will need knifing on this adventure.

![]() |

Whew, that sounds like a lot! Hope the covid situation wasn't too bad.

![]() |

I am in Australia, so comparatively we have done very well compared with other places in the world. Having said that we have 20-odd new cases each day for the past week, and that is enough for the state government (I live in south-east Queensland) to initiate a lockdown preventing us from leaving home unless we are doing essential tasks. We have been locked in for the week so far, kids doing school from home over zoom and that type of stuff. Like I say we have done very well. We don't have thousands of people dying a day. Just stressful keeping kids entertained and not killing eachother.

![]() |

Wish we had similarly sensible government here (I'm in Atlanta in the US state of Georgia, which is run by Trumpist-aligned covid-deniers). After a year and a half of working remotely I return to in-person teaching on campus in two weeks but fortunately everyone is required to be vaccinated. My ex-wife, on the other hand, is a grad student at a university that answers to the idiot governor - not only are vaccines and masks not required, she's not even allowed to ask her students to wear masks! She is vaccinated but our four year old daughter isn't so it's very stressful. Nationwide, we had 100,000 new cases yesterday and the models are predicting we may hit 200,000/day again soon. And still 40% of the country is lost in delusional fantasies (covid's not real, wearing a mask keeps you from being able to breathe, the vaccine changes your dna, trump won the election, etc.). :-(

The lack of US's ability to have a unified, science-based response is so frustrating. I'm on the west coast in Oregon. I go back to the classroom in two weeks as well. Our district has a mask mandate, so I'm happy about that. My entire family is vaccinated, but the Delta has me concerned.

![]() |

Yeeeeaaaaahhhh...
I've got family in Florida, which is, from what I can tell, run by even worse leadership than Georgia, and I haven't been able to visit them in like a year because (I'm sure completely unrelated to the above) it's one of those places where COVID flares up a LOT.

GM supervillan |

At this point you have three locations that you can investigate.
Crove's Asylum (in the Crown district on the top of the hill, not far from the manor)
The Church on Elm Way (in the Tangles, on the southern slope)
Rupman Myre's Middenstone Vats (in the Filth, the vermin-filled district by the docks)
You can head directly to one of these places now, although you are all Fatigued; or you can rest for the night and begin looking for the Keepers in the morning.

![]() |

I vote we rest the night. Not that I am scared to go to any of these sure-to-be creepy locales in the dark. Nope. That is not it at all.
I always have to remember not to push to get through modules at the same pace as a regular scenario. That's a great way to end up dead.

![]() |

Rest is fine. Fatigued is not fun. Exhausted is even worse.
Asylum first thing in morning.
I’ll post IC when I get a chance, but for now those are my thoughts.

![]() |

Without Ikari here to give us Fatigue Resistance, yeahhhhh
Plus, we're less likely to run into "ah crap, none of us have Darkvision" during the day

GM supervillan |

Phidöe might remember how his wand works, but with no prehensile limbs he cannot activate it. Wands, staves, rods or similar magic items need a suitable limb to wield. Lack of limbs is not something UMD can get around. Your mouth does not suffice - you also need to speak a command word (unless you happen to find a Wand of Silent <spell>) even if it's a faked UMD command.
You can get breakable vials out of you pouch with your mouth, and drop/smash them to activate oils. You'll need a hand from someone else to open a potion vial in order to swallow the liquid.
UMD would still be useful with various sorts of "always on" magic items that you might need to 'fool' (eg Robe of the Archmagi) and could wear in fox shape.
Onna can have a go at working the mage armour wand of course.

![]() |

Hmm, interesting. I sort of assumed he could hold the wand in his mouth - ala playing 'fetch' - while growling out the command word. But I can see your reasoning as well.

GM supervillan |

I don't see any reason why an animal companion can't use more than one trick at once as long as the tricks are not mutually exclusive. (Many combinations would be). Chance doesn't need to be told to "Defend" herself though, she'll do so if attacked same as any animal would.
The Defend trick is used to get the companion to attack creatures attacking a specific individual (usually its "master" but can be anyone the master specifies) without needing to give further direction.

GM supervillan |

Proposed Standard Operating Procedure:
Party does Perception at closed doors before opening them (GM rolls , Hiiragi takes 10). Kenta opens door. In a new room or area Onna does Detect Magic, paladins sniff for evil (unless you're straight into initiative).
If you want to say "always go left" or similar, or make other changes at any time, you can of course do so.
I will otherwise take a Rule of 2 for deciding what direction you go in.

![]() |

I support this OSP, including using rule of 2 for next room choice.

![]() |

Works for me!
Letting the GM handle Perception rolls is nice because it means they can save the rolls for when there's actually something to Percept instead of players rolling every ten steps ;P

![]() |

Yep, I'm fine with this too.

![]() |

My apologies for the long delay in posting, everyone. This week has been pretty hectic.

![]() |

Down we go! What could possibly go wrong?
