Father Emmett Slade
Father Emmett casts Word of Truth and an image appears over his head showing the holy symbol of Damerrich, a dove perched on an axe.
"We are authorized Agents of Edgewatch and are here to resolve this situation peacefully, but will use force if attacked."
Word of Truth - You speak a statement you believe to be true and that is free of any attempt to deceive through twisting words, omission, and so on. The statement must be 25 words or fewer. A symbol of your deity glows above your head, and anyone who sees you and hears your statement knows that you believe it to be true
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
GM, please feel free to add whatever bonus you feel the Word of Truth would add.
While the team awaits their answer, Father Emmett begins humming along to Pen's catchy tune with a pleasant smile.

I wonder if Kobolds are naturally aggressive? Are these Kobolds looking aggressive? Is that sweat running down that Kobolds neck?

Miss Canella smiles as she watches the Kobolds.
Ono.
Ono glances about indifferently, making notes of tactical features of the room, and thinking through a new sword fighting technique he recently learned that delivers far more force than a standard strike. He makes no effort to appear intimidating or welcoming. In fact, an observer might (mistakenly) think he appeared bored with the situation.
Commandant Lassard
The room the Kobolds are entering and marching through with seemingly determined purpose...
Atrium
A wide stone path leads from the western wooden archway into this roofless, open-air atrium. Ten-foot-tall wooden lattices with strategic gaps provide viewing windows all around the area while preventing visitors from falling off the raised structure. At the eastern end of the atrium, wide marble steps ascend ten feet to two large wood-and-bronze doors.
Commandant Lassard
The group of marching kobolds continue their approach. The cadence of their voices in step with their feet stomping on the ground. The Battle Leader calls for a halt as they enter the Fountain Pavilion. She calls out orders to the other kobolds; who then begin to spread out into defensive positions.
Me be BATTLE LEADER REKAREK! You are trespassing on Stonescales property! We send message now!
He sees the image above Father Emmett's head. She actually sneers.

Father Emmett smiles warmly, under his symbol of Dammerich's truth, confident in a peaceful resolution. He gently raises his hands to offer the approaching kobolds a welcome and his blessing.
I wish you and your families a Happy Easte...
The Battle Leader's hateful shout shocks Father Emmett to his core and he loses all control of bladder and bowels.
Oh no, I just washed these pants. I hope no one notices. Why, Dammerich, WHY?
Then the bolts start hitting him. Three bolts strike Father Emmett, one in the left shoulder, one in the stomach, and one critically in his right temple.

Combat over! Nice job!
There are still many cracks, crevices, and crayon-colored chambers to investigate...
Also, are we just gagging the captured kobolds? Questioning? Painting funny pictures on their faces?
Ono's elven eyes reach into the next chamber...

Embarrassed at his failure, Father Emmett claps his hand and smiles with forced merriment.
Good as new!
When no one is looking, his smile fades from his face as he descends further into his oppressive well of shame.
Commandant Lassard
Ono stalks over to the peacefully sleeping Battle Leader.
The Elf glares at the still form.
He then realizes that the sleeping Battle Leader can't actually appreciate his glare at this time; due to him sleeping.
Glancing about to make certain no one seen that; Ono roughly elf-handles the sleeping kobold.
He waits to make certain that the now awake kobold's eyes are on his, before starring at him with his mean elf face!

"No need for violence?!? This is what you're going to say to me after you command an attack upon myself and my companions?!?", Ono says incredulously as he draws his Elven Curved Blade slowly from its sheath.
He continues to speak as he fishes around in his pack, pulling out a whetstone and some oil. "You are going to tell me everything of any importance about this place. Every trap and potential hazard. I want to know about everything I should know about, and anything that can cause me harm, even if it's simply breaking a fingernail or stubbing my toe.".
He pours a small amount of oil on the stone, then slowly begins running it along his blade. Each pass causes a menacing 'ssshhhhhhrrrreeeeee' sound. Satisfied in the stage he has set, the elf finishes his ultimatum. "If I'm satisfied with your answer, perhaps we can avoid further violence here today. If your answer leaves me wanting... well, I'm not sure you'll make it to the Slave Pits."
As the last words leave his lips, Ono turns his ear towards the kobold in an exaggerated gesture, making it clear that he's ready for an answer immediately.
If that's not HEROICALLY terrifying, then I don't what is... ;)
