At the sight of trouble, Luna ball returns home (to Nali) but not before withstanding a few unexpected blows from the flying creature.
Nali lets out a howl "Grrrr. Now you've done it" as she reloads her arms. She then looks around and finds another stone to launch at the creature.

Dahros shoots the closest bird at point blank range, killing it outright. Beside him, d'log dispatched another, then grabbed one with his tail, holding it in place long enough for Thellir and Rolo to hack it to pieces. That just left the bird that had attacked Luna Ball, a bad decision for its own longevity. Nali, furious at her familiar's treatment, launched a rock into the sky and knocked the bird from the air.
And as suddenly as the attack had started, it was over. However, the tarp covering the wagon was now completely shredded, no longer protecting the goods inside from the rain that was sure to pick up again.
Ava Kanava

Ava is satisfied to see the birds swiftly dealt with. She clambers into the back of the wagon and tosses aside the corpse of the one that Dahros killed. "This bird was trying to get something. Maybe we can see what it was?"
Ava Kanava

"Bah, no luck," the gnome grumbles. "Oh, well. Let's fix the tarp and keep going before a flock of seagulls descends upon us or something."
Once Dahros sits down, she climbs back into his lap.

Thellira joins Ava, "I assume this is just more bad luck. Let's take a look at what's in here, maybe we can try and cover some of the tapestries and scroll cases at the very least." She looks at the others, "I don't suppose anyone has a spare tarp? Or waterproof blanket or something?" She begins to shift items around to try and give some of the more water adverse items a little protection.

"Who am I kidding, I can do that as well as anyone... just like driving a wagon! Here we go." He grabs an ill fitting branch and tries to make some use of it as added cover, then jumps back onto his driver's seat and waits for the group to be ready.

Nali Funkenstein
|
"Yeah! Thats what you get! Never Touch Luna!!!"
Nali calms herself before returning her arms to normal. She then takes a look at the damage done to the cart.
"I am starting to worry that there is some secret in this collection of artifacts that is being withheld from us. I'd like to take some time to further research. In the interim, if anyone has any healing capabilities, it seems Luna Ball got a bit roughed up. Can anyone lend a hand? Thanks!"
If I can, Nali will detect magic on the items we are carrying, so see if she can narrow down any problem items. LMK if I need any sort of roll here.
Ava Kanava

Ava sticks her tongue out at Thellira when the dwarf turns her back. She wiggles her hips to get more comfortable in Dahros’s lap.
”Feel free to poke around,” she tells Nali. ”In the meantime, let’s keep moving. The faster we get this wagon to its destination, the faster it becomes somebody else’s problem and we complete our mission!”

Nali points to Luna Ball and says "D'log. Heal! "

The storm rolled back in as fast as it had abated.and the rain came pelting down once more. With the tarp covering the wagon gone, and no real way to repair or replace it, the contents began to get wet. Rolo tried to cover the top with branches, but it was only a stopgap measure. Without some kind of real repair, or some other alternative, the contents of the wagon would definitely be soaked.
Travelling became difficult again as the rain-slick cobbles turned muddy with the silt washing across the road and coming up between the cobbles. Rolo had a hard time keeping the horses under control, as each flash of lightning seemed to be closer and closer. The wind whipped through the trees, and though the narrowing corridor of trees brought some relief from the wind and rain, more than one branch littered the road, torn off by the winds.
As you approached a bend in the road, movement caught several eyes. d'Log and Nali both screamed a warning to Rolo to stop, and the champion managed to stop the horses just in time to prevent a giant tree falling on the wagon. The sound and violent swaying of the branches sent the horses rearing in panic, and Rolo struggled to keep them from bolting.
Even as Rolo fought with the horses, a tumble of squirrels poured out of the trees to the right, heading straight for the wagon.

Dahros and Thellira struggled to move the fallen tree off the road. They were making decent progress, but once d'Log got the horses unhitched from the wagon and hitched to the log, the job went much faster. Finally the road was clear and the horses hitched back to the wagon.
Another hour down the road, and things have settled down again. As the wagon travels, animals seem to grow upset. Squirrels chatter angrily, and birds continually dive angrily toward the wagon before swerving at the last moment, as if trying to scare a predator off. The road gets rougher ahead, and the animal sounds begin to quiet down.
On your guard, several of you see shallow pits carved into the road. You know that an unwary horse or pedestrian could turn an ankle or break a leg in the depressions.
