Welcome to the discussion thread of The Cultist’s Kiss (S4-08) that I'll be running for Outpost III, starting up on March 30th. You can dot and delete in the Gameplay thread at your leisure; please post your Initiative/Perception mods on the slides (link is in my header and at the top of the page) along with your icon. You can also post your PFS info below when you get a chance, along with any special abilities you think I might need to be aware of...

For those of you I haven’t GM’ed before, I’ll give a bit of what you can expect from me. I don’t pretend to know everything when it comes to Pathfinder rules; most of you likely have been playing longer and know the rules better than I. If, more likely when, I err, call me on it as you see it and I’ll fix it; I have no qualms about retconning if I screw something up. You won’t hurt my feelings as I like to think I don’t have too much of an ego. By rule of thumb, I’ll retcon if my mistake is detrimental to the PC/party; if my mistake is beneficial to the PC/party, I will not retcon unless I catch it immediately. My main goal is that everyone will enjoy themselves and have fun.

As a GM, I usually post at least two or three times a day, sometimes more, and try to keep things moving along. I don’t expect that much posting from my players, although you’re welcome to do so if you wish, but I’d appreciate if you could post at least once a day and once over the weekends. Real life comes first though so please let me know, if possible, when you may have a hard time posting. If I have to bot you, I’ll check your profile for botting instructions; lacking that, I’ll bot you conservatively equally considering the best interests of the character and the party.

As far as initiative goes during combat...for those players in the same initiative block, I usually play things out in post order as opposed to initiative order as I’ve found that moves the combat along more quickly. But if it’s a situation where it’s more beneficial to the party to play the block in initiative order, I will do so.

Also: After careful review of available funds, I have enough to purchase a +1 Adamantine Holy Greatsword to replace Tiny's current +1 Adamantine Greatsword. If that is permissible before the start of the game, I would like to do so. I am not sure if I sell the old one for 50% or less if I am allowed to make the change. I have 7K left even before selling the old sword. Please advise when you have the time.

No worries, Jing...but one question. While you can sell back the +1 adamantine great sword at half price, why not just upgrade it to Holy instead? If I understand you correctly, upgrading Tiny’s current +1 adamantine great sword to Holy would be cheaper than selling it and buying a new one. Holy’s base price modifier is +2 and with its current +1 bonus, the total enchantment would be +3. You just pay the difference between +1 (2,000 gp) and +3 (18,000 gp) which would be 16,000 gp. Or am I missing/overlooking something here (which I some times do)?

Our GM is familiar with Kiboko and his animal companion, Mvumbu the Wise and Beautiful. For the benefit of my fellow players though, the basics of the character are a barbarian/hunter mix: amplified raging pack flanking alongside the hippo for accuracy and heavy melee damage. Kiboko is also fairly smart, and whilst not focused on knowledges he's good at tracking and stealth.

One new trick for Kiboko, now that he's just hit level 10, is Share Shape. This spell lets him become a large hippo: and that means two large, raging hippos using vital strike bite attacks. Or, something like this.

I was not aware that PFS allowed that. Not sure how to do that with HeroLab. If it is allowed, I will simply adjust on my character sheet.

Thinking of maybe picking up a new 9L Magic Missile wand. 3L Scorching Ray isn't much.

Talking tactics, Jing Kwan is more prone to use Glitterdust(DC=20) over Haste, however, since I'm 10L I can target 10 party members.

Just went to add information to the slides. Tiny and I have the same Initiative modifier, but his Perception is superior which is why I usually go by his rolls in gameplay. There hasn't been any problems with GM's in the past, but if you would prefer to use Jing Kwan's rolls, that will be fine. You are the GM, it's your rules.

Sorry to be a party pooper, Jing, but that wand isn't a legal purchase unless it appears on a chronicle sheet. (If it does, then awesome!)

Season 10 Guide to Organised Play, p.21 wrote:

But GM Otha is right about upgrading the sword.

After 45 min. of searching through chronicle sheets there isn't any wands of magic missile above 1L listed. So I will not be purchasing it.

I will like to point out something that is often overlooked:

#5-08:The Confirmation has scroll of Mage Armor(6L) listed. After talking with several Gm's and their search it is believed that "it was a typo that was never fixed but is legal because it wasn't" kind of thing.

There's a general provision that's been established by campaign leadership that if a chronicle sheet item is supposed to be discounted then it will be called out as discounted on the sheet, and otherwise typos do not allow for discount purchases. I'd search for the ruling but am afk just now.

It's not the discount that I am referencing. The price seems correct. It is the fact that there is no limit to the purchase of the item, like the two wands. Therefore, for lower level casters, it is an ideal work-around. My Core sorcerer has carried a half dozen as he can afford since first playing the session.

Teric is a cold mage, who can change the energy of his blasting spells to cold. When he does this, his Oracle revelation kicks in to slow enemies. He also tosses around a bunch of other blasting+debuff spells.

I just remembered that Teric has a vanity to allow him a reroll of a dayjob if the initial roll is 10 or less (Expert Entrepreneur). He also has a boon to give him +2 to his dayjob (Greenheart's Blessing).

decide amongst yourselves who wants to have Life Link in case a combat breaks out. Sèriè gets one of the 4 slots and Quiella usually assigns the other slots to front liners. Kiboko doesn't seem to need it as much.

I usually present Teric as the stereotypically Varisian conman. Like the best used car salesman you've ever seen. Greasy beard and everything, but he's so good that you just don't care.

Kiboko's last mission had him solving puzzles, beating skill challenges, *and* one-round-killing a clay golem (with Mvumbu's help). Not worried about temporarily taking a back seat now whilst others do their thing :)

It never rains but it pours... My grandfather fell off a tricycle today and hit his head. He is in the hospital, possibly on his death bed. Most of the things keeping me from pbp have been positive life things but this one really sucks.

To save space on gameplay tab I have a plan that should work easily.

Is there a blanket in the cell that will cover me completely?

If so, Jing Kwan will stay and cover himself as far from the cell door. Using the Message cantrip repeatedly (current Range: 200'), he will keep asking Kiboko if they are outside yet. Once he gets a Yes answer, he will use Transposition(su) and Maker's Call(su).

Maker’s Call (Su): (current Range: 400'; 2/day): At 6th level, as a standard action, a summoner can call his eidolon to his side. This functions as dimension door, using the summoner’s caster level. When used, the eidolon appears adjacent to the summoner (or as close as possible if all adjacent spaces are occupied). If the eidolon is out of range, the ability is wasted. The summoner can use this ability once per day at 6th level, plus one additional time per day for every four levels beyond 6th.

Just wondering here. Can Teric 'claim' Tomasz as long lost family? The mother carried the illegitimate child out of the country over two decades ago. Jing, looks like you can get out easily after posing as Tomasz. How would we account for being 2 bodies down when the orderlies come back? (ie yourself and Seldanna if she teleports Tomasz out).

I like Jing's plan. I think they'll be more concerned with losing a patient than not keeping track of the visitors. The first thing after a visit would be to check on the patient. Teric and Fendel could engage the orderlies enough to distract them.

Yeah, I like the various teleport shenanigans. Might be overkill for a mundane hospital, but it's fun.

So, we get the straight jacket off Tomasz, Seldanna takes herself and Tomasz out, we put the straight jacket somewhat convincingly on Jing, then the rest of us leave out the front door. Once we're clear and possibly after the orderlies have seen that someone is still in the room, Jing does his switch and then calls Kiboko to him.

Then we abscond!
