You turn and listen at the south east door (at the bottom left corner) and for a moment you think you hear some small sounds but after a moment you stop and take a few minutes to listen some more and confident you are only hearing random noises you open the door. This room is the same as the other room. A bed...in really bad shape, an end table, a small copper candle holder, and a floor that is in poor shape with a roof to match.

You walk to the two remaining doors and repeat your actions above and each room is the same but the two rooms farther north are in worst condition and the roofs and floors are in poor shape compared to the first two. The smell of mildew is really bad on the north end of the hall as well.

"Perhaps this is not the place, or perhaps that was a ruse all along?" Edril suggests. "We could ask about some more, or speak to the guard. They might know more about the disappearances."

"Talking the guard was also my next thought. It should not be hard to come back to this area quickly at night as that is likely when they will be abducting people if there is any truth to the rumours. If we feel the need to dot the 'I's."

You open the door and it creaks and squeaks loudly...so much so that everyone gives you a look as if the door screaming in protest is your fault.

The door opens into a hall room of sorts. There is a door on the opposite end that is in horrible shape and a few cracks on the top edges where the door has swollen and shrunk over time lets day light spill into the room in small beams. You can hear the waves crashing against the sea wall as well. The room itself has a large foyer table of sorts on the west (top) wall. It is covered in light dust and cobwebs as is the small round table to the southwest corner covered in thick coating of cobwebs and dust. There is also a tall trunk/cabinet of drawers made of a slimier wood and also covered in a thick amount of dust and cobwebs...the floor has scattered amounts of dust and debris in the room as well.

Keezheekoni steps out of the room and looks back to the others. "This room is looking empty and uninteresting. Perhaps we should be thinking of another plan."

Tiarsus Kelquinal - BOTTED

Tiarsus looks around the room and to both of the men searching the rooms and halls. [b]"I agree with Edril and Alistar. This doesn't appear to be of any benefit to us and the guard might be a better course of action."[b] He wipes off his hand on his pants after touching a dirty chair covered in damp dust and mildew.

Arturr snorts at this empty place. "Yeah the guards are nice. I hate slavers. Hopefully they can point us in the right direction so I can knock some sense into the bastards that would dirty my city with that trade.

Keezheekoni nods in agreement, but then adds, "We should make sure to be back here before nightfall. This was the timing that was told to us about when the slavers were active in this area."


As the group makes its way out the abandon tavern you notice that Estel is speaking to one of the groundsman from the Pathfinder Lodge. He seems to be having a very in depth discussion as the rest of you come out.

As your group walks up you can hear the man and Estel talking. "You should go to the lodge. We will make arrangements to get you back to the Mordant Spire as quickly and safely as possible." Estel sees your group coming up to the two of them and nods. "Sorry bout that. I need to leave I have a family matter I need to attend to and it appears it is important. I will try to make my way back once I attend to my family."


Knowing the secrecy that Spire Elves espouse, Edril takes Estel at his word, it will also help in the future not having to worry about the confusion that can arrive between Elves named Edril and Estel. "Be well, may the blessings of Findeladlara go with you and your community."

Estel says his farewells. He looks none to happy about having to leave but he follows his escort back to the lodge.

The rest of you take one more last look at the abandon tavern as people pass you by and you turn and make your way to the watch barracks. You make your way to the district of Lowcleft to seek information from the watch as the Arvensoar is the central location of the watch. The Arvensoar looms in the southern part of the city, high above the districts of Lowcleft and Naos. The tower itself is about 400 feet tall, with the lower portion built into the side of the Seacleft that splits the city in half. It takes you nearly an hour to make your way into the district and to the tower. The front entry of the Arvensoar stands before you. Two guards are on the street in front of the entry gate. Both are alert and asking questions of any one that wants entry.


Being more at home in this situation, Edril approaches the guards. "Greetings, I am Edril of the Pathfinder Society, my companions and I are seeking information related to kidnappings and possible slave trading. Might there be someone we could ask questions of?"

He gives his standard smile, which while not particularly exceptional is honest.

Inside the Tower - Krystal

Krystal, fuming as she sits on the wooden stool looks at the locked door that the watch officer just walked out and locked. Part of her is mad at the fact the women locked the door and told her to "cool her heels!". What the hell does she know! After a few more moments she realizes the entire conversation went south when she let it become personal.

She wasn't sure what was true and what wasn't true at this point. She had heard so many different rumors but now this new information from the watch seems to clear up a lot of questions. But there was still that meeting tonight...at that Pelican tavern...I need to figure that out but if it is all fake how is this rumor fit into it all?

She hears a few people walk by...she listens and from the sounds of it guards taking a drunk man that caused a commotion and some damage into the jail. I wonder how long I have to sit here before they let me go?!

The other guard gives him a smile. Kasadei talked to the last one. Haven't seen her come out again. He smiles.

The older guard waves you through. The younger one, Benny, adds Our watch officers are busy so it might be a while before one of them can talk to ya.

The older one chuckles at that. Hope you brought something to chew on might be a while.

Edril turns and waves to the group. The five of you pass as the guards look you over. As you walk into the entry and right before what looks like a hall two more guards ask for your weapons and give you a token as they store them in another smaller room. They only take the bigger weapons so if you have a knife or dagger it is still on your person. Once you are done securing your weapons you find an entry hall with several benches. The hall is empty except for your group.

Well... that could have gone better.

A Mwangi woman had her arms crossed in frustration as she was seated next to a table, thinking about what to do next.

It wasn't that officer's fault her nose was as crooked as it was. Then again, she probably shouldn't have said she was dumber than an ogre. Or that she would struggle at basic math. Or that she couldn't pay her enough to get her to kiss her, and she's Calistrian for gods sake.

Okay, so pissing off a ranking officer was a bad idea, and now she's stuck in this room with nothing but to fume about losing her cool. At this point, she was desperate to see anything to distract her from her plight. Perhaps it could be from that very door...

As you walk by the two at the front gate you hear the one called Benny say that someone else had been asking about Slavers and missing people and that the girl got in trouble with the duty officer. Something about losing their temper and telling the duty officer they were as dumb as an ogre... The other guard said something to the effect of "Yea and she ain't come back out...so how did that go?!"

They won't let you in the entry hall with anything bigger than a dagger. A staff would be fine.

The more senior guard in front of the entry hall tells you. "It's cut down on all the fighting... Especially from you hot headed Shoanti!" He finishes saying it and looks at you (up) and gives you a quick smile as if to say that was in jest.

The guard rounds up all your weapons and puts in them in one locker and locks it. He gives you a wooden token with the number 125 on it. He hands it to Alistar. "Don't lose that, it will take a watch officer and you identifying your weapons to get them back along with a lot of paperwork."

He thinks about Alistar's request. "Ask for Kasadei, she is one of the watch officers on duty. I hear she spoke to the girl."

Alistar will for look for the Kasadei. "Excuse me? I'm looking for Kasadei."


Alistar notices that the entry room seems to serve as a waiting room of sorts. On the other side is a hall and there is a iron barred wall with a door. At the door on the other side is a podium with guard behind it. As Alistar walks up to ask him this question he seems to ignore you at first. Then he looks up and then back at his log book.

"You will have to have a seat. She is busy at the moment. I will let her know you want to speak to her."


Nearly thirty minutes go by and the guard at the podium as walked off and back to his position several times. In mean time the guards at the front of the entry room have changed and at least four more people are in the entry hall and at least two more have been given permission to walk into the watch area.

Alistar expects they are getting the runaround but is willing to stick it out.

Someone want to charm our way in?


As your group sits in the waiting hall another thirty minutes go by. Two of the four people waiting are called back and six or seven more people come in. Three or four people go out and leave.

The old guard sitting at the podium behind the bars looks up at you and a few of the other people in the waiting area. A younger guard comes up to him and speaks to him for a bit.

He calls out a strange name and a older man...probably a merchant or craftsman pops up and walks over to the gate. They chat and the guard opens the door and lets him in and locks the door behind him. You see him continue to walk down the hall into some sort of open area with lots of people...mostly guards and people at desks.

Arturr fidgets, standing with his back leaned against the wall. He is not a very patient half orc. "Anyone else feel like we're being ignored outright?" he asks angrily.

He storms up to the guard behind the bars. "Hey old man! What's the hold up?"


The guard, a man in his fifties, snaps back at you. "The watch officers are busy. When one frees up they will call for you! Until then you will need to wait your turn!" It is apparent he no more likes to be at this podium babysitting the door than you like waiting for your turn.

Arturr grinds his teeth a bit. "Sir, in the time we've been here, ten other people have come in and been assisted. It seems to me that our turn has come and gone near a dozen times over. So perhaps the Watch Officers have some problem with us and I'd like to know if that is true so we can address it."


The guard looks down the hall to the other room and back at Arturr. "Requests are handled based on their importance and who is attending to the matter. Best you take your rump and put it on that bench by your friends."


Krystal hears someone come up to the door and start to unlock it. As they seem to unlock the door another set of footsteps can be heard and then some talking behind the door.

Perception DC12:

You hear some talking between a male guard and female guard. It is mumbled but the female guard sounds like your watch officer.

You hear both pairs of foot steps wander off in different directions.

Perception DC15:

"Ma'am there a people out in the waiting hall asking for you. Also, they were asking about the missing people." There is pause and then a women's voice...you recognize it as the watch officer you offended. There seems to be long sigh and some cursing..."Very well. We need to put these rumors to bed for good. Bring them into the second interrogation room I will head there now. This one can wait a bit longer while I attend to this other group."

You hear both pairs of foot steps wander off in different directions.

Another twenty minutes are so go by and Alistar and Arturr see a guard walk down the hall and speak to the older guard at the podium.

The older guard turns and puts his hand up as he looks at Alistar and waves him and your group over to the door. As your group makes it's way up to the gate he walks over to the door and unlocks it and lets your group pass. He counts how many come in and then locks the door and then notes how many entered on a log.

"Follow this guard and he will take you to meet with one of our watch officers." He looks at Arturr and gives him a grin. "See not long and now you can talk to someone."

The guard leads you back past a room full of desks and shelves filled with guards and bureaucrats of the watch doing all sorts of paperwork. He leads you down a hallway of which has four doors, two on each side, all the doors are closed. Each has a peek hole at eye level covered with small bars. They look like prison doors, as they are reinforced.

The guard opens a door on the left, the second door from the hall you just turned down. In the room is a wooden table with two chairs on each side of the long portion. There are four more chairs against the wall and a small table with a pitcher and four or five ceramic mugs.
