Browman's Untitled Campaign

Game Master Browman

1 to 50 of 52 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I am looking to run a V20 campaign starting in 1840 in England. All players will be newly turned clanless or Caitiff vampires so will be weaker than normal starting characters. At least initially your characters will not be aware of the Camarilla or the Sabbat or any other group of vampires. They won't even understand what it is to be a vampire as the game starts just after they have become vampires and they won't even know they are vampires to begin with.

Thus character creation is slightly different as you will basically be building a mortal character rather than a neonate vampire.

character creation:

Attributes
dots to spend 6/4/3

Abilities
dots to spend 11/7/4
Ranks in Drive affect riding horses
No ranks in Computers

Backgrounds
dots to spend 3

only the following backgrounds are available to begin with.
Allies
Alternate Identity
Contacts
Fame
Influence
Resources
Retainers (only mortal retainers)

Virtues
dots to spend 7
Willpower: Equal to Courage
Humanity: Equal to Conscience + Self-Control

Freebie points 10

Freebie Point Costs
Attribute 5 per dot
Ability 2 per dot
Background 2 per dot
Virtue 2 per dot
Humanity 2 per dot
Willpower 2 per dot

I am looking for up to 4 players and recruitment will stay open until 4PM EST next Wednesday.

Feel free to ask any questions you have.

DOT for interest. Will try to have a submission ready for tomorrow.

Dotted for interest. will work on a submission.

My submission.

Henry Aketer:

Concept: Industrial Entrepreneur

Henry grew up a farmer in Middlesex just south of London. By a twist of fate, his father passed and his mother, a beautiful woman, married into a family of artisans in London retaining the family farm. His step father having no children of his own doted on Henry and was convinced by Henry when he turned 18 that the Aketer family farm would be a good place to begin building a cotton mill to rival the fast growing Lancashire mill trade.

Henry spent 8 years building the business and it has become moderately successful. Just this past week his fortunes have altered, a man who was seeking to do business with Henry paid a visit to the farm house, now office and home of Henry.

The bloody cunt attacked Henry and bit him on the damn neck when the negotiations turned sour, after all why should Henry give up a portion of his business for such a small capital infusion! Henry blacked out and woke up the next day feeling quite ill, he could not hold down for or drink. He even felt ill, as if he was burning up as the sun rose. He has called for a Dr. from London to come out and see him about his condition as he feels he is rapidly deteriorating and has been having strange… desires whenever his employees visit him on the house!

No Merits or Flaws?

No Merits or Flaws?

Merits and flaws are fine as long as you can justify why you would have them as a mortal or as part of the embrace.

I think you might have missed the change in cost of freebie backgrounds to 2 points. I like the background but the embrace itself probably shouldn't be covered as it is how I will tie all the players together.

Dotting for interest.

@Browman - What part of England were you thinking of starting the game in? London? Something more rural?

The campaign will start in a rural area near Birmingham. Thought your character can easily be from anywhere in England, or even from somewhere else if they have a good backstory and reason to be in England. The start of the campaign will handle getting all the players together as long as they are in England.

Yep, somehow I missed that part about 2 per dot.

Will amend and amend the background to a mere attack and move on as if it were just an odd incident.

I'll admit I've got some interest in this.

I don't really know much about London during the 1840s--will that be a problem?

It shouldn't be a huge problem.

Indeed the Merits and Flaws are more akin to Vampires than mortals so at this point perhaps under the Embrace depending on the circumstances I might revisit but for now I like the submission as is.

Here's my submission Billy Hawkins.

When I get home I may look through the merits and flaws to see if anything is appropriate/appealing. If I do bother, anything taken will be a zero sum (i.e equal points merits and flaws)

I can recommend Talomyr as an excellent Vampire player ST Browman!

Thanks for the vote of confidence ST Shadow! I think you'll find Billy to be a significantly different animal than Lorenzo. :)

Well, I've built a character that I'm happy with for now.

Meet Miles Thorne: a recent graduate of the University of Cambridge, taking a trip out to rural Birmingham for his grandma's birthday.

I haven't used up his last freebie point yet--I'm planning on giving him the Eat Food merit once he's Embraced.

Nice, Giovanni extended family tree :-)

Now that I'm back in front of a computer I have to whole-heartedly recommend Storyteller Shadow.

Even though I have not been in a Vampire game with him as player, I can say he is one hell of a storyteller who has been able to provide a distinct voice to all of his numerous NPCs for his Dark Ages game in which I am fortunate enough play. Even if I am not selected for this game I would have to read along just to what he does when he only has one character to play. :)

On a side note: Booo to the Giovanni! Nothing personal Nuson, just a result of being a Cappadocian in Storyteller Shadow's game for a number of years. :)

Scarab Sages

Dot me curious

I love the Cappadocians so no hard feelings from me. And honestly with the fact that they brought the barrier down in 2005. You could run a modern night game of a Cappadocian from within Kaymalki waking up and embracing several neonates to try and find out more about the modern world since he had been imprisoned for thousands of years.

Looks good, I see no issues with you having the eat food merit.

That could make life very interesting, where did you find the cannibal merit? I couldn't find it in my book.

Lore of Clans v20
Ic an copy it on here but in general it says I can each human meat, cooked, fried, etc and gain blood points from the consumption of the meat in addition to the normal way.

Basically a human body can provide up to 7 helpings of meat and for every helping I eat I gain a single blood point.

I thought the Harbingers of Skulls didn't embrace?

I'm not sure about that, really. I don't think there's anything stopping them from doing so...

I looked through the various V20 merits and flaws (and even some from Victorian Age Vampire) and didn't see anything that moved the needle, so my submission is complete as is.

they don't but there were a few Cappadocians who went into torpor and either they hide themselves very well or had Protean enough to meld into the ground. In 2005 a Gangrel broke the barrier that locked them in there. So from then on you could write a chronicle about some archaeologist coming into that part of Kaymalki and accidentally releasing those vampires from torpor, perhaps while digging up bones they find a vampire skull and they prick their finger on the tooth, a drop of blood falls to the ground and the starving Cappadocian that has been proteaned into the earth arises and devours the entire group, starving for blood.

Such options could work and would probably be a very interesting campaign.

Well its a free idea to work with if you ever have the mind of a campaign to reintroduce the Cappadocian line.

Nuson where did you find the cannibal merit?

Lore of the Clans V20. Its a newer V20 book. It has history and information on each clan as well as merits that work really well with each clan. Cannibal is under Giovanni because of the Dunsirn Giovanni connection.

What it does is explain those with this merit can eat human meat, however it is prepared and keep it down. But not just keep it down but gain blood from it. It explains that each human body has seven servings of human meat in it. For each serving devoured you gain an additional blood point.

So in theory if I took a human and drained them of all their blood I would get roughly 10 points of blood. If I stored the body of this person and ate it later I could get an additional 7 points of blood.

Ah, I haven't read through all of that supplement

...I think Miles is going to lose his lunch if he witnesses you doing that...

which only makes things more interesting

Dragoncat wrote:

But this is so much better. We can take a mortal, and pass them around till they are drained then I can eat them to hide the body. This way 1 person could feed 2-3 vampires possibly 4 if you each only take something like 3 points.

O_o

Now I think *I'm* going to lose my lunch...

except not really

The Needs of the Many my friend. If we all gorge out on 1 person, we spare 3 others. Seems pretty good to me. Also we can try and find murderers or whatever. Someone pick up Auspex dang it.

That might end up being me--I built Miles to be focused more on info-gathering & knowledges.

This is the giovanni we are talking about, they take being weird and creepy to places even other kindred are uncomfortable with.

What? We eat people. The rest of the extended family marry each other, sleep with each other, screw corpses, etc. I am by far the most normal of the bunch!

Given the lack of new submissions I will be closing recruitment 2 days early. Recruitment will close 4PM EST Monday.

I may not have a chance to get the first post up until sometime Tuesday, but things will get going slightly sooner than they would have otherwise.

Alrighty then!

Sweet

So is the group so far Rory, Miles, Billy, and Henry?

Assuming no other characters get submitted yes. But given that at least one other person expressed interest interesting there could be people who were interested but hadn't posted I thought it was a better idea to still give people a bit of notice that it was closing early.
