Kibrenest huddles in the brush, somewhat secure in his shield, with the bright dogs making him quite wary. Those dogs look dangerous, and they're sniffing an awful lot. I better take care of them before they get to Shishka and Rellen. Then we can fade back and really take care of these turalisj goblins.

Shishka takes advantage of Rellen's distraction and immediately starts to sing a lullaby. The two Hobgoblins and Hellhounds at the front line are focused on Rellen and don't pay any attention to her, but many of the others aren't so lucky. Two of the sword and shield bearing hobgoblins (#3 and #4) succumb to the lullaby, as do three of the archers (#6, 7, 8). They look ready to fall asleep on their feet. While they are somewhat incapacitated, Shishka prepares her gun for the impending battle.

Concerned that the Hellhounds were not affected by Shishka's sweet song, Kibrenest decides to take one of them out, and fires two quick shots at it (Hellhound #1). The dog takes heavy damage, and growls in response, feeling confident that it knows where the shots came from. It charges towards the bushes. The dog opens its mouth and breathes fire over the entire bush. Kibrenest takes 8 damage, Reflex DC 14 to halve it.

Edgar dismounts from his horse a distance away from the hobgoblins. Close enough to see what's happening, but still at a distance to be safe. He gauges the first group of hobgoblins, which seem to be half-asleep, and turns his attention to the second group. There he sees what appears to be the leader of the tribe, a hobgoblin taller than the others, sporting a mace in one hand, and a banner in the other. Edgar sees that the symbol on the banner is exactly as the High Priest has said. Without pause, Edgar mumbles a prayer and waves his hands, conjuring a sword that slices into the enemy cleric.

The first Hobgoblin, who Shishka had sang to, looks into the surrounding bushes for her, but sees nothing. He has a very bad feeling about what's going on here, though he has no idea how anyone could have known they were coming. He starts looping around the side to scour some of the bushes.

One of the Hobgoblin Archers (#7) shoots up at Rellen but overshoots horribly, his arrow flying benignly off into the distance.

Rellen fires at two hobgoblin archers in rapid succession #5 and #6. The first arrow finds a gap in the archer's armour and penetrates his lung. Gasping to breathe as his body fills with blood, the hobgoblin staggers, but surprisingly, stays standing. While he's not dead, the blood pouring from his body suggests that he soon will be. The second arrow cuts into the gut of the other archer. While he's rather wounded, he's still able to fight.

The second frontline Hobgoblin (#2) follows the Hellhound to the flaming bushes and peers through the flames to see what's hiding in there, noticing Kibrenest.

The remaining two hobgoblins with swords are still half-asleep from the lullaby, and with the amount of chaos happening (A hippogriff raining arrows down, a flaming bush, and oh hey, our leader is being attacked by a mystical sword) they can't quite figure out what to focus on. One (#3) ends up following one of the others towards the bushes to sweep them, while the other (#4) yells curses up at Rellen.

After seeing the first archer fail miserable to shoot Rellen, the other two (#6, #8) choose a larger target and aim for Arrow, hoping to bring him down to the ground where the others can just stab him with swords, like Hobgoblins love to do. They both manage to hit the large beast. Rellen, make a ride check to not be thrown off

The second hellhound tries to pick up the scent of Shishka, but she's so well hidden in the bushes that he comes up with nothing, and moves closer to continue sniffing.

From what I understood Sznek is close enough to the dangerous looking hobgoblins at the back to kick their ass. So here goes! In case I'm not close enough yet I'll activate the quick runners shirt to get an extra move action to close then full attack. Activating controlled rage rage for +4 to dex and the crowd control ability (+1 to AC and to hit). As theirs 2 enemies Sznek will target the first until it drops and then apply the remainder of his attacks to the second. Note should an opponent drop the crowd control bonus disappears.

Sznek watches the battle unfolding before him and while he has learned to keep away when the big ones fight his massive disdain for Hobgoblin kind takes the better of him. Cursing the hobgoblins in their native tongue the small warrior rushes forward and pounces the nearer of the Hobgoblins.

Edgar scans the group of hobgoblins. He cannot tell who exactly they are in contest with, but he decides to tie them up. He begins mumbling another prayer to keep one of the hobgoblins pinned in place, in hopes of keeping the advantage on the side of the smaller defending group. As he does so, the spiritual blade continues to assault the standard bearer.

Mechanics:

Edgar is using Hold Person. If there's a hobgoblin who looks like he might be a body guard or champion (I don't know if Edgar can tell from this distance) then I'd like to target him. Our team seems to have the advantage at range so I'm trying to tie up their melee options. Will Save DC 15 to avoid paralysis.

The spiritual weapon will strike again.

Having exposed Kibrenest in the bushes, the Hellhound (#1) moves forward to bite him, intending to deal fire damage as he does so. But as the hound lunges forward, Kibrenest leaps backwards, firing his bow as he does. The shot nicks the Hellhounds leg, dealing very little damage, but succeeding in making the Hellhound irritated.

As the second group of Hobgoblins begins to react to their comrades being ambushed, they themselves get him from being out of nowhere by an incredibly fast goblin. Moving like the wind, he slices clear through one of the hobgoblins (#12). The hobgoblin hits the ground in two pieces with a splat. Without pausing, he turns and slashes at another one (#11). When his claw fails to pierce the goblin's armour, he becomes enraged and sinks his teeth into it, causing the Hobgoblin to let out a blood-curdling scream.

Shishka throws her voice to the other side of the woods, causing one of the Hellhounds (#2) and one of the Hobgoblins (#3) searching for her to wander off and search in empty bushes. The first Hobgoblin (#1) refuses to fall for such a ruse, and continues to search for her, but still cannot find her. (For f@%%s sakes Hobgoblins, learn to roll.)

Assuming that his spiritual weapon has the Hobgoblin Cleric taken care of, Edgar turns his attention to the Hobgoblin dual-wielder, who is turning towards Sznek. Edgar attempts to paralyze the Hobgoblin, but it doesn't seem to have any affect. The Bladebearer laughs, moving forward to strike at Sznek. The first swing misses, but the second catches the tiny goblin as he leaps. (Sznek takes 9 damage) Meanwhile, the Cleric ducks out of the way of Edgar's spiritual weapon. Edgar stares in disbelief as the Cleric waves his hands and instantly vanishes.

While Rellen begins to fly further back to get himself some distance, one of the Archers (#7) takes a shot at him but misses. Rellen circles Arrow around and shoots rapidly back to the archer, but he misses as well.

The two Hobgoblin Archers in the second grouping (#9, #10) turn and fire their bows at Edgar, catching him square in the chest. Edgar takes 16 damage

Staring down at the arrow sticking out of his lung, the Hobgoblin (#5) tries to decide what to do. 'Do I take out or leave in?' Beats of sweat form on his forehead as he tries to remember what he's supposed to do. He decides to rip the arrow out. Blood spurts out and, as the world goes dark, he thinks he may have made the wrong decision.

The other two archers in the first group (#6, #8) also decide to take shots at Rellen. Rellen, you moved back 110 feet to try to make them take penalties. I think it's fair to say that Rellen knows bows: They are using Composite Longbows, which have a range of 110 feet, so you won't get them that way. You could move further away, but you run the risk of missing as well. One of the archers manages to hit. Rellen takes 4 damage.

The final two hobgoblins, (#2 and #4) move to explore the bushes as well. One of them (#2) sees Kibrenest where the bush has burned and heads in that direction, though it will take him time to get there. The other one doesn't see a damned thing, because Hobgoblins are stupid as hell. I'm convinced that the dice are on your side.

Rellen seeing the arrow winging towards him flings himself to the side using his legs to stay in the saddle as the arrow goes wide of the mark.

Pulling himself back up into the saddle he fires a single shot at the injured archer, but it to bounces off his foes armor to Rellen's great frustration.

Aggravated at the failure of his spell, Edgar began moving toward the fray. As he moved he mumbled a blessing on himself that he hoped would keep more arrows from hitting him in the future. The arrows burned in his chest and the pain in his leg certainly wasn't helps and after a short distance he was forced to try to dig into some cover. Almost as an afterthought, he had the blade of force turn and attack the hobgoblin with the swords.

"It's been too long..." he mumbled to himself.

Edgar is casting Shield of Faith on himself and moving thirty feet. Assuming the horse is trained, he will probably follow behind him. If it does not, he'll let it run free as it is probably at least trained to return home.

Edgar would like to find any cover he can from the arrows.

Edgar's sword, if it exists, will turn to attack the bladebearer.

Well, here are your best bets for taking out a group: Hellhound #2 and Hobgoblins #3 and #4 are searching the wrong area of the bushes. You have a Hellhound in front of you #1, and another Hobgoblin headed that way #2. There is a group of three archers, #6,7,8 which are all shooting at Rellen. A bomb directed at anyone in those groups would affect the others.

The first Hellhound (#1) takes another bite at Kibrenest but his jaws close on empty air. Kibrenest tries to shoot the dog in the face, but misses as the dog pulls back. To onlookers, the two appear to be playing rather than fighting.

Across the battlefield, there's a small goblin who isn't playing. Standing in front of a large hobgoblin wielding two swords, he grins and moves rapidly. He jumps up, smashing his head into the hobgoblin's face, and slices on the way down, knocking him backwards and cutting both his arms clean off. Then he leaps forward again and sinks his teeth into its throat, and tears it out.

As the second hobgoblin (#2) closes in on Kibrenest, planning to give the Hellhound some support, Shishka tosses a bomb over at them and then ducks behind some more bushes. The Hellhound is spry and avoids taking most damage (Hellhound #1 takes 4), but the Hobgoblin is not so lucky. (-8 HP) Unfortunately for Shishka, she doesn't disappear into the bushes fast enough, and the Hobgoblin calls to his comrades: "Gnome here you damn fools."

Edgar starts closing in to the battle field, while his sword takes a swing at one of the remaining hobgoblins and clinks against its armor.

The Hobgoblin Archer (#7) fires at Rellen again, this time catching him, or so he thinks. Rellen maneuvers while in the air and the arrow goes right by. The goblin curses as a returned arrow comes from Rellen and lands at his feet.

The latter two archers (#8, #9) fire at Arrow, hoping once again to knock the troublesome human down. The first misses terribly but the second hits. Arrow takes 6 damage

When Shishka had popped up to throw the bomb, she exposed herself to a Hobgoblin (#1) who now makes a step forward and swings his sword at her, but catches only bushes.

The two hobgoblin archers in the second group (#9, #10) start noticing their numbers drop rapidly, and turn from shooting at the approaching Edgar to shoot instead at Sznek, but because of proximity and how fast he is moving, they both miss.

Hobgoblin (#11) dropped his shield to clutch at his throat from where Sznek had bit it and now enraged, takes a furious swing at the little goblin, but hits nothing but air.

Having a better idea of where Shishka is, the Hellhound (#2) and Hobgoblins (#3, #4) move away from where they heard the sound and run across to where another Hobgoblin (#1) searches.

Sznek rips the Hobgoblin warrior to shreds with his bare hands... actually he'd like to keep some alive for questioning but there were so many left he could kill a few of the ugly monsters that called themselves goblins first and then worry about the details later.
He deftly dodges a clumsy sword swing and is all over his assailant in the blink of an eye.

There is one more sword and shield hobgoblin where you are, but there is also the Cleric (who is currently invisible) and two archers.

Oh... this is going to hurt... I'm aware of at least one attack of opportunity coming his way, probably two. Throwing a bomb at Hob #7.

Kib's current AC from Shield: (AC18/T17/FF15)

Kibrenest looks at the angry dog in front of him and the Hobgoblin fast approaching. He also sees the archers trying to make a pin cushion out of Rellen and Arrow. He moves within range of the archers and throws a bomb.

If he's freed up, he can give us air support against these damn fire dogs. That'll free us up nicely.

If so Sznek will then go after guy with the shield next. Also all attacks should be at +1 and his AC as well then...

Edgar trudges along, covering another section of ground as he brings out his short bow. He looks over where his sword is still fighting next to... no... not just next to, alongside, a raging goblin. Confusing as this is, Edgar directs his sword to continue striking at the archers.

Hellhound (#1) takes another bite at Kibrenest, but misses yet again as Kibrenest dashes out from behind the bush, tossing a bomb as he does so. The bomb rolls into the group of archers and explodes. Hobgoblin #7 takes 9 damage One of the Hobgoblins manages to dive out of the way, only taking half damage, while the other is caught in the blast. Hobgoblin #6 takes 5 damages, Hobgoblin #8 takes 9 damage.

Sznek turns to the Hobgoblin that he had already wounded (#11) and took a slash through him, finishing him off. He turns and slashes wildly, catching one of the Archers (#10) through the gut. Takes 14 damage.. Reminded that he wants to keep one alive, he turns to the other Archer (#9) and gores him so hard that the hobgoblin's head explodes.

Shishka fires her pistol right into the Hobgoblin in front of her (#2), knocking him backwards with the blast. Hobgoblin #2 takes 10 damage and falls onto his back, dazed, but not dead.

Edgar looks at the small goblin, surprised and somewhat worried to see how easily it slashes through the hobgoblins twice its size. Edgar fires his bow at the remaining archer, but misses. His sword does not, however. (Hobgoblin #10 takes 3 damage)

The cluster of Hobgoblin archers, stunned by Kibrenest's bomb, but still alive, begin to exchange arrows with Rellen. The first (#7) misses. Rellen shoots at one of the other archers (#6), catching him through the eye and killing him instantly. The final archer fires at Rellen, barely hitting him. Rellen takes 5 damage

Kibrenest dodges an attack from a Hobgoblin (#2) Shishka is not so lucky, and gets hit by an attack that cuts through the bushes. Shishka takes 5 damage from Hobgoblin #1. The Hellhound (#2) that came with it searches the bushes for her but cannot seem to locate her.

All alone, standing amidst his fallen comrades, the severely wounded hobgoblin archer (#10) takes his last action to try to avenge his fallen brethren. But he is so weak that he can't even hold his bow level, and his arrow fires harmlessly into the dirt.

Two hobgoblins in the first group search the bushes for Shishka, buuuuut of course they can't find her. That little gnome is clever.

Throwing the bomb at the archers left Kibrenest terribly exposed to the hellhound (#1), who turned and took a bite out of his leg. Kibrenest let out a yell as the flames coming off the dog instantly cauterizing the wound. He turned and shot at the hellhound, but the pain in his leg distracted him and his shot did minimal damage. Kibrenest luckily only takes 7 damage. The hellhound takes 2 damage

Raising her gun but shaking a little bit, Shishka tries to fire a shot off into the hobgoblin that stabbed her, but he moves out of the way and she misses. Cursing, she begins to reload.

Sznek grins as the Cleric's magic fails on him. Seeing that Rellen and Edgar are approaching to take care of the cleric, he begins dashing to the other group of hobgoblins and hellhounds, which appear to be traumatising a gnome and kobold.

Edgar's bow misses wide to the side, and his sword clangs against the Hobgoblin's chain mail. Cursing he prepares to make another shot, but before he can, Rellen lets fly two shots that tear clear through the cleric face. (Cleric is very dead)

As Edgar closes in, two archers (#7, #8) fire at him. The shots penetrate through his armour, and tear through muscle and bone alike. Rellen falls to the ground, wounded. (Edgar takes 11 Damage. I believe this drops him down to 4 HP, which is pretty damn hurt, but still kicking)

Staggeringly near death, the only remaining hobgoblin in group 2 (#10) lifts up his bow to shoot at Rellen, hoping that taking down the pesky human will be the last chance he has to do something good in his life. He pulls the bow string back, and releases. As the arrow sails off into the distance, he knows that he has failed.

With considerably fewer people on the battlefield, the hobgoblins are having an easier time finding where each other is, and where their efforts are needed.

The four remaining hobgoblins split into groups, annoyed that they haven't been able to kill a gnome and a kobold. For a brief moment, they're glad that there commander is dead, because he'd be furious at their sheer incompetence.

Two of the Hobgoblins (#1 and #2) swing at Shishka but she jumps back and both miss. The other two (#3 and #4) both see Kibrenest and run towards him, their weapons ready.

The Hellhound seems to have a hard time with bushes, but as he turns he sees Sznek racing towards the group. With a growl, he starts racing towards the goblin.

We only have a few hobgoblins left alive, and most of them are pretty wounded. We should have this wrapped up soon!

Hellhound #1 Bite Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Hellhound #1 Bite Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (4) = 8

Kibrenest staggers backwards, practically dropping his bow as he reaches for his sword. The hellhound closes in with two hobgoblins close behind, its jaws snapping in anticipation. Kibrenest knows that the end is near, but he grasps the hilt of his sword, determined not to go down without a fight. The hobgoblins and hellhound all make attacks at Kibrenest. Kibrenest takes another 10 damage.

Edgar looks at Sznek charging across the field towards the kobold, gnome, and what Edgar can now clearly see is a human who had been riding on a hippogriff. The archers (#7 & #8) have a clear shot at Sznek though, or, they will if he doesn't do something.

Yelling at them in Common, Edgar stands to his feet and is encompassed in a golden ring of light. While the hobgoblins aren't fluent in Common, they know when they're being taunted, and they both turn towards Edgar. He braces himself for their shots.

Before they can fire at Edgar, Sznek runs up from behind them, completely ignoring the Hellhound who is coming towards him, and slits both of their throats. As he's doing so, Rellen leaps down from the sky, putting two arrows through the Hellhound.

Shishka raises her gun, shooting at one of the two hobgoblins (#1) in front of her, and catching him in the midsection. The hobgoblin has had enough of this game, and he shakes off the blast and raises his sword high, bringing it down across Shishka's chest. (Shishka takes 16 damage)

Left Alive & Placements:
Our battlefield formation currently is something of a triangle, with the point facing to the south.

To the left we have a single Archer from Group 2 who was left alive. He's low on health and is not looking too great. He's probably too wounded to even be able to escape.

At the closest point to the south we have Edgar, still some distance away from both groups, but drawing their attention somewhat.

In the centre of the Triangle we have Sznek and Rellen.

To the right we have two small groups. In one we have Kibrenest and Arrow with Hobgoblins #3, 4, and a Hellhound between them. In the other we have Shishka, who fighting a losing battle against both Hobgoblins #1 and #2.

Both arrows were specifically targeting hellhound 2 Yorick, Arrow was making an attack on hellhound one and will hopefully draw it away. So if standard hell hounds I think 2 should be dead.

My adjustment was in the interests of keeping Kibrenest alive, but suit yourself. I've edited my last post.

My thoughts were that with a large sized hippogriff next to you and a small kobold five feet away you probably worry about the hippogriff. Arrow is decent on a full attack. I like the tactical aspect of PF and while I appreciate you looking out for us I prefer to win or lose on my own decisions. Since I felt both hounds were a danger to Kibrest I tried to neutralise both. I think if you want to intervene to safeguard him as a DM it would be much simpler to have the hellhound target Arrow who is both closer and more of a threat.

The Hobgoblin sword slices through Shishka's chest blood sprying out.

Shishka drops to her knees I forgot about the down side of adventuring

with a mental thought and a mumbled command word the second barrel of her gun is loaded.

she drops to her knees the grappling hook gun drops from her hand and she falls face first into the dirt. apparently dead.

swift action to reload second barrel
bluff to fake being killed by the sword swing: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 5 = 22
possible bonus for being a reasonable rouse?
+5 if the target want to believe you, I think he wants to believe I am dead

note the loaded pistol remains in her hand.

self, it's like I've always said. Heroes die quick. You din't prepare for the day, now we pay the price. Surrender to their "tender" mercies. right... Tsuralisj are always tender. I'll end up as some cut of meat. Well, here goes...

Kib will 5' away from the enemies using the brief reprieve to get one of his stock of potions, glad to have kept a few around, out of the haversack and drinking it. Move and standard actions

Potion of Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Almost drunkenly, he says to the hound, Sso, you think you're tough? I'll ssshow you...

This is hoping that he goes before the hound, and hoping his AC 18 holds true. At that point, he'll be at 10 HP.

Sznek has tasted blood and wants more but he finds no foes nearby. seeing the Gnome fall to it's death he bounds forward and rams into the Hobgoblin that cut her down mountain goat style!

Mechanics:
Sznek sees Shishka getting killed so he'll move to attack the hobgoblin attacking her. So my action will be move and a single natural attack, which should be made with the horns using reckless abandon/rage and piranha strike. Gore1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19 damage 1d6 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

The two hobgoblins (#1, #2) cheer, believing the gnome to be dead. Such brave creatures to triumph over the death of a little girl. They are so wrapped up in their excitement that they don't notice Sznek coming up behind him. He slams right into the back of the first hobgoblin, shattering his spine and killing him instantly. The second hobgoblin is taken by surprise, and his attack against Sznek misses terribly. An arrow from Edgar flies through the air and secures itself in the hobgoblin's throat. Hobgoblins #1 and #2 both dead.

The hellhound takes another bite at Kibrenest but misses as the kobold backs up to take a gulp from a vial. Before Kibrenest has to worry about the Hellhound taking another shot, the hippogriff's beak tears through the back of the hellhound's neck, nearly severing its head. Rellen fires through the remaining two hobgoblins, crippling one.

Trying to speed this along a bit. There are three hobgoblins alive. Two are in front of Kibrenest and next to Arrow. The other is a remnant from Group 2. Anyone who takes a look can see him trying to limp away in the distance. Sznek had mentioned taking prisoners, but since he hasn't relayed that to anyone, act accordingly. Combat is just about over, this next round should be the final one, unless all of you miss every single attack.
