King of Talingarde

This thread will be the OOC discussion thread for members of The First Parchment. These include:

Morthos "The Malevolent" - Javell DeLeon
Haruk - Monkeygod
Beatrix - Count Buggula
Alazandru Viorec - Alexander Kilcoyne
Bostarg Halvardonwine - Mark Sweetman
Arvandes Ghael - Steven T. Helt

Feel free to dot and we can start to finalize chracter backgrounds and mechanics.

Liberty's Edge

Hello! Thanks for including me - I honestly wasn't expecting to be selected. As soon as I create a non-paladin, evil alias version of Bea I'll post that here as well for your approval.

Would you mind also listing what race and class each character is so we get an idea of who's who?

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Ok, so my rolls came out to exactly 25 pt buy, so I'll just use that instead.

King of Talingarde

I plan to update the Campaign Info tab with that in just a few moments as well for both Parchments. If I have anything listed wrong, just let me know.

King of Talingarde

First off a few notes on how I plan to run this shindig.

On the Campaign Info tab I plan to put links to links to each of your profiles, links to profiles of important NPCs as they come up, any maps I use, and anything else that strikes my fancy.

Under the NPC profiles I will have at minimum two sections, one for each Parchment (unless that NPC only affects one Parchment). The information for you parchment will include what information your group discovers. If it's spoilered to a specific person(s), that means that only that person knows this information.

For each person, please make sure your alias also includes your background information. It helps to have it in an easy to access location as we go through.

For combat, I will be grouping NPCs as much as possible to avoid any delays. As such, when it is your turn for combat, I will take your actions in the order they are posted within a group. So for example:

Villain A
Villain B
Villain C
Soldiers
Villain D

And Villain B posts first, his action will go first. If Villain D posted first, then Villan C, Villain C gets to go first since D is in the next group. If for some reason someone's action becomes invalid due to another player's action, I will either try to adapt it as best able or wait until you can repost.

All members of a group have 24 hours from my post stating it's their turn to act to post or I may either skip their turn or take their action for them. I don't actually expect to use this rule and will wait longer than 24 hours, except in extreme situations. Weekends are exempt of course.

I would appreciate it when you post your combat action, you list some basic info in a spoiler at the start of each turn. As an example format:

Round 1

Stats:

HP: 12/12
AC: 19 T11 FF 18
F/R/W: +4/+1/+3
Effects: None

This just makes it easier to keep track of things.

I think that's everything (though I'm sure I'm missing something). Any questions on your ends?

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Awesome that I got in! And thanks for takin Price and Cain as well, even if they're in the other group, I felt bad they got left out till I saw them in group two.

Just a note, the link for our discussion group takes you to the main page of Paizo, but clicking on the discussion tab takes one here.

Thanks for the props, Haruk.

Have fun stormin' the castle! :)

Appreciate the invitation. Full sheet and initial post tonight.

King of Talingarde

Based on questions I had asked and the backgrounds presented, I would like to offer a few suggestions to help things along and improve the overall story. These are only suggestions and are subject to your approval.

Haruk and Morthos:
The mention of Haruk converting Morthos to Asmodeus worship in prison was appealing. If I may be so bold as to recommend this, would it be possible for Morthos to not yet have found Asmodeus? Haruk's conversion would help to unify at least the two of you towards the beginning of the campaign. This is of course subject to both of you approving.

Haruk:
A recommendation for the group you had converted. After you had converted the three siblings, you learned that Sir Balin had been sent after you all. To this end you had set a trap for him. Things seemed to be going smoothly, until it was found out that Sir Balin had set a trap of his own. You do not know what happened to the three siblings, only that you were charged and sent to Branderscar.

Beatrix:
At present I have no specific recommendations on a definitive tie-in. On the other hand, I thought there were good RP possibilities with you in the mix. Having fallen as you have, and as a soldier, with at least one good individual looking to recruit others to there cause.

Avrandes:
The man who lead the attack against you, and ultimately executed Indigo, was Sir Balin of Karfield, the famous Witch Hunter.

Alazandaru:
I would actually like to add in a third apprentice to Sir Balin, a young man named Timeon. This is someone who you easily overshadowed at every moment, taken between the time Sir Balin took you on and the time he took Kovellus on. During the events of Kovellus's death, Timeon was away visiting family, though expected to soon return.

Bostarg:
The inquisitor who came knocking was Sir Balin of Karfield, if you have no problems with that.

Female Human Fighter (Two-Handed) 1

Stats complete for your approval

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Hi all and thanks for selecting me DM. Looking forward to getting started.

King Markadian:

Interesting, no problem i'll make a note of it.

With permission DM, i'd like to use a different method of keeping track of status for Alazandaru, at least most of the time. I'd like to keep his 'baseline' stats (so without any buffs or debuffs applied) in the parentheses and use that section to track my HP- and use a Status spoiler to indicate any changes to this default (gets fiddly editing it constantly but it works great for a baseline that rarely needs touching except for HP).

Count Buggala- Alazandaru's full profile is available for perusal, hes been built and ready to go from submission :). Human Rogue with the Knife Master and Scout archetypes.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Thanks for the selection, Markadian! I appreciate the opportunity. This is a heckuva group. Should be able to get the mechanics in place by tonight. (I hope.) :P

King Markadian:

Absolutely! I think that's perfect. I got no problem with that. But just to be clear--do you mean that Morthos's conversion is to be handled in game? Or is it meant to be understood that Haruk has already converted him while jailed--before the start of the thread?

King of Talingarde

@ Alazandaru, I'm fine with stats up there like that. As long as it's quick and easy to find, I have no problems.

Morthos & Haruk:
As long as Haruk is agreeable to it, in jail preferably, though if you'd both rather it be done before we can work that out as well. I just figure the conversion happening during the break and thereafter opens up some interesting RP scenarios (that may or may not involve others).

I'm going to start some character sheet audits for the crunchy bits. As soon as everything is in order I'll start the initial post and get this show on the road.

One last thing I noticed I missed is encumbrance. I really don't like keeping track of all the little bits people carry, so I usually don't keep track unless someone gets ridiculous. If you notice you're carrying 10 lbs too much and it will lower your AC and speed, that's fine, don't worry about it. If you have an 8 strength and are carrying 25 weapons, 3 suits of armor and 16,000 copper pieces, then I'll have a problem.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

KMV:

Cool. Sounds interesting.

Edit: Got Morthos done. Man, that was the fastest I've ever built a character. Like 5 minutes. It usually takes me forever. Not having to buy equipment and all that other stuff, sure makes it a lot easier.

I took skill focus as my bonus feat.

Let me know if there's something I might need to tweak somewhere. I'm up for suggestions.

Edit for a 2nd time; just under the gun: Got his backstory retweaked. Let me know if that's cool how I got it. Got no problem making additional changes, if necessary.

Not in use

Dotting up and will polish off the character over the next few hours. Thanks for the acceptance.

No issues with the spoiler - sounds fine to me and I'll update the background to suit.

King of Talingarde

Beatrix:
Looks good.

Alazandaru:
looks good.

Morthos:
Looks Good.

I'll review some more tomorrow morning (for now, sleep). This also gives Avrandes a chance to finish.

An interesting group. I eagerly observe.

Or in other words...dot.

Bostarg's alias should now be ready for your once over good King (after some well earned sleep :)

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

I use Herolab to track Alazandaru so it should all add up. Haven't worried about encumbrance with 18 strength and don't plan on ever going into a medium load.

King of Talingarde

Bostarg:
First off, I did a double take at that bluff. Nice job! I can see some fun happening with that.

Mechanics-wise didn't see anything.

The only thing I really have a question about is the Famous part of Demagogue. How were you planning on expressing your fame? For example, did you plan to set-up an alias for the fame to work off, or fame based on yourself? Did you plan for it to be fame itself, or possibly infamy? Instead of a settlement, would you rather place an emphasis on a specific group of people? Just looking for how you envisioned it.

King of Talingarde

I really need to buy Hero Lab at some point. If it had an iPad app (even to read the sheets) I probably would've done it already.

Sovereign Court

You can use custom outputs and save character sheets as .pdf's to view on Ipad.

King of Talingarde

Really? I thought it was only a custom formt. Well then I'll have to look into it again.

King of Talingarde

Haruk:
Looks good.

Sovereign Court

Outputting to .pdf's been around for ages- 'save .pdf of Hero'.

It really is an excellent product. The price tag usually makes people hesitant but I very rarely see someone who doesn't think its worth it once they actually make the purchase.

Not in use

King Markadian V:
Heh - I'm hoping the bluff should come in useful ;) Though Haruk gives me a run for my money with a +12 as well.

I would definitely see the Famous ability working off of an alias that Bostarg takes the role of - like he did in his backstory with the Halfling. The whole idea is that those he's influencing don't know that they're consorting with the enemy, they think he's one of their own - and he uses that against them.

I know the AP moves around a bit and goals change, but if possible I'd see it as something he can work on in whatever city we get set up in to influence a group within there. I see it not necessarily as fame as being able to fan the flames of discontent. It isn't about him specifically as much as what he focuses his misdirection upon.

I'm happy for it to not apply at all to start with; then when an opportune time comes for it's use we can discuss OOC how I might be able to leverage it (if at all).

King of Talingarde

Bostarg:
Sounds good to me. Since you're doing the AP as well, in Book I it'll be a hard ability to put into use until end of Act III, start of Act IV, but at that point, well, let's just say I'm eager to see what you pull!

Not in use

King Markadian V:
Yep - and really that's the sort of situation that I was thinking of when I put Bostarg together (plus some of Book II and from the sound of it a LOT of Book III). I also am eager :)

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Crap, i'm short my human bonus feat! Can't believe I missed that. Poor Herolab didn't know I was getting a free feat so it thinks everything is fine.

DM, i've used Cosmopolitan but really its just meant to represent the training Alazandaru had under Sir Balin; picking up Survival and Spellcraft from him. That and I love extra languages.

Edit: I picked up Dodge. Profile adjusted.

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Haruk is actually a character that I've had kickin around in games for years now, unfortunately none of them lasted very long. The basic premise has always been a sorcerer who family generations ago made a deal with devilkind and he was the ultimate outcome.

In most games, I tend to have him delve deeper into his Infernal heritage via the PrC Fiend-Blooded from Heroes of Horror and in one game where he was level 21, he had an Infernal variant of the Dragon Disciple.

Since this is strictly PF, I would like to have him go Diabolist from Book of the Damned I: Princes of Darkness, if that's ok.

King of Talingarde

I'm fine with that Haruk.

Sovereign Court

Any chance we can get a gameplay thread, even if only to dot it?

I do all my PbP from my campaigns tab and I have to keep digging around to find the discussion thread :P.

King of Talingarde

The gameplay thread is opened for dotting.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Done. Many thanks

King of Talingarde

Looks like we are just waiting on Arvandes at present. As soon as his character has been completed/reviewed, I'll start us off.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Alright, Arvandes. Don't make us off you before you get a chance to escape, pal. We'll sure do it, you know. We ain't the most fuzziest of warm-hearted people in here. :)

male human witch 1

Getting it done as we speak. Precious few avatars for my boy.

male human witch 1

I'm choosing spells now. Other than that, Arvandes is ready for your preusal. I will ask if we can hang onto a trait to be chosen later, since some traits require decisions to be made or spells to be chosen when you take them.

King of Talingarde

Avrandes:
Adding up your stats, I only get 23 points. If you want to up it to 25, feel free.

Not sure how you get 4 feats. You have two human feats listed. I think it may have to do with Lightning Reflexes as you don't have that added in.

Your familiar should know all cantrips, 7 first level spells (3+int modifier).

Remember you start with no equipment.

I only see one trait selected (Piracy).

King of Talingarde

Avrandes:

Doh, Failed reading comprehension roll

Trait is fine to hold onto.

Okay on spells, we can get started while you finish.

male human witch 1

Humans get a martial wpn, i took a bonus noncombat feat, a level 1of feat and a human feat. Yes?

Remaining cantrips and final spell selection will be added. Equipment was cut and paste. Will erase yomorrow. Anxious to get back to my cell.

HP 45/45, AC- 18, Touch- 14, Flat- 14, CMD- 21, Fort- +6, Ref- +9, Will- +2, Percep- +7, Init- +4

Seems to add up, except the 'Humans get a martial weapon'. Not in PF they don't. They get the human bonus feat and 'skilled' (+1 skill point per level).

King of Talingarde

Yes, I'm not certain of any rule where humans receive a free martial weapon proficiency. I'd love it, don't get me wrong (humans are my 2nd favorite race), just don't know of any such.

Avrandes:
Also don't forget the attribute points

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Just as an fyi--don't forget to add Lightning Reflexes to your reflex save.

Edit: Okay, I'm curious. What's your favorite race, KMV? For me it's dwarves.

male human witch 1

Changing attribure points, axing the feat, and deleting the equipment now.

The playtest version of PFRPG had the extra martial feat for humans. This morning I learned that it didn't make the cut to the CRB. Feelin kinda dumb.

I'll pick a fun simple weapon later.

King of Talingarde

Avrandes:
Unless you haven't update, I still only add up 23 points.

Str 14 (5), Dex 10 (0), Con 11 (1), Int 16 base (10), Wis 12 (2), Cha 14 (5)

male human witch 1

I keep trying to change some of this and they don't seem to save. I'd assume it was me being a rookie with my phone if my home computer didn't get posts eaten so often

Should be good now.

King of Talingarde

Avrandes:
I can't find anything to complain about now.

First post will be incoming.

King of Talingarde

I'll be heading off to work in just a short while, so I'll be back on in about 9-10hours.

Bostarg:
If you have no other questions, just throw up a post saying as such and I'll move you back to the cells tonight. Otherwise, jsut mention any questions and I'll answer. My ability to post from work does exist, but is questionable.

Sovereign Court

Sorry to be a spelling Nazi but its driving me crazy. I believe 'Sargent' should be spelt 'Sergeant', unless its some American spelling i'm unfamiliar with.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

No, your right. For some reason, the spell check on Firefox corrected my initial misspelling to that, and that was the only suggestion it gave...
