ELDRED CROFTER
Eldred moves up the stairs using the movement to unsling the bow from his shoulders.
He uses the higher ground to aid his shots and the bulwark of the quarter deck as cover.
He lines up the captain and tries to put an arrow into him.

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Add in fav enemy bonus if humans applies to half elves.

Question before I post, because this one varies from DM to DM: If I were to use Burning Hands, would there be a risk of setting the boats on fire?
Edit:
Damien steps back to put some distance between himself and the enemies.
"Let's scale things up a little, shall we?"
Enlarge person on Johan or Malgrim, whichever one of them wants it.
Johan Hale
As Eldred speaks the code word for an attack, Johan mutters under his breath. I knew we should have brought the ogre. Then he bursts into action with a load roar. He lets the power of Asmodeus flood through him like the Cardinal taught him - burning doubt from his mind and filling his limbs with purpose - and charges right into the middle of the Talirean boarding party. At the last moment he drops his shoulder and barrels into the captain like a runaway ox-cart, lifting him up and over the rails of the Frosthammar.

Malgrim followed Johan while uncoiling his whip; and seeing the captain pushed back to the edge of the railing by his comrade, but not quite being toppled over, Malgrim lent his aid; in the form of a firm shove with an extended leg. Swearing as one of the arrows strikes his arm, breaking his focus in the middle of a crucial gesture, Damien hops for cover behind a nearby crate.
"These archers are starting to be a major pain!"
Then, an idea strikes him, as he recalls a spell he'd been practicing. Pronouncing a few magical words from behind the crates, Damien brings two fingers to his mouth, and gives an outworldly, extremely high pitched whistle.
Before the soldiers on the ship know what's going on, innumerable spiders or all sorts are crawling all over their ship and themselves, up in the rigging and across the rails, communally weaving an enormous web across the ship, with the rigging and railings as attachment points. With the web in place and, perhaps, the soldiers are entangled into place, the spiders vanish into the aether just as quickly as they had come. All the while, Damien can be heard cackling like a maniac.
"I wonder if any of these guys afraid of spiders? If they weren't... well now they will! Hahahaha!"
Move action: Move to cover. Standard action: cast Web (DC 17)
I've traced the web's radius on the map. I assume that a ship has enough support points to put up a web.

Move action: Move about fifteen feet to place soldier 1 and Capt Sambryl in threatened area.

Most of soldiers are already dead, you board the 'Blade' do a cleaning job. Why let all the mitran scum alive? Kargeld is only too pleased to help; in a swift manner you dispatch the soldiers.
With a last resigned look in his face, the captain disappears in the water. (suicide)
Each soldier has a longspear, short sword, short bow, 20 arrows, dagger, leather armor, belt pouch, 1d8-1 gp
“The Blade of St. Martius”, there is little in the way of treasure aboard. There are a few weeks of provisions and a gold Mitran sunburst mounted in the captain’s cabin worth 50 gp. Selling “The Blade” itself in Talingarde is impossible.

==//==
You continue your journey to North; it’s getting colder by the Day.
In a calm night, several days after the battle with ‘The Blade’, you are preparing to go to sleep.
One of the Kargeld crew man is relieving when a small water creature appears and push him into the ice waters. But not only one, four more appears and try to push you into the water, but fortunately no one else falls.
Damien is quick to identify the monster as a small water elemental. You are still surprised by this when another one appears, soon surprised shouts of pain can be heard from the fallen sailor. Whatever is happening to him is not a pleasing thing. Seeing as the elementals were trying to push you into the unknown danger in the water, make a stand far away from the railing.
From the darkness in the water bolts began to dart in your direction, and still more elementals keep appearing.
It’s a gruesome battle, Kargeld took several hits, as did Johan and Damien. Malgrim was swift enough and smart enough to evade most of the blows and one more sailor was lost.
It took a long time, but with a concentrated effort, you were able to kill the elementals, and then focus on the monsters in the water that Damien identified as Triton Warriors.
You were able to see Dolphins around the ship, ready to attack anyone that dared to enter the dark waters.
Taking cover in the railing, you used the soldier’s strategy against the new enemies.
Some you were able to kill, others were driven away, except for a monster that boarded the ship while you were focused on the Triton Warriors and Dolphins.
Cleary this Triton was no warrior, in a desperate attempt he throws himself against you, but is swift deal with.
You hear in his dying breath whisper “The shining sun has seen the wickedness you hide in hearts. And thus it will be the son who brings your doom.” then he dies.
Combat Gear: +1 trident, sea shell and pearl holy symbol of Mitra (worth 100 gp)
Other Gear: Sea-shell armor (as a bone breastplate; fragile – it shatters on a confirmed critical hit)
I want you to add your comments about this event.
Malgrim Ironskin
Past-
Malgrim was utterly against keeping the vessel.
We should not attract further attention to our mission. Better that the Talrideans think it the work of simple pirates.
Present-
Malgrim contemplated the dying being's words.
The son, hmm? Perhaps Sir Balin also had a child? His words had the stench of prophecy about them...
ELDRED CROFTER
Bah!, says the Conman dismissively. Superstition - fortunes and curses are dime a dozen.
Johan Hale
Before
Johan frowns at the combined disapproval of Kargeld, Malgrim, Eldred, and Damien, then waves his hand in disgust. Fine. Cut it loose, he says tesrsly, then stomps off to the other end of the ship.
After the Triton Attack
Johan enjoys a nice dolphin steak dinner that night. He is utterly unconcerned by talk of prophesy, noting to his companions that if they are attracting the attention of other gods, they must be doing something right. He plays idly with the fish-man's holy symbol, briefly toying with the idea of starting a trophy case of Mitran baubles taken from defiled and defeated enemies, but in the end takes more joy from imagining them shattered to dust and melted into slag.
Eldred or Malgrim want to carry the trident? - Johan doesn't have the proficiency to use it and someone might as well use it until we can sell it.
ELDRED CROFTER
Mal may be able to do some good stuff with it. I'm going to try to focus on archery, when possible, short term
ELDRED CROFTER
Eldred helps clear the Kingdom ship before scuttling her. He takes a perverse glee in hacking holes in the bottom of the boat with an axe taken from the weapons boxes I'm gonna assume there are axes and seems to use it for both exercise and emotional release. He laughs loudly as he watches the boat sink from the deck of 'The Blade'.
The battle with the sea creatures doesn't seem to do much for Eldred apart from piss him off. He is resentful that sailor stories he 'poo-poo'-ed during his life may be more than a little true.
I didn't even know this stuff actually happened. Always thought it was like fishing stories, he says over his own dolphin steak dinner.
Missing a sailor also has the unfortunate side effect of more work, and as a relatively untrained hand, that likely means more bilge work, still, he tries as best he can to be pleasant to the Captain and crew both.
Diplomacy 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Unfortunately they have little patience for his inexpert fawning and transparent lack of sincerity.
DM Aku
Before moving on in this part, I'll wait Damien check in again. Or at least tell me I can DMPC his char while he is in no condition to play. Also, I still want his comments on the other events.
The trip continues and you were attacked by Bunyips, Ice elementals, an ice mephit, but in the end the Fallen One was watching over you and no more causalities were sustained to you or your crew. I’m considering here you gain the exp, but these monsters did not had any treasure.
Finally the Frosthamar arrives at the ice-choked entrance to the River Taiga. Kargeld proves himself a worthy captain nimbly sailing the heavily laden craft through fields of floating jagged ice. He barks orders in norspik and his sailors scramble to comply. Again and again he turns the boat at just the right moment to pass between the broken shards calved from ancient glaciers.
Finally, after nerve-wracking hours of this, the boat pushes through the dangerous headwaters of the Taiga into the clear water of this almost uncharted mighty river. Beyond the headwaters is a land of savage wonders. The Taiga winds through a great northern forest that to the best of anyone’s knowledge has no name.
After miles and miles of picturesque pine trees frosted with new fallen snow, the ship comes to a great mountain range. This river flows through a great rift in the mountains that looks as if some impossible huge primordial giant smashed a pass through the grey slate.
You are headed south now, though this appears to have no effect on lessening the intense cold. You are headed to the great interior sea of Talingarde – Lake Tarik as it is known. To the south of that lake sits the Watch Wall. Moreover, on the northern banks in a wide wooded valley is your destination – the camp of Sakkarot Fire-Axe.
Thousands of bugbears are already assembled. These savage humanoids are not pleased to see outsiders, especially humans. Worse, there are more than just bugbears here. The occasional polar bear lumbers around the camp. Fur-clad goblins scamper here and there, laughing with frenetic glee. Even a few hill giants gather at the camp’s fringes.
There is only one place to dock the boat – a crudely made pier that juts into the river. On that pier are four hulking bugbears. They do not seem pleased to see the Frosthamar.
Intentions?
Malgrim Ironskin
As the boat approached the dock, Malgrim did his best to brief the others.
It would be better if we do not antagonise any of them. Do not separate from each other. Do not show obvious weakness. Walk the line between firmness, without showing insolence. Fire-Axe is a mighty warrior. Ensure you pay him the respect and honour one of his stature deserves. The smaller ones you can treat with disdain. But do not tangle with anything as big as a Bugbear. Or larger.
Interestingly, Malgrim kept up his visage as a Half-Orc, rather than revealing his true form.
Johan Hale
Johan takes in Malgrim's advice with earnest ears. He directs Kargeld to dock at the pier but not to lower the gangplank or send crew aboard to secure the moorings until directed by the party. He watches the four bugbears on the dock closely as they approach, attempting to discern their mood or intent.
He looks over to Eldred wit a raised eyebrow. You want to handle the introductions? Lets try not to have any "bird" sighting this time okay? After a pause he adds, Scrawny young Timeon may not strike the right chord though
ELDRED CROFTER
You have a point, he shifts back to his true form, a form not used in many days.
He considers his best approach and decides he doesn't have the patience or the skill to make nice.
He strides confidently down the dock.
We've got what you want - GOOD steel and prime weapons but if you don't make with getting your leader here right now, I'll make sure that he'll eat your heart! And if he doesn't want it? You can bet I can take it from you!, he flexes his impressive physique meaningfully.
He decides to throw the dog like creatures a proverbial bone, But no one wants you to die today - we want you killing Kingdom soldiers!, so hurry up about it.

Oof. Sorry about the long delay, guys. I'm feeling sorta better now.
After the fight:
"Don't think there's much we can do with that thing without attractin' a lot of attentions. Bit of a waste, but I say let's scuttle it." Damien declares. It's cleared that he's a little bummed out at getting rid of something so valuable, but he has no confidence whatsoever that the party could turn a profit from it.
Triton battle:
"Prophecy, shmophecy!" Damien can be heard declaring about the Triton's dying words. "Fate's a game of dice, and anyone who predicts anything is just trying to force the rolls. I ain't listened to a fish before, and I ain't plannin' on starting now."
On arrival.
"Ah, land sweet land," Damien's disguised form smirks, letting Ace out of his satchel so the weasel can get some exercise and perhaps hunt out a fresh prey. The animal leaps playfully into the snow, happy to have foot on stable ground again. As the party approaches the northern warriors, Damien remains aloof in the back, preferring to let the more diplomatically inclined members of the party do their thing.

One of the creatures grow bold with your speech and yell on top of the gathering mob in the pier.
"We want killing! Killing the the soft, squishy ‘hummies’!" he yells preparing to attack.

Malgrim Ironskin
What weapons do they have out (if any?). Any armour on them?
Edit: Nevermind I see it in the OOC. Editing my actions in now.
Malgrim spat out his taunt in the Goblin tongue.
Treacherous, filthy scum! Fire-Axe would gut you, were we not about to do it ourselves!
To his comrades, he added in a more measured tone.
Kill them swiftly; and viscerally. No mercy.
His long whip had the reach to strike one of the beasts from his standing position, so he lashed out with the metal coil and wrapped it around the leg of one of the stocky creatures BB 1, sending one of the creatures tumbling contemptuously to the ground with a sneer.
CMB VS Flat-Footed CMD: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Visceral I can doJohan says flatly to Malgrim, steps to Eldred's left and forward, cutting off any lines of approach to Damien. His spear snakes out at the nearest bugbear with lethal force, spitting the surprised creature like a feast day turkey (BB2). Back you mongrels! Bring forth the Fire-Axe!

Haha! My first confirmed Crit!
Johan Hale
This first bugbear corpse slumps to the ground, a ruined red cavity where his mouth used to be. Johan snarls and levels his weapon at the next one, spattering it with the gore of its fallen comrade. He bellows, I thought we were coming to meet an army of warriors, yet we are greeted by weaklings and cowards! BRING FORTH THE FIRE-AXE!

Johan in a furious attack kills the bugbear that almost killed Eldred, and Eldred with Malgrim dispatch the remaining one.
Bug4 has 0 hp and Johan killed the bug3
A stunned silence follows, no one daring to get closer, the ones closer, not daring to give their back to you in fear of what may happen to them.
Some long heart beat follows when the throng of bugbear opens way to another one; a great black-furred bugbear, a fearsome beast wielding an axe of flame. He points the axe to Johan:
“Who sent you?” Sakkarot demands in unaccented common.
Not the best avatar but...

The Cardinal, your, and my, master, say Eldred firmly. He fishes out the amulet the Cardinal gave them and displays it.
