The location of the shop is clearly visible. It's a small convenience store you passed on your way here. The sign out front is clearly legible as Variet Store.
Mr West says that he's never seen fey loitering about. Plenty of gnomes and halflings use the buses, but they travel in small groups and always seem in a rush.
Mr West also says that no one really collected Carl's belonging's, since the police ruled there was no cause for an investigation. But that he, himself, recovered something from Carl's body. After he fell, these, and he pulls out a fresh pack of NoCo cigarettes, with only one cigarette missing, were found not far from where he landed. Mr west admits to pocketing them for fear that Mrs Drain might find out.

"We're these Carl's normal brand?" Derrick asks, gesturing to the cigarette pack. "And may we see his locker or whatever of his he might have left behind?"

Kyle takes a deep drag and nothing of note happens. I don't know how experienced a smoker Kyle is, but he can make a perception check depending on his preference.
"No, those were not his usual, I think he just picked them up because he was running behind. I've never seen that brand before. I think they come from the enclave."
Mr West offers to show you Carl's locker, but it has been cleared out nothing remains.
| Derrick Johnson |
"All roads lead to the enclave it seems," Derrick muses. "Thank you for your help Mr West. I'm sure Carl would have appreciated it, and I know Mrs Drain will."
| Derrick Johnson |
"Let's check out the smoke shop first," Derrick suggests. "It might help us get a feel for the place before we delve deeper into the enclave."

You head up and around the corner to the Variet Store. It's a simple, little, family-run convenience store like you might find in almost any city in America. The windows are barred and plastered with ads for phone cards and ice cream bars.
Inside you find a a smiling southeast asian clerk greet you from behind the counter with alcohol and cigarettes. The store is filled with basic groceries, candy and soda. There are also everyday necessities like socks and lighters.
On the counter beside an aged cash register is a chinese-style shrine and black and white picture of a smiling southeast asian man with a few sticks of incense in a bowl with a red candle and a sheet of gold leaf with diamond cut out of it.

Derrick enters the shop, and looks around as he walks up to the counter beside the doctor, letting him start the conversation with the shopkeeper.
