Kirian realizes that 6 men left the Ship, but there are only 5 heroes.

Well, that's quite the pickle.
"Hmmm... so there's only four of us, and they're expecting 6. I suppose we can either look around and see if we can find some straw or branches to prop up in the boat and cover with cloaks, or ..."
Kirian casts his Minor Illusion cantrip to try to make it look like two men are huddled in the back end of the boat.
"Perhaps we can make it look like they got seasick and they're curled up in back?"
I guess we look to see if an illusion in a 5x5 cube might look convincing from a distance.
Encounter Map
Oh yeah. Also, Kirian you do have dead bodies you can use as props... Roll deception, with advantage if using the magic and more than one of you are working on the disguised boat

Kirian looks over at the two dead men with a sour look on his face.
"I suppose we could use them as well, though I find the thought rather distasteful."
"What do the rest of you think? Do we try with magic and sleight of hand, or add extra weight, and possibly shark-fodder to the boat?"
Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3

Encounter Map
It's dark outside, and the heroes brave the sea to head to the Smuggler's Ship moored off the coast. Kirian has it from the captives that the ship's name is the Sea Ghost. He also knows that the smugglers on board will be watching the coast for a returning longboat. So, the party has a choice...
Approach directly, hoping your deception fools the smugglers on watch into allowing you onto the Ghost.
Approach indirectly, attempting to gain access to the Ghost unseen.
Both paths are possible (and you've rolled for your approach for either) and just require a choice.

No, the Cog is moored up for the evening. The only signal would require light, and that would definitely mean letting the Ghost know. I also need a choice in approach.
Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3
I suggest we circle around and approach from a different angle and attempt to board. If we are spotted, then we can just claim we got a bit turned around.

The Heroes bring the boat around and park it next to the Sea Ghost. The current problem lies in gaining access to the Ghost, climbing the side of the ship seems difficult but doable if someone is deft at climbing, but perhaps climbing the anchor chain would be easier.
The map is updated and labeled
Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3
Can we approach by the anchor chain without notice and climb up there?
male variant human (Bakluni) | cleric 3 | hp 26/26 | AC 16 (14 w/o shield; 12 w/o shield of faith) Passive Per 12 | Init +0 | Saves: Wis +4, Cha +4
It looks as though there is a rope ladder or something on our side. Is that accurate. or perhaps rolled up? Maybe if Kirian has some magehand or something we could board that way?
Male High Elf Wizard 4; AC: 12/15 (Mage Armor+DEX); HP: 26/26 Temp HP: 0/0 Passive Perception 13; Init +4; Saves: STR -1 DEX +2 CON +2 INT+6 WIS+3 CHA+0 HD 4/4, Spell slots 1:4/4 2:3/3, Insp:0
As long as it requires 10 lbs of weight/force or less, and Kirian can see it, then mage hand could work.
Kirian looks up the side of the ship to see if there's a ladder or rope or anything else that can assist with getting onboard.

Could Peren use his acrobatics skill to climb the side of the ship, or would that strictly be athletics?
Encounter Map
The rope ladder is on the side that all the pirate smugglers are facing...going that route means you are definitely going to be seen. Climbing is Athletics, but it can be DEX rather than STR if you'd like.
You can swim to the anchor chain and climb it without being seen, at least you think you can (you need a Stealth check and you could take 10)
Male Wood Elf Ranger Monster Slayer (Soldier)/4; AC: 16; HP: 36/36; Passive Perception 14; Init +4 (Adv); Saves: Str +2, Dex +6; HD Used 1/3
Take 10 on the climb? Roll the stealth, though, right?
male variant human (Bakluni) | cleric 3 | hp 26/26 | AC 16 (14 w/o shield; 12 w/o shield of faith) Passive Per 12 | Init +0 | Saves: Wis +4, Cha +4
Okay, to clarify, we need to be going around the other side? Or are we moving the rope ladder, as shown on the map, over to the other side? In either case, I just want to make sure that we are on the opposite side of the way they are facing.
Or, could Kirian use magehand to take the end of my rope and loop it over the rail, then pull it down so that we have both ends, then climb up the side that way?
Male Halfling Rogue 4 | AC 15 | HP 23/23 | S+0/D+6/C+0/I+4/W+1/C+1 | Perc +3 | Init +4
Peren could quietly swim to the anchor chain and climb up and then lower a rope for the rest of you...or simply try to climb the side where we are now and lower the rope. Either I think will work (if I roll well)
Male High Elf Wizard 4; AC: 12/15 (Mage Armor+DEX); HP: 26/26 Temp HP: 0/0 Passive Perception 13; Init +4; Saves: STR -1 DEX +2 CON +2 INT+6 WIS+3 CHA+0 HD 4/4, Spell slots 1:4/4 2:3/3, Insp:0
I can try pulling up the rope with Mage Hand, provided it's less than 10 lbs. I also need to get a clear look at the rail so I can guide the hand.
Kirian casts Mage Hand and has it try to lift the rope up along the side of the boat to see if it's sufficiently light to pull up and loop over a rail. He also carefully looks for a clear view of the rail to guide the hand.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Encounter Map
Anyone can climb the side of the boat, its just a difficult climb(DC15) and if you fail by 5 or more you fall. Anyone can also swim to the anchor chain and climb it, you can take 10 to climb the chain and make it (It's DC10) however you need to make a stealth check to remain unseen.
@Habbi and Kirian the mage hand rope trick could work, and lower the climb DC to 5.

Since pulling up the rope with Mage Hand seems to work, Kirian carefully uses it to lift the rope up the side of the ship and loop it over a rail and then back down.
"Alright, it should be stable enough to climb. Who wants to go first?"
Male Halfling Rogue 4 | AC 15 | HP 23/23 | S+0/D+6/C+0/I+4/W+1/C+1 | Perc +3 | Init +4
