Breach's first move takes him to the end of the corridor, briefly bursting to the front of the party. Once he does that, he can take a crack at the DC 22 Perception check with the spoiler tag a few posts back (as a free action).
He then sees Ro An Hap about 45 feet away from him, ahead and to his right (north east against the wall). Marching forward, Breach quickly drops that distance to about 25 feet.
Halstadt Morgrym
How far will Hal have to move to have line of sight on this foe? Will it require a double move like Breach took? Just want to know so when I take my action I will not slow down the game, my plan was to move and use Firebolt but if I cannot I will simply move into the room to get line of sight for the next round.
Xerissa Auraraun
Okay! I am taking the speed option this round, cranking my Speed from 30 to 60 feet. If I got this right, Ro An Hap ran off to the east so Xerissa zips forward and dashes behind the west side of the throne and takes cover. Hopefully with my speed I'll be able to make it there as a move action. Then she let's lose with an explosive bomb. If she doesn't have enough move to get there, she'll double move instead and make sure she has full cover. No sense in being caught out in the open.
Xerissa's explosive bomb with her foxy mutagen enhancing her Dex: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 2 = 23
Xerissa's Possible damage on a direct hit: 4d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 1) + 4 = 14
To that number there's a range increment penalty of -2 after 20 feet. So factor that in for me please. But it's a touch attack.
Alternatively with a splash it is 8 damage, but there's a DC 17 Reflex save to reduce that to half.
Xerissa answer's Breach, "You got it clunky!"
Karek Kogan
Perception!: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
I'm not sure if where he moved changed whether I can charge him. The room doesn't look like it has any impediments, and I can evidently see where he is. Anyway, my intent is to charge. I will take the speed boost if I need it to get in range. Otherwise, I will take the bonus to attack. I will figure I can use the speed bonus to attack, but feel free to subtract those bonuses if I can't.
Free action, rage. Will have to research to see exactly how much longer I can do that today. Look, it doesn't usually come up!
Charging, Fervored, Raging Power Attack!: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23, good for 2d6 + 19 ⇒ (1, 1) + 19 = 21damage.
Karek has finally zeroed in on a worthy opponent to hit. He whips his glasses off this time, then surges forward, a picture of dwarven strength in its prime. He doesn't know what this thing is, but that won't stop him from breaking it.
Gandel
DC 22 Perception check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Round One
For this round, Gandel will take advantage of the free Extend Spell option of the Blessing of Fervor.
Gandel steps to the side of the entryway and utters a word of mystical power. The halfling scholar disappears from view and carefully studies the guardian, trying to identify its nature while also looking for signs of the golden light Breach mentioned.
Standard action to cast Vanish, Extended to a duration of 10 rounds (expires at the end of Round Ten). Using his daily Lore Master ability, Gandel will take 20 on the appropriate Knowledge check to attempt to identify the guardian for the purpose of using his Naturalist ability.
Pact Stone GM
Xerissa. . .
THanks to Donkor's spell, she can just make it to the throne with a move action and then get her shot off. There are two range increment penalties - thanks for reminding me.
-----
Auraraun dashes forward with supernatural speed, crossing the breadth of the great chamber in seconds. Taking cover behind the huge metallic throne, she launches the first volley of the battle. A small ruby crystal flies from her hands and streaks towards the guardian who has taken up a position against the far wall. The crystal explodes in a wreath of fire, rocking the entire chamber with the force of its blast as the flames chew up much of the air in the room, creating a momentary zone of pressure from the artificial vaccum. A split-second later, a screaming woosh is heard as air rushes back into the room from the corridor behind the Dune Squad, an effect much like an invisible crashing wave.
When the smoke finally clears, the Master of Doors, who now looks to be covered in a layer of char, finds a huge dwarf with a hammer suddenly upon him. . .
-----
Since I know a few of you are keeping track of fire vulnerability and resistance, The fire definitely injured Ro Ap Han, but it did not appear to do as much damage as Mr. Exciting has rolled. Read into that as you would like.
Moonpate
Moonpate will move to enter the room and staying near the exit will attempt to hit the thing with his crossbow using a tangle bolt. He'll take the +2 bonus to hit this round. If he is within 30 feet, please add on another +1 for point blank shot.
Masterwork Crossbow with +1 tangle bolt: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 1 + 1 + 6 + 2 = 28

It’s good news: Karek has exactly just enough move to reach Ro An Hap with a charge, and he has a clear path. That means he can use Donkor’s magical boon as an attack bonus for the round.Free action, rage. Will have to research to see exactly how much longer I can do that today. Look, it doesn't usually come up!

Awesome, please do keep track when you can and let me know - it just might prove to be important for us.Karek has finally zeroed in on a worthy opponent to hit. He whips his glasses off this time, then surges forward, a picture of dwarven strength in its prime. He doesn't know what this thing is, but that won't stop him from breaking it.
-
Perhaps Ro An Hap is worthy in the sense that he just might be the first opponent Karek has come across that he couldn’t hit with a roll of 4.-----
The dwarf completes his mad rush, tearing through the smoke, ignoring the pressure wave, and flying straight at the strange warrior wrapped in linens like an unstoppable force. Ro An Hap tries to back-pedal away from the onrushing blow, but Karek is too fast and the guardian has left himself too little room to maneuver.
The hammer blow flies straight into Ro An Hap’s chest and—
--goes through him?!
A large gapping hole in the guardian’s chest provides just enough space for the hammer blow to fall short. For the briefest of instants, it almost looked like the front-half of the hammer’s head disappeared. Probably just a trick of the light. More likely, in the dwarf’s haste, he overbalanced his attack, resulting in a haymaker miss.
Woah! For a brief moment, Karek could have sworn he saw a pillar and some stonework inside the hole in the guardian’s chest. Naw, probably just a product of his rage and seeing one hieroglyph too many.

I was wondering when you were going to bust out Lore Master. That's an awesome move as well, but I'm not sure that will let you make a re-roll on a Knowledge check. I think you have to use it at first instance, not on a second try. I think a re-roll (or a take 20) might be appropriate if something happens that enables Gandel to work with new information. But as it is, he's stuck with his original knowledge. Ro An Hap just might be something so rare, even the professor himself hasn't heard of it.| Donkor Sooron |
Using Blessing of Fervor for movement rate increase.
Sooron will enter the room and step off to the left, make a perception roll, and trying to get himself situated behind a pillar.

He's out of range for the Point Blank Shot, I'm afraid. But did you include it in your total of 28? I can't seem to account for one of your +1's. Usually that just means I've overlooked something. . .Before I resolve this, I've got a further question as it looks like Moonpate will have a choice. It takes him 15 feet to get to the entryway - which is where he wants to be. However, charging Karek is in the way, giving Ro An Hap cover (a +4 bonus to his AC). Moonpate can avoid that by using the rest of his Speed to head east, 10 or 15 more feet along the south wall of the chamber. That gives him a clear shot with his tangle bolt, but it puts him well into the room which is what he wanted to avoid. Perhaps with that awesome roll he would hit anyways, even with the cover. Perhaps he will miss, even if he enters. We'll soon discover.
Let me know your preference.

Nice spot!
That sounds like Sooron is going for a targeted dispel. Although we'll resolve that after we resolve Moonpate's attack, in the meantime, why don't you go ahead and give us Donkor's caster level check. That's just a 1d20 + 7.

I'll move to get the better shot. As for the +1, I'm counting +1 for masterwork and +1 for the tangle bolt, which I took from the pathfinder srd listing for tangle bolt: "Often etched with images of spider webs or swampy vines, this sickly green +1 seeking bolt transforms into sticky goo when it hits, entangling its target and becoming tough and resilient upon exposure to air. In addition to the bolt damage, the target is entangled as if it had been hit by a tanglefoot bag." I'm cool if you feel it doesn't apply.
Halstadt Morgrym
Hal will charge into the fray as well, instead of breaing towards the figure he will break away from the figure clearing out space for the Reaver to rush past him. He will then launch a firebolt at Ro Ap Han.
"Angradd smite this ancient foe".
I am assuming that the -4 for ranged touch attack does not apply here as Ro Ap Han is 9' tall and Karek is 4' tall. If it does please subtract from my roll.
Firebolt 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 = 24
Forebolt Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

No, no, you're quite right. I just completely missed the masterwork bonus this time around.Skating to his right, Moonpate enters the chamber, shoulders his crossbow and lets his eldritch bolt fly. The bolt splats Rohan in the shoulder and drips down his body, coating him in a lather of slime.
With the 'controversial' +1 preserved and no cover bonus for Ro Ap Han, Moonpate scores a hit!
Attempting a DC 15 Reflex save for Ro Ap Han: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
The guardian moves quickly, spinning away from the off-balance Karek while using his staff to scrape off as much of the goop as possible before it can solidify.
Unfortunately for Ro Ap Han, even with that perfect save he still suffers -2 to attack and -4 to his Dexterity. Further he can only move at half speed - all of which lasts for 2d4 rounds (a total I will roll off-screen).
And, oh yeah, the bolt does 5 points of damage as well.

To his left (the west), there are four pillars along the south wall. Donkor can reach every single one of them. Better still he can get his spell off from behind any one of them as well.Just let me know which one he would like so I know where he winds up positioned. Let's call the closest one to Donkor, and the one closest to Ro Ap Han #1, the next #2, the next #3 and the furthest one, the one in the southwest corner, #4. Donkor will have cover from the pillar.
. . . after surprisingly seeing the golden glow on the creatures chest, casts a Dispel Magic focused on that spot, rather than on the guardian in general.

Donkor casts his powerful spell, but whatever magic lurks across the guardian's chest, it remains still there. Clearly it is a force more ancient than even Donkor can comprehend.Although we all know it was just an unfortunate crap die roll, perhaps the Donk interpret this as another sign from his goddess. Believe it or not, he's still a size Medium and even if he were not I believe he'd still be in melee. But it doesn't matter, Hal still easily lands his touch attack. The last dwarf races into the hall, falling in behind the others. Morgrym pulls up short and opens a tiny portal to the great fireforge beyond, a black dot like an eclipse of the sun. A molten-red jet of divine perfection flies out of the hole and scorches the ancient guardian from head to toe.
That's another 6 points of damage.
Hurgah the Reaver
Hurgah selects the speed boost for this round - that brings his total movement up to 70 ft, which should be plenty to get up close and physical with this guy.
As Hurgah watches his allies pour into the room, his eyes begin to shine red with battle fever. The draconic whisper in the back of his mind issues a high-pitched shriek for death and the massive half-orc readily complies.
Thick legs pumping as a frantic pace, the big berserker rushes straight at the mysterious guardian. He just has time to charge his greataxe with a fraction of his own arcane energy before he swings it in a sweeping motion intended to cut Ro Ap Han in half.
As always, his spirit companions rush after, hungry for blood.
Two-handed mwk greataxe raging power attack w/arcane strike: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 Doesn't look like that's enough for a hit, even with reduced Dex. Gandel, got any gallant inspiration left?
Greataxe damage: 1d12 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
Cornugon Smash - demoralize roll: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

Ro Ap Han, however, suddenly bends in a manner that appears impossible. His torso twists as though he had no spine, enabling him to suddenly duck under the blow. The Reaver's otherwise well-placed swing tears a huge chunk of granite from the wall, smashing a pictograph into unrecognizable bits. The guardian's top half then snaps back into place, leaving him whole once again -- and leaving the Dune Squad to wonder if the guardian were made of rubber.Hurgah's axe attack is a miss.
As always, his spirit companions rush after, hungry for blood.
But no blood do they find. They gnaw away at the ancient creature unsatisfied and the Reaver's death cloud begins to disperse. A few dozen of the horrid wisps are sucked into the shining vortex growing across Ro Ap Han's chest, vanishing instantly, presumably never to be seen again.
That's a miss as well.

What gives? We don't seem to have our usual spat of delayed actions. . .

Ro Ap Han - 25
Breach Shattershield - 21
Xerissa Auraraun - 19
Karek Kogan- 11
Gandel Trapspringer - 10+
Moonpate the Potentate- 10
Donkor Sooron - 10-
Halstadt Morgrym - 9
Hurgah the Reaver - 3
Ro Ap Han
Ro Ap Han holds his staff to the side with one hand, warding Hurgah away. At the same time he suddenly snaps his free hand forward, driving at Karek with the base of his open palm.
Ro Ap Han's slam attack (while entangled) against a raging charging Karek of AC 18: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 2 = 21 (hit!)
Damage from slam attack: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 (applies!)
There is a sickening crunch as the guardian's blow stops the onrushing dwarf in his tracks, leaving a palm print-like indent in the center of Karek's helm.
Next, having created a modicum of space between him and his foes, Ro An Hap seizes the moment to try to escape the Dune Squad's pincer trap - before Breach can slam the door and the guardian finds himself boxed in on all three sides. He suddenly runs up the wall and the flips upside down, landing on the ground once more, trying to elude his attackers.
Acrobatics (while entangled) versus Karek's CMD of 24: 1d2 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 16 - 2 = 16 (fails!)
Acrobatics (while entangled) versus Hurgah's CMD of 25: 1d2 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 16 - 2 = 16 (fails!)
He is though, not nearly quick enough, I blame Moonpate's tanglefoot bolt. Both Karek and Hurgah each get a single attack of opportunity. Though since neither of you have Combat Reflexes and you only get one such attack this round, I will understand if you elect to forgo it and save it for a later opportunity, perhaps for against another foe.
Once he lands all three dwarves and Hurgah catch a quick glimpse that there is a large gaping circular hole where Ro An Han's chest should be.
The bizarre spherical deficit doesn't seem to phase Ro Ap Han any, though you notice the guardian tries to twist away, as though he is trying to conceal it from you.
Wow! Let me know if this happens - I'll have even more info.

Acrobatics (while entangled) versus Hurgah's CMD of 25:1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 16 - 2 = 31 (succeeds!)
What is with these double rolls!?
So I guess the good news is Hurgah and Karek get to save their attacks of opportunity.
The other good news is thanks to Moonpate's tanglebolt Ro Ap Han is only able to advance 15 feet, so he does not get very far.
Further good news is that the DC's on the spoiler tags seem to be on the decline.
Inside Ro Ap Han's weird torso-sphere there appears to be stone - more of the solid granite you see on the pyramid walls perhaps. Only it appears to continuously change as the guardian slides along the wall, revealing subtle variations in veins and pores. Once Ro Ap Han finishes his move though, there is an empty space in his chest once more - as though his chest were not there at all. And within that space at the far end there's a panel of smaller hieroglyphs. Ro Ap Han then turns to the side, shielding it from your view. The "sphere" is enlarging though, it's starting to extend down his thighs and arms.
Pact Stone GM
Under the maps link there is a new version of the Great Chamber which indicates everyone's current positions.
Breach: More good news. Assuming nothing changes before your turn comes up, you will see you can get a charge on Ro Ap Han or even a move followed by a swing without the need for extra Speed. The tactical flank Hurgah was providing is no longer in place though.

My bad - that was meant to be a Perception check. The larger DC was a rough-hand to reflect distance. No need to re-roll.
