Init order.
1. Felix
2. Atsuko
3. Elaine
4. Masumi
5. Doctor Apocalypse
6. Eddie
7. Cape Killers
Still waiting on Darkstorm.
The Cape Kilers do not appear impressed by Atsuko's intimidations tactic, holding strong with only the most minor hints of hesitation showing.
Tough: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
And the chopsticks break neatly against the armor of their intended target, he walks it off unharmed.
The Darkstorm
Apologies my internet is weird at home, so I am doing this from my phone
Darkstorm sighs as he looks at the meal he had just started. And I thought we had an understanding Two Face
He spins, firing a bio energy blast at the nearest goon. bioenergy blast: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18 8 damage with a Fort save to negate
Atsuko, the Conduit
While keeping her defense up, Atsuko focused on the so-called Cape Killers... and invoked a little of her true nature as she concentrated on them, trying to disable as many of them as possible through sheer force of presence. As with some of her other powers, there was no particular sign she was doing anything... things simply happened when she wanted them to, one of the few things she genuinely liked about her powers. It made her less of a target than the flashy, obvious threats.
Unspeakable Presence: Fort DC 18 for an Affliction. Causes Impaired/Disabled/Paralyzed.
Jaster Kite
For ease of use...
One half's fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
The other half's fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
The Cape Killers appear mostly unfazed by Atsuko's unspeakable presence, readying their weapons for the rest of the fight.
Elaine Balls a fist, her fist glowing in a red ball. She throws a punch.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Her blow connects, the punch explodes into a burst of kinetic energy.
Tough: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
And the man flips through the air and lands unconscious on the table.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
The Doc grabs the gun and adapts.
Eddie dashes through the melee and throws a straight-legged kick into the gut of one of the cape-killers.
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
The armor absorbs most of the blow and does little more than push the soldier back.
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Another Cape-Killer is brought down.
Ten left.
The Cape-Killers burst into action.
The first to act swings his shield at Eddie.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
They miss, just barely grazing him with static.
One raises their gun at Masumi as she hides.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Another two take a shot at Atsuko.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Yet another fires at the Doctor.
Dice not necessary there :)
One opens fire on Elain.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Two send a barrage in at the Darkstorm.
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
The last two surround Felix, rushing in with their shock-shields, flanking him and attacking.
attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Shields are dc 18 vs dazed and stunned. Guns are 6 base damage.
Atsuko, the Conduit
Still not as used to this system... since it's ranged, I think they need a 16 to hit Atsuko?
Well, that had been less helpful than hoped. Atsuko frowned slightly as she leaned away from the shots, then focused her willpower a little more sharply on one of those that had fired at her and slammed their mind with all the force she could bring to bear. As before, there was no sign of her activities - for the moment, she just looked like she was trying to evade attacks as best she could.
Alien Will: Damage 10, DC 25 Will save.
Jaster Kite
Sorry, I was under the impression that it was someone else's turn.
And once again, sorry for any absence, home's practically fixed up by now.
Eddie runs in towards one of the Cape-Killers attacking the Darkstorm, jumping off the surface of the table and going for a kick.
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
The foot hits the cape-killer square in the head and he falls to the ground without much fanfare.
You okay? He asked Darkstorm.
One of the cape-killers who had attacked Feliix removes himself from the stunned man and towards Doctor Apocalypse, shield prepped and striking.
Elaine positions herself in front of Felix, between him and his cape-killers, balling her fist and releasing, a bust of red energy expelling from her hands.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
One falls to the ground, smacking hs head against the table.
six left.
The one still standing raised his gun and fires at Elaine.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
A bullet grazes her side, not much blood. She winces and grunts, but then doesn't acknowledged the wound.
The Cape-Killer that had shot at the Darkstorm reacts to his partner going down by loosing a few bullets at Eddie.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Missing squarely.
Another diverts his attention to the Doctor, swinging in shield-first.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
The last two take shots at the Darkstorm and Atsuko respectively.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Atsuko, the Conduit
The one shooting at Atsuko was definitely a hit-
Toughness: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 (I think I resist that? At least, I know 24 ain't a bad roll... XD)
-although she wasn't too shabby at resisting damage herself, given the multiple layers of defense she had. She did, however, turn her attention to the one that had shot her... and slammed his mind with the force of her will. Best to take out the more dangerous ones quickly, yeah?
Alien Will: Damage 10, DC 25 Will save.
Jaster Kite
Yup, only dazed.
The second that Atsuko turned on the man after getting shot, his eyes widening, even through a thick visor, was immediately apparent.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
He falls back limp, squeezing the trigger once more and blowing through the roof.
Felix, while better, is having a bit of a time getting back into the game.
Felix Cabricornious
Felix hisses in pain, the numbness rippling across his body giving him that awful not-quite-pain-but-really-uncomfortable feeling. He flicks a throwing knife from under his sleeve and flings it at one of the cape-killers.
Throwing Knife Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
Toughness: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Jaster Kite
Happens to everyone, don't sweat it.
Tough: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
The Cape Killer struck by the knife falls down, reflexively reaching for the wound and crashing to the floor, where Doc Apoc's shots miss the intended target.
Four left.
Elain and Eddie run out, striking at their own targets.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Tough: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Tough: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
The first shrugs off the damage, while yet another is thrown up against a wall.
With three left, they take a good long look at their odds and drop their weapons, raising their arms up in the air.
We surrender. Says one, obvious even through the mask that he was saying it begrudgingly, that this was more an act of practicality than cowardice.
We... Won. Eddie said, sighing, not letting his guard down.
Jeez, wonder if Batman hear that. Elaine said, rubbing at the back of her head.
And out from behind, a deep voice called out. I heard.
There, in the forefront, was the batman, clad in high-tech plated armor, his eyes glowiing, the only sign that he was a human being his jaw, arms crossed and staring down the group.
Immediately behind him, the Phantom, deadly quiet but obviously uncomfortable.
Masumi
The girl starts to extract herself from her hiding spot, but then strongly considers going back into it. Of course he was here! A bunch of amateur heroes go stomping into the lair of Two Face himself, there's no way he wouldn't know about that. This was fantastic. She looked over to the more sociable members of the group, and hoped that they'd have something to say.
Atsuko, the Conduit
...Wow, he IS good. Atsuko couldn't help but be impressed by the speed with which the Caped Crusader caught onto things. He really did have things under tight surveillance here, didn't he? This was the point where some people might have been flippant, or perhaps upset that someone else had gotten involved... but truth be told, she did feel a little bit out of her depth with the whole weapon plot they'd come across. She did want to prove herself, but at the same time... she wasn't going to let her pride get in the way. People's lives were at stake, and that was far more important to her.
For now, though, she kept quiet. She couldn't think of anything to say that wouldn't make her look foolish or incompetent - which was awkward in so many ways, now that she thought about it - so she was electing to remain silent instead. She did, however, keep an eye on the 'Cape Killers' to be sure they didn't try anything.
Jaster Kite
This is your team? Batman asked the Phantom.
They're... Much more competent when in action, as you can see He said slowly, and as defensively as he could in his hushed voice.
I see that they've shot up the place. Batman said sternly, giving a long glare at Dr. Apocalypse and his disarmed gun, along with the blood over the walls. I see they're using your method of fighting crime.
That is not entirely true. The Phantom said again. They're all alive, mostly, as far as I can tell. He paused again. An ambulance is on it's way.
Batman remained quiet, walking up to the team and eying each and every one of them. I'm handling Two-Face from here. He said. You can either leave Gotham or stay out of it, understand?
Behind Batman, the Phantom shook his head quickly at the team.
The Darkstorm
Apologies for the absence.
Batman, Darkstorm said, disregarding the Phantom. We aren't here to stomp on your turf. There is a threat to our city as well. Besides, you have so many villans to deal with on your own. We are just hear to protect our turf.
He hesitates, his wounds still healing. Should I really be addressing someone such as him like this? Well in for a penny...
I understand not wanting other heroes in Gotham, most of your villains poped up after you became the Bat. At least that is what I have heard in school. But we can't let people die in our turf.
Masumi
Masumi, already throughfully intimidated by the Batman's appearence, is very inclined to just leave as soon as possible. It looked like Phantom wanted them to stay though, maybe? She could never read people all that well.
Moving a bit closer to the group causes her to wince, and she cups a hand over her wounded arm. Her medical skills are enough that it dosn't seem life-threatening, but the pain was still there. Less painful then being shot through the face at least.
Atsuko, the Conduit
Turf. Such an interesting word to use in a situation like this one, and... probably not what she'd have chosen, herself. What were they, a gang of teenagers squabbling over who got to hang out on which street instead of sharing like reasonable adults? She shrugged a bit, though, not inclined to argue the point with someone who, if his actual talents matched even half his reputation, was quite capable of somehow incapacitating her and doing basically whatever he wanted with no trouble at all.
There were some people you just didn't mess with if you could avoid it.
Jaster Kite
By your logic, I think it is worth pointing out that Two-Face is one of mine. Batman said. He turned to face the Phantom. And you brought them here to interfere?
The Phantom nodded. I take full responsibility.
Why?
The Phantom glanced down at the pile of cape-killers. We got what we came here for. He said. We'll be on our way, team. He said, nodding his head.
Atsuko, the Conduit
Without another word, Atsuko moved to follow the Phantom. The lower she kept her profile here, the better. A top member of the Justice League was not somebody to mouth off to - not if you had any sense at all - and she wasn't even going to try and take their time without a darn good reason to... and right now, she didn't have one. Be smart, be sensible, get the job done... and don't make more enemies than you had to.
(Hah. Like Batman would consider her an enemy, even if she tried. ...Sigh. All of this really was driving home just how green she was.)
Jaster Kite
In the empty halls, The Phantom removes his cloak, masks, and bracers, handing them to Eddie, who slipped the pieces into his backpack. Jackie resembled little more than a sharply-dressed man as he led the team to the streets.
He reached for the back of his neck, pulling from his collar a small technological device, and dropped it to the street, crushing it underneath his heel.
None of you have been bugged. He said. But he's watching us. Let's make this quick, he still has no idea about Two-Face's involvement in whatever it is we're dealing with, though those soldiers are going to make him suspicious. You need to find Two-Face before the Bat does, understand? He said. Unbeknownst to you, I also had Media follow us to Gotham, she was following you, and she saw Two-Face escape, and is tracking him right now. You will be able to contact her and follow his trail, and when you are finished, you will meet with me in a place that will be disclosed later.
He nods to Elaine and Eddie. You two are coming with me. He said.
They nod, wordlessly following them. I suggest you get moving. Jackie said. You're racing the goddamn Batman, now.
Atsuko, the Conduit
Atsuko looked up at the Phantom, then down at her bag. She reached into it, then carefully pulled out a book that definitely hadn't been there before, casually flipping open past a number of pages. "Okay, it should be around here... don't [bleep] with the timestream..."
When you're racing one of the best, you need to cheat. XD Atsuko is using her Pnakotic Manuscript in an attempt to try and find a possible future in which they can locate and corner Two-Face before Batman can, with a combination of a +10 bonus to Investigation and the See The Future power, containing the Precognition sense, the Accurate sense, and Counters All Concealment because she assumes Two-Face is paranoid and can throw off easier pursuit. XD The total is 16 out of the possible 20 points she can invest into variable things this way. That said, all kinds of precognition are powerful effects, and game-breaking if not adequately controlled. If you'd like an extra limit on this sort of thing, I would be quite fine with spending a Hero Point to A) do this quickly and accurately, and B) ensure I can't spam it for every problem. XD
Masumi
At first startled with the knowledge that they'd still have to do this, and fumbling uselessly over her words, she's then at a loss for them entirely. The girl watches curiously as Atsuko does her thing, having seen the book in action once before when they located the Cardinal. What was she trying to do this time?
Atsuko, the Conduit
Atsuko exhaled slightly as she finally found the page she was looking for, her mind quickly processing the complex sigils on her page. The Pnakotic Manuscript made its better-known cousin (the Voynich Manuscript) look like a practice primer, but most things weren't so hard once you understood them. ...Admittedly, she had a bit of a cheat with her book, but still. It only had so much power, but that was sort of an issue all on its own. She had to do more than get an answer - she had to get it in such a way that it didn't hurt anything else, and that was much harder than it had any right to be. Which, of course, was probably why just flipping through the pages in her book was rapidly draining her energy - and like most of the truly dangerous things she could do, that wasn't the kind of energy that she could easily recover.
"Just a second..." she said, muttering a quick phrase from the book and focusing her power on the future. "All right, I think we should..."
...Do what the GM says. XD *Marks off a Hero Point*
Jaster Kite
I'm surprised Felix hasn't been poking around that there book of yours, yet.
You see an archaic building on an island, ominous in the way it is set against the twilight of Gotham, your vision turns, strolling away from the building, off the path, into the dying grass, towards a well.
Your vision looks down it, you hear something crash and echo inside the well.
The vision pulls back, then slowly climbs over the wall of the well, ready to descend.
And then it fades to black.
Atsuko, the Conduit
Atsuko took just a moment to orient herself, comparing what she'd seen of the building to what she knew of Gotham. Fortunately, as a teleporter, she was used to keeping an eye out for landmarks that she could use to better figure out where she was and where she wanted to go. You learned fast after the first couple of times you got lost on your way home. Snapping the book shut, she shoved it back into her bag and took off running. "This way." she said, hoping she at least sounded confident.
The Darkstorm
Darkstorm looks at Masumi and takes off the shirt The Phantom handed him, revealing the top half of his white outfit. Shouldn't we always be prepared? he asks incredulously.
He casts another glance at Elaine. Ya know man, one part of him thinks. She is kinda cute.
How could you think that?! The rest of him replied. What are you crazy?
I'm you... and you have crazy ghost powers and are playing superhero. so Yes.
Don't super heroes stick with one girl?
You have heard the rumors about Nightwing, right?
